While the likes of John Travolta and Al Pacino seemed to have no trouble sealing their deals, the star of such cinematic classics as Herbie: Fully Loaded is holding out for more dough. Lohan has already been booted off the project once before for diva-like demands (before being reinstated), so this may not be such a massive surprise.

A rep for Fiore Productions (who are funding the film) said today, “Everyone is still attached to the film. I am not commenting on anything to do with financing though.” Hm.

Lohan or no Lohan (and let’s face it, her presence will not decide the box office success of Gotti), the film is going ahead, despite recent whispers that it had hit financial snags. The Fiore publicist was quick to add things are “very much moving forward,” and said the company was “expecting a late 2012 theatrical release.”

Quite why Lohan is so determined to screw up what looks like a seriously big gig (especially given her hardly glittering film career) is beyond me. I always saw her doing more of this for the rest of her days, so the chance to star with Al Pacino in a near-guaranteed smash probably isn’t something you should pass up if Mean Girls remains your career high point.

The John Gotti biopic isn’t out until 2013, but interest in Gotti: In the Shadow of My Father is already high. Media outlets have been keen to get their mitts on the script, leading maker Fiore Films to release dummy scripts.

In a move the mob boss himself would be proud of, Radar reports the studio distributed three decoy scripts “after it became apparent people were trying to get the actual Barry Levinson script.” There has reportedly been several failed attempts by members of the media to get an “authorized look” at what writer and director Levinson has planned.

The fake scripts are now in circulation, foiling dastardly types who wish to reveal spoilers.

Fiore Films says the mafia flick will show the relationship between a “father who lived and died by the mob code and a son who, while brought up to lead a life of crime, chose to leave that world behind and redeem himself and the Gotti name”.

Early on in development, Sylvester Stallone expressed an interest in making a ‘run and gun’ action film, but Gotti’s son, John Gotti III, was keen to stick to a father and son story. Levinson was duly brought on board.

John Travolta will be taking Gotti’s role, and will be joined by (inevitably) Al Pacino as consigliere to Carlo Gambino, Kelly Preston (as in real life, she’ll be Travolta’s wife in the film), and Lindsay Lohan, who a source close to Radar says “is very close to signing her contract.”

Filming will begin in early 2012 on location in New York City.

John Gotti Biopic: Decoy Scripts Released to Media is a post from: The Inquisitr

Chazz Palminteri has signed on to play Mafia don Paul Castellano, former head of the Gambino crime family in the upcoming Gotti biopic Gotti: In the Shadow of My Father.

The Marc Fiore produced film will begin shooting in January in New York and already features John Travolta, Al Pacino, Kelly Preston and Ben Foster.

The movie is being directed by Barry Levinson after Nick Cassavetes pulled out in April due to a scheduling issue.

The Gotti biopic hasn’t been without it’s issues, Lindsay Lohan was set to star at one point and now is said to be working on a two picture deal with Fiore that doesn’t include the biopic, before she was offered different roles Lohan was attached to the film, then fired for 24 hours before being added back into the roster.

In the meantime Joe Pesci is suing Fiore after he gained 30 pounds for one role but was then offered a different role, while Executive producer Marty Ingels was also forced off the project.

Pre-production on the movie begins in September and principle photography starts on January 3.

I’m a fan of Chazz Palminteri, now I just hope this movie sees a bit of follow through and doesn’t get stuck further in pre-production limbo before it sees the darkness of movie theaters.
