Hollywood still doesn’t get social media, so they are doing the only right thing (in their mind) banning it. Studio execs are so afraid that actors are leaking film information on Twitter and Facebook, that they’ve decided to insert clauses in their contracts forbidding them.

Disney-owned Dreamworks are one of the scared studios. According to The Hollywood Reporter Cameron Diaz and Mike Myers are affected by the new clauses. God forbid someone should make any free publicity for Shrek 5 or is it 6? (I’ve stopped counting).

This could also explain Miley Cyrus’ Twitter exit earlier this month. The Disney talent contracts forbids confidentiality breaches via “interactive media such as Facebook, Twitter, or any other interactive social network or personal blog.” Dreamworks are restraining eager writers with a similar clause in their contracts regarding sharing of press releases on “a social networking site, blog or other Internet-type site.”

Maybe Ryan Seacrest scared them when he announced Ben Silverman’s resignation as co-chairman from NBC on Twitter before it was officially announced.

Or perhaps it was when Paula Abdul quit American Idol using Twitter?

It could also be because Greg Grunberg tweeted a goodbye to the Heroes crew. “Tough to say goodbye to crew not knowing if any or all of us will return next year.” Fans instantly thought that Heroes wasn’t coming back for another season until he tweeted ” Heroes IS coming back but some crew take other jobs, so it’s tough.”

This is just another example of, why Hollywood is afraid of Twitter and other social networks. They still haven’t seen the benefit of it. Hollywood wake up, you have no idea of the potential. I would worry more about making quality film.

Lloyd Gardner, 22, contacted police in 2006 to help solve a rape case.

The victim was brutally raped and left for dead, naked under a truck with a fractured skull. The woman is still confined to a wheelchair. Gardner, a waiter for Wagamama, viewed footage of the suspected rapist speaking to two women before the crime and assisted in identifying the women. Police later apprehended the suspect, thanks to Gardner’s intervention.

Gardner’s salary is a modest £20,000 a year, so a £10,000 reward is a tempting thing. But instead of keeping it for himself, Gardner donated his windfall to the victim, whose life has been left in tatters recovering from the vicious attack. He says:

“I didn’t feel like I’d earned it,” he said. “The fact that such a horrific thing happened to that lady, I thought it would benefit her life more than it would mine. I just wanted to try and improve her standard of life. It is a huge amount of money but I’ve been lucky throughout my life — she nearly died and was left in a horrendous state after the attack.

“I thought the money would go a lot further to improve her situation. I just wanted to help in any way possible and I hope this has done that.”

Jakub Tomczak, 24, is currently serving a double life sentence in Poland for the crime. The victim, who has not been identified, is expected to be disabled for life due to the vicious attack.

People are incredible especially when push comes to shove as it did when a mother and her two children, a baby and a 4-year old boy, found themselves in a burning wreck of a SUV on Sunday in Milwaukee Wisconsin. In a split second the mother found herself in a crash that was erupting into flames but as her husband said in a press conference later – there are angels all around us.

In this case it was the people who lived on the street where the crash occurred, including off-duty firefighters John Rechlitz and Joel Rechlitz as well as off-duty police officer Lt. Mark Wroblewski.

Jason Lepowski was driving down the street Sunday when a car crashed and erupted in flames. So he parked his car and ran to the vehicle to help.

“It blew up, and I was already smashing on the windshield of the vehicle because I saw the people inside,” he told CNN affiliate WTMJ.

His uncle, Jerry Lepowski who lives down the street, rushed to the scene and started filming.

Neighbors and those in the area frantically began screaming for help. Flames began to fan and tires blew as neighbors struggled to find a way to shatter the windshield and pull the three people to safety.

“We’re busting at the window because we saw everybody screaming,” Jason Lepowski told WTMJ. “We made a little hole to get the little baby out first. Then came the mother, then we were smashing out the window. We couldn’t break it.”

Then they began shouting for help.

That’s when neighbors, grabbing anything they could find, approached the car and started hammering the windshield with blunt objects including pipes.

“We’re freaking out, and then we get the windshield open,” Lepowski said.

But D.J. was still inside, trapped by a seatbelt and nobody could reach him.

“We could see the kid on fire,” Lepowski said.

Off-duty Milwaukee firefighters John Rechlitz and Joel Rechlitz assisted by off-duty Milwaukee police Lt. Mark Wroblewski raced to the scene.

Without gear, backup from emergency responders or any protection from the fire, the firefighters went inside the burning vehicle to try to free the boy.

“I saw him and I saw my son’s face. It was very emotional,” Joel Rechlitz told WTMJ.

With the help of a knife from a neighbor they were able to cut the boy free.

The surprise breakup of Heroes stars Hayden Panettiere and Milo Ventimiglia this week has been attributed to a pregnancy scare.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Hayden Panettiere thought she may have been pregnant but a subsequent pregnancy test came back negative. The friction caused by the scare is said to have been the cause of the couple parting ways after a year together.

Earlier reports had Panettiere and Ventimiglia parting due to lifestyle conflicts, with the couple often regularly apart due to work commitments.

Heroes series creator Tim Kring made some interesting comments at a presentation at the Heroes panel at Creative Screenwriting’s 2008 Screenwriting Expo. Via IGN, the full block:

Going back to the origins of the show, Kring explained how he had recognized that NBC did not have any sort of ensemble, serialized drama, in the wake of the success of shows like 24 and Lost. Having come from procedural series, including his own Crossing Jordan, Kring said he saw an opportunity there when he conceived of Heroes, which was “a completely different animal” from his previous work.

He joked that quickly he wondered, “What was I thinking?” noting that a serialized show is “an absolute bear to do.” Kring said he’s also finding, “It’s a very flawed way of telling stories on network television right now, because of the advent of the DVR and online streaming. The engine that drove [serialized TV] was you had to be in front of the TV [when it aired]. Now you can watch it when you want, where you want, how you want to watch it, and almost all of those ways are superior to watching it on air. So [watching it] on air is related to the saps and the dipshits who can’t figure out how to watch it in a superior way.“
