It’s no secret that Orlando Magic star Dwight Howard wants to leave the team after his contract expires at the end of this season but he could stay in place if Magic owner Richard Devos has anything to say about it.

The 85-year-old wheel-chair bound Devos made an unexpected visit to the teams dressing room on Wednesday where in no specific terms he said:

“I don’t want to trade him.”

He continued by revealing that talks with Dwight’s reps have been progressing:

“We like to think we’re making headway. But I don’t know. He probably won’t know until the end and I won’t either.”

While his sentiments may be true he didn’t receive a warm reception from Howard who virtually ignored the owner’s presence in the locker room while players Jason Richardson and Daniel Orton both headed over to greet their boss when he entered the room.

When asked if he would be willing to give a percentage to the chance that Howard will stay with the Magic he said ”I don’t gamble on that, I just plan on him staying.”

In the meantime it’s the owners younger son Richard Devos Jr. who is in charge of negotiations with Howard and he says of current talks:

“You never give up. We’ve got a great talent, a great young man. He’s got to look at his options (and) what’s best for him and I have to tell him what I think is best for him. I’m selfish.”

At just 26-years-old Howard still has a good amount of basketball ahead of him and with an average of 20.9 points per game with 15.1 rebounds it would be a shame for the Orlando Magic to lose him.

Fort Lauderdale, Florida- A judge in Broward County, Florida has made international headlines after an unconventional ruling in a domestic assault case in his jurisdiction- ordering a man who came before him to take his wife on a date to Red Lobster.

While domestic violence is certainly a very grave matter, Judge John “Jay” Hurley said the incident- in which Plantation, Florida resident Joseph Bray raised a fist to his wife but did not strike her- was mild and a “minor incident, in the court’s opinion.” After confirming Bray’s wife did not fear him and that the man had never been in trouble before, he began to ask the woman- with whom the altercation began after Bray had failed to acknowledge her birthday- about her wishes for an ideal birthday celebration.

After confirming her favorite activities and restaurant, Judge Hurley made the unusual ruling, and ordered Bray to essentially go on a date with his own wife. The Judge said:

“He’s going to stop by somewhere and he’s going to get some flowers. And then he’s going to go home, pick up his wife, get dressed, take her to Red Lobster. And then after they have Red Lobster, they’re going to go bowling.”

Lest it be suggested that the ruling makes light of violence in the home, the Judge clarified that there were several factors that were taken into account when considering the unusual ruling. Hurley explained:

“The court would not normally do that if the court felt there was some violence but this is very, very minor and the court felt that that was a better resolution than other alternatives.”

In addition, Bray and his wife have been ordered to attend marital counseling within the week.

Lego officials have publicly apologized for an incident that happened at their Legoland Winter Haven, Florida location between a breastfeeding mother and a park employee.

According to Kelly Sabourin, 39, she was watching two of her children play while nursing her 2-year-old daughter Keigin when she was approached by a Legoland employee who told her she had to move.

According to Sabourin the Legoland employees walked up to her and her friend Susan Williams and said they had to relocate because she couldn’t breastfeed in front of other guests. Kelly held her ground and the employee stood by her side, blocking the breastfeeding mother from the rest of the room and her own children until she finished feeding her child.

Susan told WTSP:

“I was shocked. I’ve never experienced first-hand someone being asked to stop nursing at a family-friendly place like Legoland.”

Kelly added:

“She was blocking me from the rest of the room.  It’s something I celebrate, I love doing with my child, and all of a sudden I’m being led to believe what I’m doing is shameful that I need to hide it in some room instead of making it a normal everyday thing especially when they’re are using the phrase ‘family-friendly place’”.

The strangest part of the incident is that it happened in the Legoland Baby Care Center which features a changing area, a bottle warming center and a kid-friendly bathroom.

Speaking of the incident Legoland publicist Jacquelyn Wallace noted:

“We allow breastfeeding moms to nurse anywhere throughout the park but we’ve created these nursing bays.” She adds, “Each bay has a white rocking chair for mom, a foot stool, a small rocking chair for another child and an electrical outlet for charging phones or any other need.”

