Sounds like Matt LeBlanc would be up for a Friends reunion. While being papped in Los Angeles on Saturday night by TMZ, LeBlanc was asked if a reunification of Ross, Joey, Phoebe, Chandler, Monica and Rachel was possible.

“I wish,” he quipped, helping girlfriend Andrea Anders into a black SUV. “I could use the money.”

Watch TMZ’s video and LeBlanc’s remark seems a little tongue-in-cheek. Still, the idea of a Friends reunion is not entirely new – remember the 2009 rumor of a Friends movie? That was eventually proven untrue, and let’s all be very grateful for that, shall we?

I suspect LeBlanc was definitely joking about the money – at least, I hope he was. The Friends cast were paid a cool million bucks per episode back when the sitcom was at its peak. With the series still repeated constantly across the globe, I imagine their fortunes haven’t shrunk too severely.

The 44-year-old LeBlanc seems to be coping well in his post-Friends life. He scooped a Golden Globe award on Sunday for his role as himself in Episodes (thankfully not the appalling British version). Speaking to press at the awards gala, LeBlanc credited the “brilliantly gifted” writers David Crane and Jeffrey Klarik for his victory in the Best Actor in a TV Musical or Comedy category. And on the subject of Friends, he added:

“It’s really hard to compare [Episodes] to Friends. Friends was such a once in a lifetime thing… To be one of those six actors on that show was something I’ll never forget as long as I live.”

At one time or another each person has had someone come into their life that makes a lasting impact. To music icon Justin Timberlake that person is Jessica Biel.

Even though the couple, who began dating in 2007, formally announced their split earlier this March, Biel obviously still holds a place near and dear in JT’s heart.

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair Magazine, Justin was asked to talk about Jessica. He had the following to say:

“I would rather not talk about her, because it’s hurtful for me. I don’t want to say much more, because I have to protect things that are dear to me — for instance, her. She is the single handedly most significant person in my life. In my 30 years, she is the most special person, OK? So I protect it and until somebody shows me what would be more fulfilling at this point, that’s what I have to do.”

Despite the tough break up the two have apparently found a way to stay amicable. At a recent party thrown by a mutual friend, they were spotted chatting it up, and even shared a kiss (on the cheek) upon their departure from the celebration.

With the multitude of ugly Hollywood break ups that occur it’s great to see a pair that still treat each other with kindness.

Smartphone app discovery is a difficult, and often time consuming, past time that everyone with a smartphone engages in. What with the constant influx of new apps that arrive daily mixed in with the older apps as well as the .. well .. garbage apps it can be hard to find just that perfect app you were looking for.

Well for iPhone users there is some salvation out there in the form of Zwapp.

Recently launched Zwapp aims to make it easier for you to find the apps you want by interacting with your friends that you create an app community by selecting them from your Facebook and Twitter friend lists. From that live feed you get to see what your friends are downloading and installing on their iPhones (Android coming soon) and have discussions around those apps as well.

Additionally Zwapp detects the apps you already have installed and adds them to your Zwapp profile which you can then share with the wider web.

As Alexander van Elsas describes Zwapp:

“We wanted to make the app discovery process more engaging. Instead oflooking through long lists of popular apps in the store, you can now discover apps with yourfriends. Even better, when you look up an app,  you can see what friends are using it and whatthey think about it, instead of reading comments or reviews from people you do not know”.

Now just a bit of a disclaimer. I have known the CEO of Zwapp, Alexander van Elsas, for a number of years and consider him a good friend but writing this post was a little difficult since I am not an iPhone user so I can’t give a full accounting of what I think is a great idea. However it has been whispered that along with an upcoming Android release of Zwapp there is a possibility of one being released for Windows Phone 7. When that happens I will definitely be revisiting this interest concept of sharing and find good smartphone apps.

You know when you meet someone and you feel like you’ve known them since time immemorial and you’re total instant BFFs?

According to a limited study at Princeton utilizing MRI scans, it like totally happened. The study used magnetic resonance to monitor brain patterns during conversations and found some evidence to back up conversational “clicking”:

The scans showed that the listeners’ brain patterns tracked those of the storyteller almost exactly, though trailed 1 to 3 seconds behind. But in some listeners, brain patterns even preceded those of the storyteller.

“We found that the participants’ brains became intimately coupled during the course of the ‘conversation’, with the responses in the listener’s brain mirroring those in the speaker’s,” says Uri Hasson of Princeton University.

Hasson’s team measured overlap in the patterns between participants, showing when the overlap in brain patterns was similar, listeners recounted stories more accurately. The “clicking” didn’t occur when the stories were told in Russian, a language unintelligible to the listeners. Concluded Hasson:

“The more similar our brain patterns during a conversation, the better we understand each other.”

David Schwimmer, the actor best known for his portrayal of Rachel-obsessed Paleontologist Ross Geller on 90s NBC hit Friends, has gotten engaged.

Schwimmer, 45, reportedly met 24-year-old photographer Zoe Buckman on the set of the film Run, Fatboy, Run in 2007 when she was working as a waitress. Prior to his involvement with Buckman, Schwimmer was involved with singer Natalie Imbruglia, French actress Emmanuelle Perret and Israeli actress Mili Avital. In the years since Friends ended, Schwimmer has voiced characters for the animated Madagascar movies, as well as doing stints on 30 Rock and HBO comedies Curb Your Enthusiasm and Entourage. He was working in a directorial capacity on Run, Fatboy, Run when he met his fiance.

