Jamie Lynn Spears has discussed her teenage pregnancy in a new interview with Glamour magazine.

The younger sister of Britney became pregnant aged 16, and soon left Hollywood to raise her daughter back home in Louisiana. Spears is back though, just two months shy of her 21st birthday and ready to make her return as a singer-songwriter.

In the Glamour interview, she talks about why she wasn’t on birth control while with her daughter’s father Casey Aldridge, the ways in which she and Britney bond over motherhood, and how she’ll always love Aldridge (even though the two split in February 2010). On the subject of birth control, Spears said:

“I believe in safety and birth control as prevention. But like many young girls, I was really scared to go to the doctor. And I was on a Nickelodeon show, and it [felt] especially embarrassing to ask someone to put me on birth control. I didn’t want to ask my doctor, because she had a little girl.”

She also discusses her decision to speak to OK! Magazine about her pregnancy (shocker: her explanation isn’t “for the money”):

“I knew I needed to give an explanation to my fans, and I wanted it to be in my words first. I had to make a decision that I could sleep with every night. I did feel responsible for the young girls and the mothers who I probably confused and let down. I apologize for that. But I wasn’t trying to glamorize teen pregnancy. [...] Was it hurtful for my parents to read stuff about their daughters? Yes. Obviously seeing Britney’s negative coverage, I knew how far it could go.”

Sometimes America’s backwardness about sex, gender and facing uncomfortable truths is underscored in pop-culture, and the pregnancy and subsequent shunning of Jamie Lynn Spears- Britney’s little sister and star of the old Nickelodeon show Zoey 101- was certainly one of those moments.

To my knowledge, homes for “unwed mothers” no longer exist, but they might as well have considering how quickly Jamie Lynn Spears was whisked from public view as if somehow an accidental pregnancy is contagious. To be sure, we’ve seen the effects of glamorizing teenage pregnancy with trainwreck shows like Teen Mom, but in a country that’s probably the least comfortable in the Western world with reproductive issues, it always seemed counterintuitive the way we cast young girls out of the tribe when they- not alone, it can never be repeated enough- get knocked up.

If you’ve ever been in the place Jamie Lynn describes in an Glamour interview, her words probably will take you back there. She says:

“It was 2007. I had been on a Nickelodeon show, Zoey 101, and after we wrapped shooting, I just wanted to go home to Louisiana and finish high school, be a cheerleader, all that. Then I found out I was pregnant. I was young. I was in love. I was like every other teenager, except I had this last name. And I made a decision that is forever my decision.”

But the next part should hit you right in the ovaries, and if you oppose an alternative to abstinence-only education, it should give you pause. Spears says:

Jaime Lynn even addresses the advent of the Teen Mom world, and a culture in which teen mothers are more visible but really no more supported:

When I saw MTV’s Teen Mom was coming out, I remember thinking, Oh my God, I cannot wait to see this show because there’s someone else out there. I mean, I feel for those girls. I’ve been that girl. It does show that motherhood is hard. There were so many times—especially when Maddie would get sick—when I would cry to myself and think, I really don’t know what to do. It takes bravery to be a young mom, and it does take bravery to let the world watch.

It’s certainly a difficult situation, because punishing teen mothers is basically closing the barn door after the horse has bolted- and gotten pregnant. It’s often been said that 40% of women get pregnant at least once by the age of 20- and unless we accept the eventuality that teens often get pregnant, without support and prevention, they’re either headed to the projects or the abortion clinic. Jamie Lynn Spears stepped out of the spotlight three years ago to give birth and ultimately raise her daughter Maddie and on Monday the actress and singer stepped back into the spotlight during a concert she was throwing in Nashville, Tennessee.

The 20-year-old singer performed at the Rutledge where her original songs were heard mostly by an audience made up of friends and family members.

Speaking after the show mother Lynne told PEOPLE of daughters performance:

“I am so emotional tonight.”

Father Jamie added:

“We’re so proud of her.”

Sister Britney Spears couldn’t be in attendance to support her little sister because of her own tour but she did send her sister a congratulatory tweet:

“Heard you were amazing sis : ) Love you!!”

After completely her show and first major appearance in three years Jamie Lynn took to Twitter to thank everyone who came out to support her show:

“Just wanna thank all my amazing friends and family for coming out tonight!!!”

Thus begins another generation of lip syncing.

Jamie Lynn’s daughter is three now- and very cute- and Aunt Britney tweeted excitedly upon viewing a YouTube clip of her niece… covering a Britney Spears song. BritBrit gushed to her nearly nine million followers:

Britney Spears got her straight at a very young age, and it looks like Jamie Lynn Spears‘ daughter is looking to get an even earlier start at the age of three.

Maddie Briann made her singing debut over on YouTube over the weekend with a cover of her aunt’s tune “Up N’ Down”. It’s probably not the most appropriate thing for a kid to be singing, but darn if it isn’t still cute.

“OMG! Check out my niece Maddie covering Aunt Britney’s Up N Down,” Britney Spears said of her niece’s debut. “Sooooo adorable!”

Up N’ Down is a bonus track from Britney Spears’ seventh studio album, Femme Fatale, released on March 25. Since the album’s release, Femme Fatale has gone on to sell over half a million copies, over 200,000 of which was sold in the first week alone.

