Due to the presence of the Super Bowl and it propensity to attract the worst in human nature, the Indiana Legislature passed tough laws against human trafficking in time for the event.

Speaking about the law State Sen. Randy Head said,

“The Super Bowl is a huge human trafficking event. They’re running sophisticated rings — trading girls from city to city.”

The Super Bowl tend to attract various types of organized crime and different gangs. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children estimates 10,000 prostitutes were brought to Miami for the Super bowl in 2010.

Head say that Indiana will not tolerate the exploitation of women for a sporting event.  he said that the law was meant to send their message to all the pimps and johns out there.

The new law extends the definition of sex trafficking and increases penalties. There are also new training recommendations for hotel employees and cab drivers. The employees can look for warning signs in possible victims. Experts say red flags include young girls, dressed inappropriately, who seem quiet, insecure and avoid eye contact. They also say it’s suspicious when this profile of a girl checks into a hotel with no luggage.

Linda Smith who is the president and founder of Shared Hope International, a non-profit which deals with the issue had nothing but praise for Governor Mitch Daniels and the legislature.

She said,

“What they did is amazing. I met with the governor less than two months ago. He met with the legislature that same week. They fast-tracked a piece of legislation to warn the traffickers – this is not a good place to do business. We’ve got a long way to go, but they made a strong first statement at a perfect time because a lot of people will now know Indianapolis is now watching. Buyers might now think twice before they buy.”

Smith said that it is precisely this type of law passed at the right time that raises the issue to a national cause and gets the country thinking about exploited women and children.

She said,

“The Super Bowl — or any large sports game — always draws traffickers and they bring the product line because there are a lot of men that are used to buying commercial sex around these events. Unfortunately, it draws minors as a product line. People bring in kids. So what has happened in Indianapolis is absolutely amazing. The leadership standing up saying – we’re going to send a message to traffickers saying we’re not a good place for you to be bringing kids or vulnerable women to sell.”

The search for 9 year old Aliahna Lemmon has officially ended with her trusted neighbor and babysitter, Michael Plumadore, beat her to death with a brick.  He then used a hacksaw to dismember her, keeping the 9 year old’s head feet and hands in his trailer freezer and dumping what was left at a nearby business, according to Allen County Sheriff’s Investigators

Plumadore admitted to police that after beating her to death with a brick he stuffed her body into a trash bag and put it in the freezer in his trailer.  Later on that evening he took the body out and chopped it up with a hacksaw and stuffed the pieces into freezer bags.

Plumadore is not saying why he killed Aliahna Lemmon

A State judge has ordered Plumadore held without bail or bond.  As of this writing he had not been formally charged with murder yet.

Aliahna’s mother had left her and two of her sisters with Plumadore because she was sick at home in bed with the flu.

Plumadore told The Journal Gazette on Sunday that Aliahna had gone missing from his home Friday morning.  He claimed he had been sleeping after going to a convenience store to buy a cigar, which was corroborated by the store’s video camera.

He reported Aliahna missing on Friday night.  Aliahna’s sisters supposedly told him the girl had gone home with her mother that morning.

Saturday more than 100 volunteers, law enforcement and FBI agents fanned out around the neighborhood trying to find Aliahna, a $10,000 reward was posted for information leading to her whereabouts.

Sheriff Ken Fries said detectives questioned Plumadore over the weekend and that he was arrested Monday.

“The story just didn’t make sense to our investigators or to me when I first heard it,” Fries said Monday night. “I thought this is the guy we needed to focus on. If we are going to find her, he’s going to be the one who has the answers for us.”

Fort Wayne, Indiana- More disturbing details have emerged about the disappearance and death of Aliahna Lemmon.

9-year-old Aliahna went missing Friday from her Indiana home, and authorities suspected babysitter Michael Plumadore was involved with the girl’s disappearance. Police cited “inconsistencies” in Plumadore’s account of the evening, and soon located the young girl’s body in a location they’ve not disclosed to the public.

However, the account that has emerged of the circumstances surrounding the girl’s death is very upsetting. It has been revealed in an affadavit that Plumadore confessed to bludgeoning little Aliahna with a brick before dismembering and concealing her remains:

According to the affidavit, Plumadore told police that after beating Aliahna to death on the front steps of the home in the early morning hours, he stuffed her body into trash bags and hid her in the freezer at the home in a rundown trailer park in Fort Wayne. He said he later chopped up her body with a hacksaw and stuffed her remains into freezer bags…

According to the affidavit, Plumadore admitted to keeping the child’s hands, head and feet at the trailer where the crime occurred, and “discarding” the rest of her body at a local business. After his confession, police searched the residence and located the body parts, corroborating Plumadore’s macabre admission.

Local sheriff Ken Fries did not disclose a reason behind the killing, but said that Plumadore’s account seemed faulty to investigators from the outset:

“Things that were said in 29 years of doing this that just didn’t make sense… We needed to get him to talk.”

Plumadore is being held without bond for the murder of Aliahna Lemmon.

Indiana Babysitter Beat Girl to Death With Brick, Dismembered Body With Hacksaw is a post from: The Inquisitr

The body of missing 9-year-old Indiana girl Aliahna Lemmon has been found after a frantic search by local and county officials and the FBI. The body of the little girl was found after County police and FBI agents interviewed 39-year old Mike Plumadore.