Schwimmer’s agent confirmed the engagement to Entertainment Weekly. It will be the first marriage for both.

The success of the Sex and the City movie is driving a new TV show reunion for the big screen: Friends: The Movie.

James Michael Tyler, who played Gunther in the series, spilled the beans, saying that David Schwimmer, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and Matthew Perry are all returning.

“Friends: The Movie is definitely on. I still keep in touch with a lot of the cast and they say that they are really keen. I am definitely on board to do the film. I really loved my time on the show and I am looking forward to meeting up with the old gang again. I just hope we can do justice to the show in a film.”

Original series writers David Crane and Marta Kauffman have been signed to write the movie, according to News of the World.

“Everyone knew the story had to be right and well written. Getting the creators on board was a massive step forward for the project. The show did lose a lot of its shine in the last few seasons, but with the actors all in the forties it would be a real interest to see how their characters have developed.”

Friends: The Movie is scheduled for release mid 2011.

Back in July I passed along the story of Australian company uSocial who were offering the help you get some new friends on Twitter – for a price. Even back then I said this was a scummy idea and I still feel the same but that doesn’t seem to have slowed the company down as they now have Facebook firmly in their sights.

Citing the problem with being able to get any large enough traction on Facebook as their reason for their service of helping people and companies is to increase the potential of contacting enough people to make promotional programs worthwhile. As with their Twitter service uSocial offers multi-tiered packages that start at a 1,000 friends and goes up to 100,000 friends. The cost for this wonderful service ranged from the base amount of $177 and up to $1,167.

“All we do is send them a welcome message or friend request from the client. If they decide to go ahead and add that person as a friend or a fan then they will; if not, then they won’t,” Mr. Hill told Australian media.

One of the big terms used in Social Media is that of personal and corporate brands and how important they are. The idea being that as individuals we can create a recognizable brand around who we are, what be profess to believe and how we act. With corporations the idea isn’t much different that what corporate brands have been considered as for a very long time only now they are suppose to include the idea of being open and transparent.

Twitter not long ago created a bit of a furor when they added a recommendation system with people wondering how they were benefitting from that placement of obvious celebrity names and other famous people so front and center. Twitter has stated that they aren’t receiving anything for people’s names figuring prominently in this Recommended list.

It look now though that Facebook could be headed into the same firestorm as they have just turned on a feature hat promotes the recommendation of brands as friends. This isn’t just having Coca Cola or Kotex showing up as recommended brands for you to add as a friend. It also includes so-called tech luminaries and other miscellaneous famous people.

When Nick O’Neill from AllFacebook first spotted this he noticed names like Britney Spears, Sara Lacy, the Colorado Rockies, Chris Pan, Sheryl Crow and Carmen Electra begin recommended brands for him to add as friends.

I was also recommended to the public profile for “I want to sleep … 5 more minutes!” An entertaining group but I’m not sure how many of my personal friends are actually fans. Based on the diverse selection of public profiles that I’ve been recommended to, it appears as though recommendations are a mixture of pages your friends are fans of as well as popular public profiles in general.

I’m not really sure how much of an uproar this further commercialization of Facebook will cause because unlike Twitter Facebook is all about making money – at any cost and by any means. People who have been on Facebook for sometime have obviously come to accept this as part of the deal for using the service so they will probably just slough if off. New members to Facebook will just think that is is how it always has been and won’t care one way or another.

Personally it just give another reason to keep my visits there to a bare minimum.

Courteney Cox Arquette was on Ellen this week, talking up her new movie, Bed Time Stories with Adam Sandler and other stuff.

The Friends stuff won’t leave her alone though and she revealed she is the only cast member interested in doing a spin-off movie.

“The show was great, but I don’t know. I don’t think we’re going to do it. People keep talking about it, I wish we would.”

Then she added, “Why do I say the words, ‘I wish we would’? Then it’s going to be like, ‘Courteney wants to do the thing (movie), but the rest of the cast doesn’t.’”

Sounds like Sex and the City, but eveyone came around in the end. Could it be the same with Friends?

How would a Friends movie work, Courteney isn’t sure, “Well, it all took place around an apartment and a coffee shop so I don’t know what would we do? We went to England once, and was that great? I’m not sure,” she said.

She isn’t sure about much.

Not only is Jennifer still reliving her relationship drama (which may or may not be acceptable, depending on which camp you’re with), but she’s also back to talking about Friends! Oh, the agony: Jen hit the New York Times Magazine to talk about old stuff again, which is a healthy thing to do at this point under extreme scrutiny. Sure.

“There are times I don’t even remember that particular show. This is horrible to say, but there are times when I laugh my rear end off. And I get in debates with people who are over and say, ‘Friends’ is not my thing.’ Excuse you!”

Is Jen still dreaming about her heydey? Maybe dating John Mayer does that to you. What happened to her Marley & Me promotions? I think she should get back to those or just talk more about He’s Just Not That Into You, because I’d be happy with comments about anything post-2004.

Can we handle another TV-series blockbuster follow-up after the Sex and the City? According to MailOnline and their “insiders,” the film will be developed “within the next 18 months.”

Jennifer, Courteney and the rest of the cast are keen to reprise their roles, under the right circumstances. The box office success of Sex And The City has really got their wheels spinning about how a Friends film could be just as big, if done right. Timing and the script are really important, but now that Courteney and Jen both have production companies, they can potentially get very involved in those decisions.

Rumor has it that Jennifer Aniston wasn’t keen on getting back together because she was “too famous,” but maybe being in loooove has softened her up a little.
