Say what you want about the animal rights group PETA at least they have not went to the extreme love of animals that Meredith Lowell, 27, attempted to achieve. Meredith is accused of attempting to hire a hitman to kill a random fur-wearing member of the public.

To find a fur-hating hitman Lowell is alleged to have created a fake Facebook profile which she then used to solicit a potential hitman.

In her rather morbid Facebook request Lowell said she wanted the fur wearing person to be either shot or knifed to death at a local library so she could watch the murder take place in public.

After the random victim was killed Meredith Lowell then planned to pass out animal cruelty pamphlets to people who witnessed the kill.

Meredith was caught after an undercover FBI agent contacted her for more information. Meredith then emailed the following instructions to the FBI agent:

“Bring a sharp knife that is at least 4 inches long, it should be sharp enough to stab someone with and/or to slit their throat to kill them.”

The crazy animal rights activist then added that the victim should be at least 12-years-old but preferably 14 or older. Meredith then added that she wanted them “dead in less than 2 minutes (under 2 minutes or 1 minute or less would be better.)”

Shortly after the email was sent the FBI agent jumped into action and Meredith Lowell was arrested on Tuesday.

Kim Kardashian is the latest target of attention-seeking animal rights group PETA, which puts me in quite the dilemma: who do I loathe more in this story? Only kidding, it’s Kardashian. By a Kountry mile.

The reality star has been named one of PETA’s ‘Grinches of the Year’ for her ongoing commitment to wearing fur. That’s in stark contrast to her little sis Khloe, who posed naked for her own “I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur” PETA ad (despite err, wearing fur). Anyway, here’s what PETA had to say about Kim’s fur-ocious appetite for a nice fur … whatever that is in the pic above:

“It took Kim Kardashian just 72 days of marital bliss to shed her husband Kris Humphries. It’s too bad the socialite princess doesn’t have the same penchant for shedding her animal skin collection. Unlike her sister Khloe, who starred in her own PETA anti-fur campaign, Kim just can’t seem to divorce herself from fur and say ‘I do’ to a more compassionate wardrobe.”

*Trying to be outraged by PETA mocking a woman’s broken marriage … can’t … quite … manage … it.*

PETA didn’t stop at Kardashian, however: also on the Grinch list were Janet Jackson and “We Bought a Zoo” director Cameron Crowe. Hell, all three are more deserving of a hysterical PETA campaign than poor old Mario.

If PETA had its way Janet Jackson would be on the naughty list as the singer topped the animal rights’ group list of celebrity grinches this year.

And PETA had some pretty serious words for the Jackson sister.

PETA Writes:

“When Janet Jackson had her infamous “wardrobe malfunction” during the Super Bowl, at least the flesh that popped into view was her own—unlike the stolen animal skins that she drapes herself with, which are as dead as her taste in fashion (not to mention her career). Ms. Jackson, you’re just plain nasty.”

According to StarPulse, Jackson will be launching her own fur line in 2012. Jackson has teamed up with Blackglama to create a luxury mink collection, which will feature everything from coats to gloves.

Jackson said:

“The art of fashion is one of my great passions. I’ve worked for years to bring a collection into the world. Partnering with Blackglama is very exciting.”

Of course, Jackson isn’t the only celebrity to offend PETA this year. Cameron Crowe and Kim Kardashian were both high up on the list of celebrity grinches this year.

PETA took issue with Cameron Crowe’s latest movie, “We Bought a Zoo,” because the movie used real animals instead of state-of-the-art computer imaging, and Kim Kardashian because unlike her sister Khloe she hasn’t starred in her own PETA anti-fur ad.

PETA spokeswoman Wendy Wegner said:

“While the holidays may be known as the season of giving and peace on earth, that’s not always the case for our animal friends.”

Animal rights group and serial point-missers PETA have a new target in their sights: Super Mario.

