Jay-Z and Beyonce have just posted the first photos of their new baby Blue Ivy Carty.

The Carter family started the Blue Ivy Carter Tumblr page at Hellowblueivycarter.com and wrote:

“We welcome you to share in our joy. Thank you for respecting our privacy during this beautiful time in our lives.”

The Daily Mail reports that several celebrities shop around the first photos of their baby to magazines. Jay-Z and Beyonce, however, decided to post the images up on their website for free. Do you like the way that the music superstars handled their first baby photos?

The website right contains a few photos of the family and nothing else. No word on if Jay-Z and Beyonce will use HelloBlueIvyCarter.com to update photos of the child as it grows up.

Blue Ivy. It’s an unusual name to give a child. However, that’s exactly what Jay-Z and Beyonce did when the singer gave birth to a baby girl last month. Blue Ivy was born on January 7th at Lennox Hill Hospital, on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.

There’s already been a long-winded, tenuous explanation about the kid’s name, but there might just be another dimension to this than: ‘Beyonce’s favourite number is 4, which is IV in Roman numerals, and ‘I’ and ‘V’ appear in ‘Ivy.‘

I suggest this because Jay-Z and Beyonce have now filed an application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to trademark the little girl’s name for possible use on a future range of baby goods, according to the Washington Post. Remember folks: it’s always wise to consider branding opportunities when choosing your child’s name.

The filing was made by the superstar couple on January 26, the 19th day of Blue Ivy’s young life. Yep, at three weeks, girl is already a brand!

Reportedly, a couple of entrepreneurs earlier made applications to protect the Blue Ivy name for themselves, but their attempts were rejected, which seems a little unfair. A ‘patent expert’ told the Post that Jay-Z and Beyonce would have to go through the USPTO’s office ‘first-come, first-served procedure’ like everybody else.

The trademarking of famous names and phrases is a common occurence, and when the names are associated with acts as popular as Jay-Z and Beyonce, the opportunists will come out of the woodwork.

Last night Jay-Z went to Carnegie Hall to perform a concert benefiting the United Way of New York City and the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation. Hova was joined by Alicia Keys, Nas, and a 36-piece orchestra on stage. And back stage, he was joined by Liza Minnelli.

Jay-Z gave the legendary actress a shout out during the show, saying:

“I’d like to give a special shout-out to Liza Minnelli in the house tonight.”

The two even posed for a picture together.

But Liza Minnelli wasn’t the only big name in the house. C.C. Sebathia was in the crowd, Questlove of the Roots was on the stage, and as the Inquisitr reported earlier, Beyonce made her first post-baby appearance at Carnegie Hall last night. (You can see photos here.) It’s not clear if little Blue Ivy attended the concert with her mother, but Jay-Z did perform his tribute to his baby girl.

Beyonce has made her first post baby appearance, showing up at Jay-Z’s benefit concert for the United Way of New York City and the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation at Carnegie Hall.

Beyonce appeared in a skin tight Alice Temperly red dress.  She also had a large blue ring and her nails painted blue in honor or her new daughter Blue Ivy Carter.

Jay-Z dedicated the concert to his daughter.  He sang the song “Glory” which he wrote for Blue Ivy and got all choked up.

“I didn’t think I was going to make it through that one. That was tough.” He said

After the concert Beyonce and Jay-Z headed to the after-party at Jay’s 40/40 club. According to the New York Daily News, the new mom received congratulatory hugs on the birth of baby Blue from tons of A-List Stars.

On Monday night rapper Jay-Z took to the stage at Carnegie Hall where he sang from a list of his greatest hits and a new single to a sold out crowd.

At one point the world’s best selling rapper managed to debut his newest song “Glory” written for his 1-month-old daughter Blue Ivy Carter. Sounding emotional after finishing the ode to his daughter he told the crowd:

“I didn’t think I was going to make it through that one,” adding, “That was tough.”

Jay-Z is only the second hip-hop act to grace the Carnegie Hall stage following in the footsteps of Wyclef Jean who appeared alongside Stevie Wonder, Eric Clapton and Whitney Houston in 2001.

For his turn at the Carnegie Hall stage Jay-Z also had some guests including Alicia Keys and Nas. The rapper was also backed by a 30-plus strong orchestra that included musical guest ?uestlove of The Roots. 

The Grammy winner rapper put on the concert for charity and will host a second charity concert later in the week.

While some tickets for the Jay-Z Carnegie Hall performance were made available to the public most were sold in private sale form for prices ranging from $500 to $2,500.  Proceeds from the Carnegie Hall show will go to benefit the United Way of New York City and the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation.

