Miley Cyrus is a long way away from her days as Disney’s Hannah Montana.  Miley showed up on the runway sporting an extremely low cut gown this week, joining a long list of celebrities who think the best way to show off is to put their”assets” front and center.  Miley is in good company, joing others who have taken the gown plunge in recent weeks.  Lea Michele, Blake Lively and Jennier Anniston have all been spotted on the red carpet in extremely low cut (but extremely high fashion) gowns.

Miley came out in force this weekend to make several high profile appearances after a controversy a few weeks ago in which the Hollywood Hottie was caught on tape extolling the virtues of being a heavy pot smoker, when her friends presented her with a cake that had an image of Bob Marley on it. Cyrus was quoted as saying “”You know you’re a stoner when your friends make you a Bob Marley cake,” … “You know you smoke way too much f-cking weed!”.  She had also been filmed several months ago smoking what she had claimed was legal drug Salvia out of a bong.

Regardless of her past controversies, Miley and her low cut style has been turning a lot of heads on the party scene lately.  Fox News is quoted as saying “Miley Cyrus is the latest star to wear a dress cut down to waaaaaaaay down there.”.

One of the larger celebrity stories today is that Jennifer Aniston- America’s Spinster Sweetheart- said the word “retard” yesterday and that is apparently not okay, you guys.

Aniston was engaging in a bit of self-deprecation when she made the remark, but that hasn’t stopped the “r-word” police from descending upon her. (Yes, they’ve called it the “r-word.”) The controversy started, of all places, on a morning chat show:

During a Thursday appearance to promote her new movie, The Switch, on Live with Regis & Kelly, Aniston also discussed dressing up like Barbara Streisand for a recent Harper’s Bazaar photo shoot. “Yes, I play dress up! I do it for a living, like a retard,” Aniston said.

One group that spoke out immediately in a statement was the Special Olympics, who did not mention Aniston by name but neither did they dismiss the fact that she used the word to refer to herself:

“Special Olympics is always disappointed when the R-word is used, especially by someone who is influential to society,” a representative for the organization said in a statement to TVGuide.com. “The pervasive use of the R-word, even in an off the cuff self-deprecating manner, dehumanizes people with intellectual disabilities and perpetuates painful stereotypes that are a great source of suffering and negative stigma.”

The CEO of an unspecified advocacy group was more pointed in their critique of Aniston:

“Frankly, someone in her position ought to know better,” Peter Berns, CEO of the nonprofit advocacy group The Arc, told TVGuide.com in a statement. “She is using language that is offensive to a large segment of the population in this country. … Even if it wasn’t intended to insult them, that is the effect of it.”

Was Aniston out of line using the word? Do you still use it in a derisive way? Are “retard” or “retarded” an irreplaceable part of our vernacular, or offensive pejoratives that have outlived their acceptance in every day speech?

I’ll admit up front that I’m not a huge Jennifer Aniston fan. The words highly overrated usually come to mind when I picture her, and I’m not alone in thinking that, Brad Pitt also agrees

The nearly 40 Aniston isn’t harsh on the eye, but she’s no Angelina Jolie or Keira Knightley either, but you’d never know from the cover of the latest GQ magazine where Anniston appears naked, because…well…take a serious look. I smell photoshopped a mile off.

It’s not just the golden glow and great looks…in some ways its seems like they replaced her head as well what do you think? Am I being far too hard on the fish that Brad Pitt rejected, or is this vintage photoshop work?
