When the Heart Attack Grill first opened in Dallas, Texas they placed a sign outside that read “Now Hiring Nurses” the sign was meant to bring in waitresses who wanted to work at a hospital themed restaurant and now it looks like those “nurses” are job hunting once again.

On Wednesday a new sign went up but it wasn’t asking for “nurses” instead the locations landlord put up a notice about locks being changed. According to the sign the locks were changed ”because of delinquent rent payment or violation of the tenant’s lease.”

Started in Chandler, Ariz., in 2006 owner Jon Basso served up 8,000-calorie “Quadruple Bypass” cheeseburgers and fries that have been cooked in lard and milk shakes that have the highest butterfat content you can find anywhere in the world.

With the Arizona location shutting their doors earlier this year perhaps it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the Dallas location has done the same although no Twitter or Facebook page announcements have been made at this time.

Oddly enough there is a new Las Vegas location which is listed on the restaurants Facebook page.

With the name Heart Attack Grill does it really surprise anyone that this restaurant has been taken off life support in two different locations.

Well, that is just unfortunate- the young man who was spokesman for the Mesa, Arizona Heart Attack Grill has died of flu-related pneumonia at the age of 29.

Blair River was a big man- 6’8″ tall and weighing nearly 600 lbs. He acted out a “larger than life caricature” promoting a restaurant that served up massive burgers and lard-cooked fries, and Heart Attack Grill founder Jon Basso says his staff is heartbroken:

“Cynical people might think this (River’s death) is funny,” Basso said. “But people who knew him are crying their eyes out. There is a lot of mourning going on around here. You couldn’t have found a better person.”

Basso described River, a financial planner for the University of Phoenix, as the “creative genius” behind the Heart Attack Grill’s notorious ads. Basso says that even if River was a tiny guy, his personality would have won the spot in the ads- ads which he’s had to stop playing in the restaurant because staff was getting “too emotional.”

“We’re like a family here and he was part of our family,” Arreola said. “He will be missed. He’ll definitely be missed.”

The Heart Attack Grill is under attack from the nursing lobby, not becuase they refuse to serve diet coke, sell cigarettes without filters, or hamburgers called the quadruple bypass. No, Heart Attack grill is in trouble because the owner of Heart Attack Grill dresses the waitresses as “nurses” so after you have eaten your single, double to triple bypass the slutty nurse professional wait staff will wheel you out to your car.

The nursing lobby says this gives nurses a bad name and encourages the stereotype of “slutty nurses” and gives people the idea that nurses are people you can have “anonymous sex” with.

I love the journo’s comment, “what’s next Doctors coming after Dr Pepper?” We think that will just be Guns and Roses fans.

The nurses lobby comment that this sort of thing stops people from becoming nurses and therefore kills thousands of people is a joke. I can’t wait to seem them take on the porn industry, because they have been naughty, naughty boys with their portrayal of nurses.

Of course the biggest winner here will be the Heart Attack Grill and their campaign about political correctness, which has received a massive boost of free publicity that shuld see the owners laughing all the way to the deep fryer.