Among hits performed on the night were:

“Hard Knock Life,” “99 Problems” and “Dirt Off Your Shoulder.”  The orchestra also played a medley of Billy Joel’s “New York State of Mind,” Frank Sinatra’s “New York, New York” and Gil Scott-Heron’s “New York Is Killing Me.”

That’s one Jay-Z concert I would love to see arrive on Blu-ray.

Air Platinum Club filed a lawsuit against Jay-Z in June, 2010, for $137,000. The company dropped the lawsuit today. It’s unclear if the private airline company and the rap mogul reached a confidential settlement.

Air Platinum Club claimed that Jay-Z had he racked 55 hours of first-class service on one of its private jets. Jay-Z, however, only paid for 37 hours. The private airline company said that Jay-Z owed $137,485 for unpaid flights, catering, taxes, and fees.

E! News reports that the lawsuit was dropped today, but that a reason was not given. TMZ speculates that Jay-Z and Air Platinum Club reached an agreement outside of court.

US Magazine reports that Jay-Z and Beyonce have bought their new baby plenty of new gifts, including a diamond-encrusted high chair and a $3500 lucite crib.

The celebrity parents have also built three identical 2,200 square foot nurseries in their three homes in the US for Blue Ivy. According to News.com.au, the nurseries cost the celebrity couple more than a $250,000.

An unidentified source relayed a few more details, saying:

“Together they’ve bought a Swarovski-studded high chair by Carla Monchen for $15,000, and a Fantasy ‘posh tots’ coach carriage crib for $40,000… Jay-Z bought Beyonce a solid gold handmade Ginza Tanaka rocking horse for $600,000. They’ve even splashed out on a $30,000 magical windmill playhouse for the garden and a mini Bugatti car, too. They’ve got baby charm bracelets, gold and platinum diamond rattles and dummies from Tiffany & Co, too.”

Blue Ivy also has her own security detail and several reports claim that Jay-Z spent $1.3 million at the Lenox Hill Hospital to lock down a private wing while Beyonce gave birth. The hospital has denied that claim.

And on top of Blue Ivy’s lavish gifts, the new baby also has her first hit single. Jay-Z released a new song dedicated to his baby girl. Jay-Z raps:

Jay-Z dropped a bit of a bomb on Monday when he revealed that wife Beyonce had a miscarriage before the couple were able to conceive daughter Blue Ivy.

News of the miscarriage arrived in the form of a song titled “Glory” which was released on Monday in honor of Blue Ivy’s birth this weekend.

In the song Jay-Z raps:

“Last time the miscarriage was so tragic/We was afraid you’d disappear/But nah baby you magic.”

On the song an audio sample can be heard of Blue Ivy crying just a few minutes after she was born. The track was put together quickly with the help of super producer Pharrell.

Other lyrics include:

It seems a Boston-area events company is having the best free PR week ever, as the business just so happened to be in possession of the Blue Ivy moniker well before baby Blue Ivy Carter made her appearance at Lenox Hill hospital in Manhattan late last week. Lucky event planner Veronica Alexandra spoke to TMZ about the q-rating boost and said that all week long, her phone, Facebook, Twitter and every other possible method of communication have been blowing up due to the unexpected publicity.

Alexandra- whose exact role at the company is not clear, although it’s likely she is the owner- said that it’s probably Beyonce and Jay-Z were aware of the Blue Ivy connection prior to naming their new addition the same name as the Boston company, as up until recently, the original Blue Ivy dominated Google search results. But Alexandra certainly isn’t complaining about all the extra attention being lavished its way after the most anticipated baby in quite a while wound up sharing Blue Ivy’s name. In fact, Alexandra told TMZ she has a proposal for the new parents:

‘Clearly great minds think alike, and who better than our Blue Ivy to plan events for B&J’s Blue Ivy?’

A disgruntled dad recently revealed that the couple rented out an entire wing at Lenox Hill Hospital for $1.3 million while their security detail locked out parents from visiting their newborn children.

Brooklyn resident Neil Coulon, 38 says his wife was stressed after delivering preemie twins  and when he went to check on them he was told by Beyonce’s bodyguards that he couldn’t visit his daughters. Coulon told the Chicago Sun-Times:

“Three times they stopped me from entering or exiting the NICU (Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit) and it happened once on Friday — just because they wanted to use the hallway.”

“They should have been more strategic about it,” he continued. “These are children with problems in intensive care and you’re just going to take over the hospital like you own it? All I want is an apology.”

In the meantime Jay-Z was having a party in the rented out wing of the hospital for little baby girl Blue Ivy, reportedly bringing in bottles of champagne for friends and family to enjoy.

The story was confirmed by a hospital staffer who revealed:

“Some people were upset … I heard a gentleman say he couldn’t go upstairs to see his baby [Saturday].

