Being drunk at work appears to be a popular trend this week, first Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak announced last week that he was drunk at work while filming episodes of his popular gameshow and now Daniel Radcliffe has made the same claim.

Radcliffe told British celebrity magazine Heat this week that he went to work on the set of Harry Potter while he was drunk.

According to the A-List star:

“I went into work still drunk. I can point to many scenes where I’m just gone. Dead behind the eyes. I have a very addictive personality. It was a problem.”

Radcliffe says he never actually drank at work but often arrived drunk, noting:

“People with problems like that are very adept at hiding it. It was bad. I drank a lot and it was … nightly.”

His current employers however can rest assured that drinking won’t be a problem on future jobs because he’s stopped drinking, as he puts it:

“You either have to change something, or give into that shame.”

Daniel Radcliffe went down a dark road with his addiction to alcohol at a very young age, however Pat Sajak tells just the opposite version of his own story, almost joking around about drinking margaritas with Vanna White during filming breaks.

Daniel Radcliffe’s first post-Harry Potter movie will be opening next week. “The Woman in Black,” a dark thriller about a young lawyer and a vengeful ghost, opens on February 3rd.

“The Woman in Black” is Radcliffe’s first movie since the end of the Harry Potter series. The Denver Post reports that Radcliffe has done  ”How to Succeed in Business” on Broadway since ending Potter, but this is his first venture back to the big screen.

Radcliffe said:

“I never expected the first thing I did after ‘Potter’ to be a horror film or anything like that. That was one of the reasons it was intriguing to me as well because it was so unexpected.”

Radcliffe said:

“This film is a film that has a great story but it is driven by characters at the heart of it. It fit in perfectly. It was going to be filming when I was on break from finishing “Potter” and starring in “How to Succeed,” so it was perfectly timed out. Also, when I was reading the script, I was surprised to be enjoying a horror film because I have never gravitated towards that in my own life.”

Radcliffe’s role in “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” has now been handed to Nick Jonas who made his debut last night.  

Radcliffe has an enormous following of fans due to the success of Harry Potter and has received some acting acclaim for his role in “Equus.” But Radcliffe still isn’t sure about his acting talents, although he does say that he’s getting the hang of it.

Radcliffe said:

“Sometimes I really feel like I’m getting the hang of it, because I never really had a process. My process was mainly that I hit my marks and I said my lines. So I’m kind of trying to find a process that allows me to find a sure fire way into a character, if it doesn’t come easily.”

The world’s most powerful wizard made his debut on “Saturday Night Live” last night. Daniel Radcliffe used an impressive American accent, made fun of internet sensations, and of course, mocked his Harry Potter fame.

In his opening monologue, Radcliffe said that he was weary of spoofing Harry Potter because it has been done so many times already by SNL.

Radcliffe said:

“I, myself have already been played by Bill Hader, Hugh Jackman, and of course, Rachel Dratch. So I asked Lorne if it we could avoid sketches like “Harry Pot Head,” or see Dumbledore working at “Harry Potterybarn. But I don’t think he listened to a word I said.”

Radcliffe’s hosting gig on SNL was widely praised. The musical guest, however, drew her fair share of criticism from the Twitterverse. Lana Del Rey’s lackluster performance drew more than a few comments on Twitter last night.

“Wow watching this ‘singer’ on SNL is like watching a 12 year old in their bedroom when they’re pretending to sing and perform. #signofourtimes.”

Perez Hilton added:

Fans of the Harry Potter series almost lost one of their most beloved characters. According to series author JK Rowling she considered killing Ron off with the unforgivable Avada Kedavra curse part way through the series.

During an interview on the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows: Part 2 DVD Rowling tells Daniel Radcliffe:

“I did seriously consider killing Ron.”

Rowling goes on to add:

“Funnily enough, I planned from the start that none of them would die,” she says. “Then midway through, which I think is a reflection of the fact that I wasn’t in a very happy place, I started thinking I might polish one of them off. Out of sheer spite. ‘There, now you definitely can’t have him anymore.’”

Even though Rowling was convinced that at least one of the main character had to die she also revealed that “in my absolute heart of hearts” she couldn’t do it.

