In the yearly conducted L.A. Fitness poll, over 2,000 gym members were asked to name the top male and female celebrity bodies in the world.

Upon tallying the results, Mirren surprisingly scored the top spot in the female category with nearly 18% of the vote, putting supermodel Elle MacPherson in at a distant second with 10%.

Meanwhile, in the male category, new father David Beckham was “best body” champion with 21% of the vote, followed by James Bond star Daniel Craig and Pirates of the Caribbean‘s Johnny Depp.

Helen Mirren, 66 Years Old, Named “Body of the Year” is a post from: The Inquisitr

Helen Mirren is getting ready to host Saturday Night Live (SNL) on April 9 and in preparation for that role she has taken to a new promo spot that showcases the often serious actresses comedic side.

In the skit she talks about being horny, busts a move and otherwise schmoozes the camera.

You can soon see Mirren in the comedy Arthur which opens this Friday and sees Mirren star beside fellow Brit Russell Brand.

I personally think Mirren is going to be hilarious and it’s definitely quite the departure from her most recent films which have included Love Ranch, The Last Station, Inkheart and The Queen, hardly a lineup of giggles.

The Queen Dame Helen Mirren has earned herself an easy $800,000 by spending two days shooting commercials for Nintendo’s Wii Fit.

MSN reports that the 65-year-old actress was brought in to appeal to older consumers, which Nintendo has spent the last few years wooing through games such as Wii Sports.

According to a ‘friend of the Oscar winner’, “Nintendo insisted they wanted Helen and no one else. They wanted an older, more attractive woman to show that the Wii isn’t just for children.”

Dame Mirren certainly looks great for 65, and while there’s no word on how many commercials have been shot, I’m guessing she’ll be pretty pleased with that payday. You can catch the first ad over at Nintendo’s UK site here – and to be fair, it’s a lot better than the cringeworthy Ant and Dec efforts.

State of Play is a political thriller directed by Kevin Macdonald and written by Matthew Michael Carnahan, Tony Gilroy, Peter Morgan, and Billy Ray. The film tells of a journalist’s probe into the suspicious death of a Congressman’s mistress. Russell Crowe plays the journalist and Ben Affleck plays the Congressman. Support comes from Helen Mirren, Jason Bateman, Robin Wright Penn, Rachel McAdams, and Jeff Daniels.

Yeah, I know, Russell Crowe movie, but one thing I’d note: it’s based on the BBC Mini Series of the same name, which is arguably one of the best mini-series to come out of the UK this decade. The trailer does look good, although they’ve cut the 6 hours of the original mini-series into 2 hours for the film, and naturally Americanized it. I’m willing to give it a shot.

State of Play comes out April 2009.
