<p>The recently revamped <a href="http://www.google.com/intl/en/privacy.html">&#8220;Privacy&#8221; section</a> &#8212; now accesssible at the bottom of the Google homepage &#8212; takes you to a detailed listing of all of Google&#8217;s policies and procedures. You can find everything from <a href="http://gmail.google.com/gmail/help/privacy.html">policies on Gmail</a> and <a href="http://www.google.com/goog411/privacy.html">GOOG-411</a> to user-friendly videos on <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kLgJYBRzUXY">search privacy</a>, <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfZLztx8cKI">cookie functioning</a>, and even <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XyuGCI7o_2c">unlisting your number</a> from the Google phone book feature:</p>
<p><object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/XyuGCI7o_2c&#038;hl=en&#038;fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/XyuGCI7o_2c&#038;hl=en&#038;fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object></p>
<p>Google told the <a href="http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/07/04/google-changes-home-page-adding-link-to-privacy-policy/">New York Times</a> it decided to make the link more prominent after requests by &#8220;users, bloggers, and regulatory bodies,&#8221; noting that the section is also now accessible via the results pages. </p>
<p>The <a href="http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2008/07/what-comes-next-in-this-series-13-33-53.html">Official Google Blog</a> has an interesting little sidebar about how carefully designers monitor the word count on the regular home page, and how they dropped the word &#8220;Google&#8221; from the copyright to make room for the &#8220;Privacy&#8221; link without having any more words.</p>

<p>Google has just expanded its <a href="http://www.google.com/mobile/goog411/index.html">GOOG-411</a> service to the country. Canadians can get in on the action by dialing 1-800-GOOG-411 from any phone. The number will look up business listings for free and then connect you, all via a simple-to-use voice recognition system.</p>
<p>The Canadian version of GOOG-411 is even modified to recognize the different dialect there compared to in America, so you can say &#8220;aboot&#8221; and not have to worry about being misunderstood.</p>