Wallace went on to admit that when sharing news of the new Baby Center with park employees and the company’s “moms can nurse anywhere” policy there was “a lapse in communication” between management and Legoland employees.

She adds:

“We were actively promoting this facility to our employees to share with our guests. We failed to remind our employees our policy is to allow mothers to feed their children anywhere and however they choose.”

In fact the company didn’t really have a choice, according to Florida law 383.015 on Maternal and Infant Health Care:

A mother may breastfeed her baby in any location, public or private, where the mother is otherwise authorized to be, irrespective of whether or not the nipple of the mother’s breast is covered during or incidental to the breastfeeding.

For its part Legoland has taken full responsibility for the incident and has promised to make breastfeeding mothers feel comfortable in their facilities.

Let the mud-slinging begin! Though Republican presidential hopefuls have been flirting with playing dirty over the past year, Newt Gingrich is coming out hot against rival Mitt Romney, even as he squeaks ahead of the latter in the polls.

Gingrich’s super PAC is throwing down arms in the Florida mudslinging match with a new ad pulling down the pants of Romney’s well-worn and beaten mandate-based healthcare implementation for the state of New Hampshire and laughing like a 7th grader.

The Winning Our Future PAC, riding cloud 9 thanks to a $5 million donation from the wife of Vegas casino owner Sheldon Adelson, just bought $6 million worth of airtime for the ad which ties Romney to President Obama, calling the two “running mates” and using old Romney quotes like: “I’m someone who is moderate. My views are progressive.”

Given Gingrich’s vast repertoire of personal scandal (which has and will continue to come out), the former speaker is already bracing for impact by turning the frown of marital infidelity upside-down, hinting that his wandering ways are an asset and even taking another dig at Romney:

“I think most people can identify,” he said. “It may make me more normal than somebody who wanders around seeming perfect and maybe not understanding the human condition, and the challenges of life for normal people.”

No response so far from Romney’s camp, and though the cool-as-cucumber Romney won’t be able to resist forever, doing so might be the prudent move. Gingrich is already metaphorically standing across from him taunting him into the arena, and a reluctant Romney can’t help but wonder what else he has up his sleeves.

Kind of makes you yearn for a time when disagreements were settled the gentlemanly way. Pistols. At dawn.

A man who was caught on camera shooting a change machine is now being hunted by police – despite the machine refusing to cough up a single cent. In a word, fail.

The armed robbery took place in Winter Haven, Fla., at the ‘Busy Bubbles’ laundromat. CCTV footage shows a man bursting into the laundromat, unloading several rounds from a semi-automatic handgun into the change machine, and then fleeing after the device failed to give up its bounty. Outfought by a change machine. No wonder he’s hiding.

Despite the fact that no money was stolen and nobody was injured (an unarmed change machine aside), police are still after the perpetrator because he fired a weapon in an attempted robbery – the official term for the charge is ‘criminal mischief.’

The shooting went unnoticed for some time before police were contacted, because it was only after the manager saw the machine and checked CCTV surveillance footage that the shooting was discovered.

The suspect is described as an African-American man, average height and weight, wearing a gray hoody and dark baggy pants.

Florida has some of the highest levels of weapons-related crime in the U.S., yet attacks on inanimate (and totally innocent) objects are, er, slightly rarer. Well done to the change machine for holding out.

A sign of desperation?  Mitt Romney has said for the record that he will release his 2010 tax returns by Tuesday.  Also on Tuesday he will give an estimate on how long it will be until he can release his 2011 return.

It has not been the best of weeks for Mitt Romney.  First, his win in the Iowa Caucus turned out to not be a win.  The official vote tally put Ex-Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum on top giving him a win in the State.  Then after winning New Hampshire and the media talking about the inevitability of his nomination he took a major shellacking in South Carolina, losing the state by more than 12% points.