Would you have been disappointed if Ron Weasley had bit the bullet part way through the series? It definitely could have opened Harry Potter’s love life up to more confusion and possibilities but a Harry Potter book without Ron Weasley just seems so unimaginable today.

Fans of the Harry Potter film series will want to make sure they have all 8 films before December 29, that’s the date when Warner Bros. will pull all of the potter films from store shelves, sending the series into moratorium.

Disney fans have been familiar with moratorium rights for years as that company has limited the releases of their films to develop anticipation for their return, a move that Warner Bros. sees as beneficial for their Potter series.

The Harry Potter: The Complete 8-Film Collection will be released on both DVD and Blu-Ray on November 11 at which time fans of the movies will have just over one month to pick up the complete collection before it’s pulled from shelves.

Speaking about the film series’ success EW says:

“Since Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone was released in 2001, the Harry Potter franchise has grossed more than $12.1 billion for Warner Bros. Entertainment — $5.1 billion of which came from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.”

With the holiday shopping season just around the corner it’s likely that the full Harry Potter collection will be gobbled up quickly by fans of the series who have been waiting for the full collection to make it’s debut.

Harry Potter (six awards) and Black Swan (three) were the main victors at the awards, which are held annually to celebrate the sci-fi, fantasy and horror genres in movies, TV and comic books.

Portman won for her turn in Black Swan, Radcliffe for his role in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, and Jackman for a cameo in X-Men: First Class. Fiennes clinched a ‘Best Villain’ award for his portrayal of Lord Voldemort in Harry Potter.

Categories I think we’d all like to see at the next Oscars include the ‘Holy Sh!t Scene of the Year’ (Potter again) and ‘Most Memorable Mutilation’ (Scalped Alive by Motorboat, Piranha 3D, since you asked).

The German Shepherd who played Sirius Black’s animagus form in the Harry Potter movies has been put up for adoption.

The dogs owner, stuntman Paul Thompan told the Daily Mail he can no longer give his the dog the home it needs.

I found myself spending a lot of time away from home,” Thompson told the paper, “The dogs needed more attention then I could give. It was a difficult decision to make but one I had to accept was best for the dogs.”

Here’s a cute little description written about Berry the German Shepherd:

“I am a German Shepherd and my Dad got me as a puppy, He did lots of exciting things like being a stunt man and animal training for films. That’s probably how I got my part. I love people and my best friend is Porridge who is 13 human years and who I live with. Porridge has also been in some films. Both of us are a bit wobbly in our older years but we still love life.”

In a very short period of time Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 has managed to surpass the $1 billion box office mark while taking the number 8 all-time box office spot that was previously occupied by The Dark Night.

The move into the billion dollar club also makes the final Harry Potter film the only one of the eight movies in the franchise to pass that bit milestone mark.

The movie has some hot competition on their hands this year with Transformers: Dark of the Moon already earning $983 million.

JK Rowling is giving Harry Potter fans a sneak peak of the Pottermore website which will go live in October. The “Magic Quill Contest” which runs from July 31st through August 6th will give select users access to the site ahead of schedule.

The contest is simple to participate in, throughout each day a trivia question will be posted on the Pottermore site, users who solve the question can add it to the end of the quill.pottermore.com url for example quill.pottermore.com/RonWeasley, once you access that URL you must find the magical quill which is hidden on the quill section of the site, simply find the quill and you’ll be taken to the beta registration page.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 cast a spell on the Hollywood box office this weekend with a Friday opening day take of $92.1 million, the largest domestic opening total of all time.

Putting the new record in perspective, the former number one movie on opening day was The Twilight Saga: New Moon which brought in $72.2 million during opening day two years ago.

The final Harry Potter movie also brought in $75 million in international grosses in 57 countries on Friday, bringing the movies total take since premiering overseas on Wednesday to $157.5 million for a worldwide total in the ballpark of $250 million.

The movie particularly and not surprisingly played well in Great Britain where it took in $14.8 million, the biggest single day take in the country’s history.

The movie took in more during it’s opening day than four of the last six Potter films took in during their entire opening weekends.

When all is said and done the movie may take the top opening weekend box office which is currently held by The Dark Knight which earned $158.4 million.

The Deathly Hallows Part 2 owes part of it’s massive success to the number of 3D screens where the movie was shown since 3D movies require a higher admission price and therefore increase overall gross sales numbers.
