Herman Cain is facing fresh allegations of an affair, after an Atlanta woman alleged a 13-year-long relationship with the Republican presidential candidate. Speaking to Atlanta FOX affiliate WAGA, Ginger White said her relationship with Cain, who has been married for 33 years, ended only a few months ago.

For his part, Cain (who’s becoming well-drilled in the art of issuing denials) offered a preemptive denial to White’s claims, saying she was a woman who he regarded as an “acquaintance,” and whom he had tried to help. Speaking to CNN, the businessman said:

“We will address these [allegations] when they come out. At this point, I just want to give you a heads-up, I don’t have anything to hide.”

His attorney Lin Wood was also in combative mood, telling the FOX affiliate:

“This appears to be an accusation of private, alleged consensual conduct between adults – a subject matter which is not a proper subject of inquiry by the media or the public. No individual, whether a private citizen, a candidate for public office or a public official, should be questioned about his or her private sexual life.”

Of course, while this may have been “private, alleged consensual conduct,” voters traditionally like their politicians to come with a clean record of fidelity. While Cain entered the GOP presidential candidate in promising fashion – he even led the pack for a while – allegations of sexual harassment have hammered his poll numbers.

As it is, the former Godfather’s Pizza CEO is happy to categorize Ginger White’s allegations with the numerous other accusations from other women, which he has labelled “baseless.” Indeed, he sees the accusations as a series of attempts to derail a campaign that he expects to end well:

“What this says is that somebody’s awfully afraid that I’m doing too well in this Republican nomination, to continue to dig up these stories to put a cloud and a damper on my campaign.”

What do you make of Cain as GOP candidate, and can he recover from this new round of allegations?

Don’t believe Sharon Bialek’s story? Maybe you’ll believe her boyfriend. Victor Zuckerman, Bialek’s former boyfriend, said that he and Bialek had spent an evening with Cain in the 1990s. This would contradict Herman Cain‘s story that he had never met Bialek before the accusations were made public.

Dr. Zuckerman held a news conference on Monday with attorney Gloria Allred, who is also representing Sharon Bialek. Zuckerman said that Bialek had told him about Cain’s sexual advances. Zuckerman said:

“She was upset. She said that something had happened and that Mr. Cain had touched her in an inappropriate manner. She said that she had handled it and didn’t want to talk about it any more….Like many women in the workplace, she quietly endured what she felt was a sexual assault… However, now Mr. Cain is running for the most powerful position in the world.”

The New York Times reports that Sharon Bialek said last week that she was assaulted by Herman Cain. Bialek said that Cain had put his hand under her skirt and tried to touch her after a dinner meeting.

Lin Wood, one of Cain’s attorneys, said that Zuckerman’s story is just part of the ongoing media circus.

Wood said:

“This story doesn’t merit much. It’s just a publicity stunt…” Ms. Allred has “conducted a scripted, one-sided trial.”

Wood also pointed out that Zuckerman had recently filed for bankruptcy and his story may be driven by money and not facts. During the press conference, Zuckerman confirmed that he had recently filed for bankruptcy, but denied that he was being paid to talk out against Herman Cain.

Do you believe Sharon Bialek’s story?

We first let you know about the upcoming data caps courtesy of AT&T back on March 13, 2011; well, the notifications to customers have started to go out and there’s an added bonus.

As part of the data cap roll-out AT&T has also updated, or rather made a major change to its DSL Terms of Service that all customers have to agree to. Along with that the company has also created a broadband usage FAQ in order to explain why AT&T is instituting these caps:

AT&T has experienced a dramatic increase in the amount of data that is sent and received over its wireline broadband networks. This dramatic increase is driven primarily by a small fraction of our customers. In fact, the top 2 percent of customers use about 20 percent of the total capacity on our network. A single high-traffic user can utilize the same amount of data capacity as 19 typical households. Lopsided usage patterns can cause congestion at certain points in the network, which can slow Internet speeds and interfere with other customers’ access to and use of the network.

That bunch of malarkey is all well and fine but the real killer here is hidden in the new Terms of Service.

You see under the new terms AT&T is reserving the right to cut service to any customer who they deem to be “repeatedly harassing or abusing our employees”.

Of course there is no baseline here of what will constitute harassment or abuse of AT&T employees which means that even registering a problem could be taken as harassment, depending on how bad that employee’s day is going I guess.

It’s one thing to screw your customers when it comes to their broadband access but another matter altogether when you threaten a customer’s access based on what is their constitutional right.

There is no talk of what recourse there is should a customer’s service be cut because of this new addition to the AT&T Terms of Service but if I was an customer I’d be doing whatever I could to find an alternative.

Sorry but in this case I really believe that AT&T is stepping over the line.

In a move to almost guarantee a challenge in the courts Sen. Mike Green of Raleigh County, West Virginia, introduced a bill that would see sending harassing e-mails or other computer based communications a crime. The bill was amended by the Senate Judiciary Committee to include statements posted on web pages or online forums.

So in other words – if the bill passes – you had better start watching what you say; if you live in West Virginia that is, on Facebook or any of the other social media service. After all harassment is something that can be read as many different things. The State bill says though that harassment (bullying) is the posting of untrue statements and encouraging others to spread the lies.

Civil liberties advocates question whether that goes too far.

The bill would make such statements a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of up to $500, up to six months in jail, or both. Repeat offenders would see those penalties double.

Source: Associated Press

So no more posting that your boss is an idiot if you live in West Virginia because besides getting you fired you could end up in jail.