Romney has been dogged all week about his time running Bain Capital, his tax returns, his wealth, his tax rate and whether some of his vast fortune is held over seas.

Newt Gingrich has largely been the winner in the dog fight between the candidates, winning South Carolina and moving with avalanche size momentum going into Florida next week.

It seems as if Romney, who has been heavily portrayed as being out of touch with average Americans, is doing a great job of living up to the charge.  It seems as if he just doesn’t get the mood of America in an economic downtime.  He seems to think that Americans will be impressed by his business resume but at the same time doesn’t realize that Americans are not very happy with a candidate worth $250 million dollars but only pay a 15% tax rate.  With a Candidate who calls his speaking income “not much money” even though the amount he made was more than $350,000 in one year alone.  People especially don’t like the idea that Romney seems to want to avoid the question when anyone asks him about his wealth, and then seems to not have been aware that these questions may have come up.

Republican voters for the most part are seeing a side of Mitt Romney they don’t like.  He already is viewed with suspicion for signing a law in Massachusetts enforcing an individual mandate, supporting gay rights and flip flopping on abortion, but this weeks problems are even bigger than that.  Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum are hardly class warfare enthusiasts.  They are both supporters of the free market system. Republicans in general are free market people.  But when Gingrich and Santorum can hound Romney for his business actions and Republicans are listening, imagine what will happen when the whole country is listening and Obama starts nailing him?

Gabrielle Union pulled out all the stops to celebrate boyfriend Dwayne Wade’s 30th birthday on Sunday night.

Union threw the Miami Heat player his own private birthday bash at the Setai Hotel in South Beach near Miami. Among other famous guests, Rick Ross, T.I., Usher, and Common were in attendance. Many of Wade’s teammates and friends were also present, including LeBron James, Chris Bosh, Udonis Haslem, Alonzo Mourning and Pat Riley.

Singer Kelly Rowland gave the basketball star his own personal performance, doing her own twist on the “Happy Birthday” song. T.I., Ross, and Common also got on stage for surprise performances.

Present-wise, Union gave Wade a 2012 McLaren MP4-12C, a vintage bottle of Dom Perignon, and a Hublot 3000 watch, covered in diamonds. His monolithic birthday cake was covered in silver confection with a bowtie, suspenders, and a top hat.

So what’s the word on the romance between these two cute kids? They seem to be getting along great and spending a lot of time together, but recently said that marriage is not on the books; neither want to rush matrimony, a wise move seeing that both have been married before.

Union was married to NFL running back Chris Howard between 2001 and 2006, and Wade to his high school sweetheart Siohvaughn Funches until 2007.

“We understand that if we choose to marry again, we want it to be right,” the couple said.

When OJ Simpson was sued in civil court over the Nicole Brown Simpson murder case he purchased a home in Florida, under state law your home can not be confiscated by the court in a civil lawsuit. While the move at the time was a smart decision on OJ’s part it looks as if he’ll be losing his home regardless of his move to the sunshine state.

According to court records JPMorgan Chase bank is foreclosing on the 4 bedroom, 4 bathroom residence OJ calls home in the city of Miami.

OJ purchased the home in 2000 for $575,000 however the home was recently assessed at just $478,401 thanks to the real estate bust.

It’s not exactly as if OJ Simpson was enjoying the home, he’s currently serving time in a Nevada prison for kidnapping, armed robbery and various other charges for his involvement in a 2007 incident in which he stole a bunch of sports memorabilia at gunpoint.

After the robbery OJ Simpson claimed that the memorabilia belonged to him and he was simply taking back his rightful property.

With Simpson serving a nine to 33 year prison sentence there’s a good chance he decided to simply let the home go. Simpson is still receiving federally protected money from his NFL pension and another retirement account. But why do you need to pay for a home when you’re getting three squares a day and a bed to sleep in.

Oscar-winning actor Gene Hackman was taken to the hospital earlier today after being hit by a pickup trick while riding his bike in Florida, Hackman’s rep confirmed.