That staffer adds:

“People are really upset and complaining,” while noting that medical staff must “shut down” whenever Beyonce moves about.

$1.3 million isn’t a bad payday for the hospital, that is until parents with children in the NICU start filing lawsuits.

Rihanna wrote: “Welcome to the world princess Carter! Love Aunty Rih.”

Gwyneth Paltrow added: “Welcome to the world Blue! We love you already.”

Russell Simmons said: “Congrats to my good friends Beyonce and Jay-Z.”

Initial reports stated that Jay-Z and Beyonce had named their baby girl Ivy Blue Carter but it has now been revealed that the child’s name is actually Blue Ivy Carter. MTV dug a little deeper into the name and believes that they have found out why the celebrity couple landed on Blue Ivy.

In a nut shell, Jay-Z’s favorite color is blue. Jay-Z’s album “The Blueprint” is regarded as a hip-hop classic (He’s released two follow-ups to complete the Blueprint trilogy) and spit the line “my favorite hue is Jay-Z blue” in the song “Go Crazy.”

Blue is also a four letter word, which for Beyonce, is very important. Beyonce has repeatedly said that the number four is very important to her. Beyonce said:

“We all have special numbers in our lives, and 4 is that for me. It’s the day I was born. My mother’s birthday, and a lot of my friends’ birthdays, are on the fourth; April 4 is also my wedding date.”

Beyonce’s affinity for the number four also explains the Ivy part of her child’s name. Ivy contains IV which is the roman numeral for four. According to the Global Grind, Ivy may also hint that Jay-Z and Beyonce are going to have more kids. The Global Grind writes:

“Ivy comes from the plant which symbolizes eternity. Greek and Roman societies admired the ivy plant for its hardiness and longevity. They believed the plant aided fertility. Could this mean more children for Beyonce and Hova?”

According to the same report, the couple rented out an entire floor at Lennox Hill Hospital, on Manhattan’s Upper East Side for the delivery and recovery, and they paid a whopping $1.3 Million dollars for it.

Staff at the hospital had their cellphones confiscated before reporting to work and security cameras were disabled so as to not leak any photos of the couple or the baby.  A hospital staffer revealed that Beyonce checked into the hospital under the name Ingrd Jackson.

The couple announced at the MTV video music awards that they were expecting a child.  Other than that, Beyonce and Jay-Z have said they have no intentions of selling the pictures of the baby, as many Hollywood couples do.

Jay-Z and Beyonce are one of Hip-Hop’s richest and most famous couples.

No matter how rich and fabulous Beyonce is- and even if you’re covered in spit up and without the assistance of several nannies, much less one, as you’re reading this- it’s difficult not to sympathize with the chart-topping singer in light of this kind of coverage.

Bey and her husband, rapper Jay-Z, took some time out for a pre-baby date over the weekend. The pair kept a somewhat low profile over the holiday, hanging out in Hova’s native Brooklyn at the restaurant Buttermilk Channel. Reportedly dining on oysters and fried chicken, however, poor pregnant Beyonce could not stay out of the glare of nosy onlookers who made some backhanded comments about the star’s appearance to the press. (If you’ve ever been pregnant, you know such remarks get tiresome somewhere around the sixth week, and it always sucks when someone starts telling you you look good for someone who is so fat, ad infinitum.)

Tell me you don’t want to smack whoever said this:

The nosy spy continued:

“She was definitely a pregnant lady that night… They sat side by side and had a cozy and intimate dinner. They seemed to be having a lovely time.”

The outing countered rumors that appeared on British tabloid sites, stating that the mom-to-be and the rap guru had been spotted around Brooklyn and that baby Z had already arrived. As of yet, Beyonce has been mum about her due date.

Confusing reports suggesting that Beyoncé had given birth over the holidays were stoked by Ryan Seacrest, host of “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve 2012″. Seacrest introduced a pre-taped video of the singer, clarifying her absence by saying, “Obviously, Beyoncé couldn’t be here tonight because she’s about to give birth to her first child.”

Beyoncé’s baby is one of several celebrity births scheduled for 2012. Joining her are fellow pop singers Hilary Duff and Jessica Simpson.

After several years of false rumors of Beyonce and Jay-Z spawning, we learned dramatically at the MTV Video Music Awards that Bey was indeed pregnant with the couple’s much-awaited first child.

Now that the secret is out, Beyonce has been speaking to press about her excitement, baby plans, Jay’s reaction and even rumors that she at least in part enhanced her pregnant look to grab headlines. (A suggestion she says is “so far out” it doesn’t warrant comment.)

But rumors definitely get up to the singer from time to time- most notably for Beyonce, on a recent flight. She recounts:

“I was on a plane and the flight attendant came and was like, ‘I have your hot sauce and pickles and bananas.’ And I’m like, ‘That is absolutely disgusting, what are you doing?’ He’s like, ‘I read it on the Internet.”