Apparently Jamie Lynn Spears has realized she is not ready to get married and has called off her engagement with fiance, Casey Aldridge. In Touch Weekly magazine says that the couple are still together, but Jamie has given back the engagament ring Casey gave her on her 17th birthday.

“Casey proposed when Jamie turned 17. He gave her a gold band with numerous diamonds and one larger stone, but now she has given it back to him. Jamie wasn’t ready to get married. It’s been more than enough for her to adjust to new motherhood for now.”

Jamie Lynn Spears and Casey Aldridge were still together as of July 15 when TMZ photogs snapped the couple out for a stroll and pizza in Los Angeles with their daughter Maddie (See above). One disturbing thing I find about the photos: Casey is smoking so close to his daughter!

Casey, don’t expose your child to cigarette smoke like that. Hopefully she doesn’t latch onto that bad habit when she gets older.

Reports are coming in that Casey Aldridge, Jamie Lynn Spears boyfriend, was injured in a serious car wreck early Sunday morning and will undergo emergency surgery today to remove a blood clot from near his brain.

Aldridge, 18, was returning home from a fishing trip in Amite Counts, MS, with his friends in an F150 Ford pickup when they wrecked the vehicle. His friends came out of it with minor injuries but Casey was not so lucky. He suffered head trauma that has caused a dangerous blood clot to form near his brain.

He will undergo emergency surgery at the University of Mississippi Medical Center where doctors will try to repair the damage.

Casey Aldridge is the boyfriend of Jamie Lynn Spears and father of their daughter, Maddie.

TMZ reported today that Jamie Lynn is considering taking legal action after rumors hit that she received liposuction while pregnant. Well, Lipodissolve is more likely, since Star mag published claims from a source saying “Her mom approved the injections and went through tons of red tape to get the clinic to administer them to an underage patient.”

Now TMZ reports that “Sources tell TMZ Jamie Lynn Spears is swelling up with anger over one gossip mag’s claims she had lipo while pregnant — so much so that she may take legal action.”

Many have claimed that it’s impossible Jamie Lynn had gotten lipo or Lipodissolve while pregnant because health care facilities administer mandatory pregnancy tests and screen one’s blood. However, if mother Lynne Spears had cut through said tape, she might have been able to skip through the tests to boot.

I doubt that Jamie will actually go through with suing anyone, either because the rumors are true and she’s just going through the motions to save face, or she’s too lazy to bother. We shall see!

Oooh, things are heating up in the National Enquirer‘s world! They had claimed that Jamie Lynn Spears was pregnant last week, but TMZ refuted it with an “anonymous public denial.”

The Enquirer dug up another interesting tidbit to add to the drama, claiming that “a close family member has revealed exclusively that the Spears family is in an uproar and Jamie Lynn is being pressured to abort the baby.”

People are whispering that Jamie Lynn is trying to buy herself some time while she tries to figure out what to do. The Enquirer claims that the Spears fam is in an uproar, and they won’t be talking until they sell an official confirmation of the pregnancy.

I half-believe it right now.

Hmmm. . . Enquirer or TMZ? TMZ or Enquirer? The former, TMZ, broke the counter-news today that Jamie Lynn Spears is not pregnant, and they credit “an unimpeachable source.”

With the Enquirer already having broke Jamie Lynn’s first pregnancy to the world, I’m skeptical. This source might want to buy her some time. The damage has been done, regardless, and I’ll be scanning the headlines to check for developments.

TMZ adds that “Someone tell Lynne Spears and get her down from the ledge.” Don’t worry! If she hasn’t done it already, she won’t.

Jamie Lynn Report: Now She’s Not Pregnant is a post from: The Inquisitr

The National Enquirer has busted forth with a report that Jamie Lynn Spears has gotten pregnant again. . . and “her pals are begging her to abort.” Jamie has her first child just three months ago, Maddie Briann, and according to the Enquirer, thought that breast-feeding Maddie would keep her from getting pregnant. They continued, saying:

“Jamie Lynn is about eight weeks pregnant, and she and her mom Lynne are hysterical. Neither of them knows what to do, but for now they’re trying to keep the news from getting out.”

Shoot. I hope, for her sake, that this “source” turns out to be a total liar. Otherwise, this is bad news for Jamie Lynn, who “cried her eyes out” when she got the news.

There’s a lot going on in Britney’s world, and for the most part, it’s actually all good. If you had been thinking that the day would never come, you weren’t alone: every “journalist” and his mother will be choking the Los Angeles streets to catch a glimpse of. . . something when she arrives at her custody hearing tomorrow. The scent of comeback could be getting stronger, but not as strong as that of normalcy.

Despite the dangers of newfound confidence, this could be Britney’s break in a tough year. Think about it: she just jetted back from hanging with the fam, her sister seems genuinely excited about having a baby, Brit’s slated to appear in another episode of How I Met Your Mother, and people seem to really like her again. I mean, besides the crazed fans who loved her anyway.

I’d still recommend that you hang on to your cowboy hats, ’cause if we know Britney, things could take a quick turn into sh**tsville, and fast. One thing I am sure of: there’ll be plenty of footage of the paparazzi fighting each other off to get a glimpse of Britney.