The Nintendo mascot has attracted the ire of PETA because he “wears the skin of a raccoon dog to give him special powers.” This, argues PETA, means Mario has a “pro-fur” stance. Yesterday, the not-for-profit group launched its ‘Mario Kills Tanooki‘ campaign, complete with a Flash-based platformer called Super Tanooki Skin 2D, in which a skinless raccoon tries to chase down Mario and get back its hide. They say:

“When on a mission to rescue the princess, Mario has been known to use any means necessary to defeat his enemy – even wearing the skin of a raccoon dog to give him special powers. Tanooki may be just a ‘suit’ in Mario games, but in real life, tanuki are raccoon dogs who are skinned alive for their fur. By wearing Tanooki, Mario is sending the message that it’s OK to wear fur.”

What PETA seems to have forgotten (or plain doesn’t realize) is that ‘tanuki’ dogs have been a part of Japanese folklore since ancient times. Furthermore, the tanuki in Japan is considered a master of disguise and shapeshifting. In short, I seriously doubt pushing a pro-fur agenda was on Nintendo’s mind.

PETA also neglects to mention that nobody in the recorded history of the universe has ever mentally equated with Mario with the skinning of raccoon dogs. Until now, obviously.

Anyway, Nintendo has now responded to PETA’s ranting to Eurogamer:

“Mario often takes the appearance of certain animals and objects in his games. These have included a frog, a penguin, a balloon and even a metallic version of himself. These lighthearted and whimsical transformations give Mario different abilities and make his games fun to play. The different forms that Mario takes make no statement beyond the games themselves.”

Exactly. Now I advise you all go buy Super Mario 3D Land and a Nintendo 3DS. It’s really very good.

If you opened this article hoping someone, somewhere had finally taken the initiative to ban furries, I’m afraid you will be leaving sadly disappointed.

Yes, there is a fur ban in West Hollywood, but the ban deals with the pricey, wearable kind of fur and not the creepy, fandomsexual genre. The use of fur in fashion is not without controversy, and the practice has fallen out of favor to a degree in recent years given high-profile fur bashings in the 80s and 90s. While some designers have still adhered to the use of animal fur in their pieces, many eschew the product as it leads to the deaths of animals for no other reason than to utilize their shiny, warm pelts for fashion purposes. Anti-fur activists estimate that 8 million animals per year are trapped for their fur, while 30 million are raised solely for that purpose.

Given the controversial nature of the fashion choice, the fur ban should not be entirely surprising. Lawmakers in the California city of West Hollywood voted 3-1 on the decision with one abstention vote on the measure. And the fur ban does not extend to the wearing of fur- an important distinction- it merely limits the sale of the love-it-or-hate-it material within the borders of the tiny jurisdiction.

Those who oppose the bill say that out of around 200 clothing stores in West Hollywood, about half sell some fur-related things and those items are estimated to account for about $2 million in revenue for all the shops combined each year. The ordinance was given extra time before going into effect on September 21st, 2013 so city officials can determine the impact on local commerce.

Poor Li Lo cant take a trick. PETA activists were on hand last night club where, lover Samantha Ronson was supposed to be spinning a few tracks and flour bombed her. The French aminmal activist shouted “Fur Hag” at Lindsay Lohan before launching the flour bomb.

This is how PETA gloated about it on their blog.

Lindsay Lohan’s tan turned noticeably paler tonight after an anti-fur activist showered her with flour at a nightclub in Paris. Lindsay was on her way into the VIP room on the Champs-Elysées just after 1 a.m. early Saturday when she had an entire bag of flour dumped over her head.

When Lindsay was named to PETA’s annual Worst-Dressed List earlier this year, her entry read: “I Know Who Killed Me isn’t just the title of Lindsay Lohan’s latest bomb, it’s the cry of the animals snuffed out so that this ‘mean girl’ can pose in their pelts. Lindsay, there’s no road to recovery for the foxes who are anally electrocuted so that you can look skanky.”

Will she get the message? PETA hopes so, PETA Europe spokesperson Robbie LeBlanc said

“There is nothing remotely ‘fashionable’ about the torture and death of animals killed for fur. Lindsay Lohan might be able to ignore images of bloody animals skinned alive for their pelts, but we hope a dash of flour will help her rise to the occasion and forsake fur once and for all.”

Lindsay just can’t seem to make up her mind. Its a bit of a theme, because back in 2006 when PETA were finalising their worst drssed list for the year she told PETA she was “trying to weed the real fur from [her] wardrobe.” But then that was so 2006 and back when she liked boys.