Of her decision to silently announce her good news at the VMA, Beyonce told Katie Couric:

“Physically I was starting to show, so it was only a matter of days before someone zoomed in… So I just wanted it to be from me, and I wanted it to be something that was a celebration of something so beautiful. And I didn’t want to release a picture or a statement. I figured the biggest statement was to- just be.”

Afterwards, Beyonce says she was fully able to relax and enjoy her baby joy. She describes:

“…I just felt free. I really did because I’d been holding the most exciting thing in for so long, and I just felt like, Wow, now I can enjoy, and now I can just experience this the way that every woman should. So I felt so liberated, and I felt like, Oh, I can breathe and be happy.’ And, you know, it was a beautiful feeling. … I went straight off the stage and just cried. I hugged my mom, I hugged Jay and just cried. It was a beautiful day.”

Bey declined to confirm former bandmate Kelly Rowland’s assertion that the baby is a girl, and she has not disclosed when the child is due to arrive.

According to reports Beyonce’s former Destiny’s child partner Kelly Rowland has purchased a $5,2000 gift known as the Baby Diamond Bathtub. The high-end item is covered in pink-Swarovski crystals and is the perfect size to wash a baby or a pet.

The tub according to the company that makes it features 44,928 crystals and weighs 3,000 pounds.

You may recall that it was Rowland who accidentally let it be known that Jay-Z and Beyonce were having a girl when she revealed:

 ”I have no idea what I’m going to buy Beyonce at the baby shower because Jay is going to buy that little girl every single thing possible,” and “She won’t be spoiled but she will be very well looked-after.”

I’m pretty sure that their baby will be spoiled beyond belief, regardless of what Jay-Z claims.

Jay-Z has become such a polarizing figure in the worlds of hip-hop, fashion and business that a class at Georgetown university has begun teaching the philosophies and practices of the world’s top rapper.

Author and radio host Michael Eric Dyson is currently offering students the chance to take part in his class titled “Sociology of Hip-Hop—Urban Theodicy of Jay-Z and according to the classes curriculum listing it seeks “the intellectual, theological, philosophical predicate for Jay-Z’s argument.”

Speaking to the Washington Post Dyson says of his lectures and educational discussions:

“This is not a class meant to sit around and go, ‘Oh man, those lyrics were dope,’” while he adds, “We’re dealing with everything that’s important in a sociology class: race, gender, ethnicity, class, economic inequality, social injustice.”

When confronted by parents who believe their children are wasting their time Dyson says he invited them to sit in on his class to better understand how Jay-Z’s “body of work has proved to be powerful, effective and influential. And it’s time to wrestle with it.”

Given the number of professors who teach Klingon and other strange subjects I have to say at least this particular class might make sense from a pop cultural and business perspective. Would you be willing to take a Jay-Z class?

The most famous fetus on the face of the planet will emerge as a baby girl. Jay-Z and wife Beyonce are having a girl according to a close “friend” of the couple.

Jay-Z eluded to the sex of his baby during an interview with In Touch Weekly this week when he said wife Beyonce would be happy with either sex but really wanted a little “Sasha Fierce.”

According to one source:

“Beyonce is thrilled she’s having a daughter. She and her mother are so close, and she’s wanted to have that relationship with her own child.”

The insider says now that Beyonce knows the sex of her baby she’s going crazy picking out clothing from Gucci and Louis Vuiton.

“Her family’s afraid there won’t be anything left to buy for her baby shower in December!”

If all the love of her parents isn’t enough Baby Beyonce will also have their very own 2,000 square foot nursery in her parents apartment and she’ll be cruising around in a $1 million mini van from Mercedes which includes it’s own bathroom with a full shower along with DirecTV, WiFi capabilities and a $150,000 sound system.

Singer Beyonce and her rapper husband Jay-Z are preparing for parenthood like many parents, purchasing a van to haul around their soon to be born child.

Where the couple differs from most parents comes from the type of van they purchased, a $1 million customized Mercedes that features a $150,000 audio system, a full bathroom with a shower and wiring for DirectTV and WiFi access.

The van is apparently so big that Beyonce was helped out of the vehicle by two assistance when arriving at a meeting in New York City.

It shouldn’t surprise Beyonce fans that she would spare no expense for the arrival of her little tot, she has already converted 2,200 square feet of her TriBeCa apartment into a nursery, leaving one insider to muse:

“Some people are like, ‘Won’t you be scared to leave your baby in that huge room?’”

I’m pretty sure with a full bathroom and a shower with DirecTV Chris Farley would have been more than happy to live in this van down by the river.