According to officials the family friend who was watching Aliahna and her two sisters have been officially charged with murder.

Plumadore initially said the girl vanished after she was placed in bed for the night, the trailer park where she was sleeping is a known haven for sex offenders which helped aid Plumadore in his original statements. Police soon realized however that the man had criminal records of his own in Florida and North Carolina for trespassing and assault.

The search was aided by more than 100 volunteers and the little girls body was found in northeast Indiana’s Allen County, the same location where his families mobile home park is located. At this time authorities are not stating exactly where the body was found.

The day before her bodies discover a Facebook support group named “Find Aliahna Marie Maroney Lemmon Missing from Fort Wayne, Indiana” posted a group message that read:

“Merry Christmas Aliahna where ever you are! We won’t give up on you!” and “No kid should be missing Christmas!”

At least manning spent this week able to throw a football, the problem is he has not been able to practice with the team or play in a game all season, and without being able to evaluate his on field performance the Colts will not be able to decide if he is able to play next year.

The Colts General Manager wants to have the best of both worlds, keep Manning and Draft Luck.  Unfortunately this doesn’t make much sense for the team.

The Colts are up against the NFL’s hard salary cap, an issue even with less star power than Manning on the roster.  Manning makes up for glaring deficiencies elsewhere on the field, but with him starting and Luck on the bench, those deficiencies will be even more magnified as they will have to cut much more talent to keep both in uniform.

In there lies the rub, if you draft Luck (and the ridiculously high salary he will command) just to sit on the bench, where are you going to get the money to give Manning a team he will be able to bring back to the Super Bowl?

This is a familiar situation for the Mannings (and Luck is a close family friend).  Archie Manning, Peyton’s father, advised Peyton’s brother Eli against putting himself in exactly the same situation with the San Diego Chargers.   When Eli was drafted by the San Diego Chargers, they already sported an established quarterback in Drew Brees. So Eli refused to sign and demanded a trade to the New York Giants where he has won a Super Bowl.

In 2004 fan favorite Rupert Boneham won $1 million on CBS’ Survivor: All-Stars and now he’s hoping that his 15-minutes of fame from 7-years-ago can help catapult him into the Governor’s Mansion as the new Governor of Indiana.

Speaking on Saturday Boneham said he is seeking the Libertarian Party nomination for governor of the state. The former reality-TV star says he hopes to replace  Republican Gov. Mitch Daniels who has reached his term limit.

If nominated for the 2012 gubernatorial race Boneham would likely face off against Republican US Rep. Mike Pence and Democrat John Gregg who’s experience as a former Indiana House Speaker will likely pose a challenge to Boneham.

In true veiled political speech Rupert said:

“I hope Indiana is ready for someone like me that does care and does understand what we are going through…”

In the meantime you can catch Rupert on old DVD copies of Survivor where he also appeared on both  Survivor: Pearl Island and Survivor: Heroes and Villains.

If you’re not sure that Boneham is the right man for the job consider the fact that he spent a large portion of his reality show winnings to create a foundation in support of at-risk teenagers.

Identical twins Jessica and Jennifer Patterson, 21, delivered their babies on the same day at the Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital, the Herald-Times reports.

Jessica went to the hospital first but it was Jennifer who went into labor. Jennifer gave birth first to a girl and eight-and-half hours later, Jessica gave birth to a boy. The babies were named Adalynn Rose Patterson and Mason Douglas Patterson.

Jessica and Jennifer, both single parents, have been sharing an apartment for the last three years. Despite the addition of two babies, they said that they intend to continue living with each other.

Jessica said that it’s going to be a crazy house and they are hoping that both babies will grow up really close to each other.

The hospital spokeswoman Amanda Roach cannot recall the last time that identical twins gave birth on the same day at the hospital.

Water coaster fanatics have reason to celebrate today as Holiday World in Santa Claus, Indiana has announced plans to open “Mammoth” in May 2012, the water slide will be the largest in existence.

Costing $9 million to construct the ride will be  1,753 feet long and cover three acres of the Splashin’ Safari area, bringing the park to 30 total acres.  The ride will stand 69 feet all and offer a first drop of 53 feet at a 45 degree angle with five more drops along the way.

To experience the ride 10 six-passenger boats with individual seatbacks will be used, meaning riders can be facing in various directions as they ride the coaster.

The ride was announced today, the 65th anniversary of the park.

At this time the speed and time length of the ride are not known and will be revealed when testing has been completed before official launch.

35-year-old quarterback Peyton Manning will remain with the Indianapolis Colts for at least five more years after signing a $90 million contract over the weekend.

Colt’s owner Jim Irsay sent out a simple Tweet in all caps to confirm the deal:

“OFFICIAL —-WE HAVE A DEAL!!!!!!!!!”

The contract ties New England’s Patriot QB Tom Brady for the biggest in the NFL after the team was able to take his deal down from $100 million to $90 million, while almost ensuring that their star QB plays out his entire career with the team he helped build, unless of course he pulls a Brett Favre later in life.

To his credit, Manning offered himself to take the $100 million dollar amount down by $10 million if the Colt’s would be willing to keep a few choice veterans.

Speaking of Manning’s move Irsay said:

“It’s a credit 2 Peyton; he put Colt fans, teammates, Ind. n winning ahead of all else.”

So there you have it Indianapolis fans, your star QB will remain yours for at least half a decade longer.