The 81-year-old actor had to be airlifted to the hospital, but his condition wasn’t serious, despite earlier reports–he was biking on the Florida Keys, and being that the Florida Keys are islands, an airlift was the only way to get Hackman to the hospital to be checked out.

In a statement to TMZ, who first broke the story, Hackman’s rep confirmed that the actor is fine, and that he only suffered ” bumps and bruises after a woman bumped him from behind in her vehicle.” The bike accident took place at around 3:00 p.m. local time, TMZ says. Hackman was released from the hospital several hours after being admitted.

A report from the Associated Press says that the actor was riding his bike without a helmet when Hackman was hit by the truck, and was thrown onto the grassy shoulder. There’s currently no word of any charges being filed against the woman who struck Hackman.

BROWARD COUNTY, Florida – Director David O. Russell (The Fighter) has been named in an event report filed by Florida authorities for misdemeanor battery.

The January 2nd report cites inappropriate contact with Russell’s 19-year-old transsexual niece, Nicole Peloquin, daughter of the director’s adopted sister, Barbara Jane Peloquin. The Broward County Sheriff’s Office spoke to both parties involved and compiled the report, which states that the incident occurred in a gym at the Embassy Suites in Deerfield Beach, Florida while the director and his niece were exercising together.

“Peloquin stated that Russell’s hand was on her stomach right above her private parts,” The report reads. The two then began discussing Peloquin’s hormone treatments to increase the size of her breasts, after which “Russell then put his hand under Peloquin’s top and felt both breasts. Peloquin said he felt uncomfortable, but did not ask Russell to stop at any time.”

The report also details incidents occuring on January 1st, saying:

“Peloquin told her mother that her stepbrother came on to her in the gym. Peloquin’s mother then called Russell to ask him what happened and he told her that nothing had happened between Peloquin and himself.”

Russell told the Sheriff’s Office that Peloquin had been acting provocative to him, and that he had asked her whether she was uncomfortable with their interaction. The director insisted that she assured him she was not.

“Being curious about the breast enhancement, Peloquin allowed Russell to feel both of his breasts. Peloquin also asked him to ‘pinky swear’ about her letting him touch her breasts.”

Russell’s people have said that the director denies any wrongdoing, and has since completely cooperated with the authorities regarding the matter.

Russell has always been said to be a difficult person to work with. Who knew he was also a dirtbag?

David O. Russell Facing Trouble For Assault Against Transsexual Niece is a post from: The Inquisitr

Elin Nordegren, ex-wife of famous golfer Tiger Woods, is a home-wrecker. Literally though, we’re not making any undue suggestions here. It’s the literal truth.

32-year-old Nordegren skated through a divorce settlement with 36-year-old Woods nabbing a cool $100 million for her troubles (read: adultery) in the summer of 2010.

In March, she decided to buy a house. Part of that whole starting over thing. It was a nice house. A 9,000 square-foot house in North Palm Beach, Florida. Oh, and did we mention it cost $12 million? There’s that. But then Nordegren decided that the six-bedroom, eight-bathroom house just wasn’t what she wanted, so she decided to bulldoze the whole thing, start over (again) and build her dream home on the same plot.

“But why not just buy the plot and build her dream home on that?”

I don’t know, guy. I just do news.

In case you’ve been in a coma, Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren divorced over several illicit affairs on the part of Woods came to light in 2010. They have two children together: 4-year-old daughter Sam, and 2-year-old son, Charlie.

Tiger Woods’ Ex Buys Mansion… Then Bulldozes It is a post from: The Inquisitr

Naples, Florida- A Florida company is in hot water after allegedly firing an employee for serving on a jury.

The ability of the court to pull jurors from the population to serve is a crucial part of the justice system, and former Island Title 5 Star Agency employee Jane Trejo-Beverly says she was fired for jury duty. The case is a bit sticky, because Trejo-Beverly was a new employee, and had been with the company only a month at the time she was allegedly fired for jury duty.

The former wedding planner says that she’d attended the company’s holiday party the night before she was called to report for jury duty, and that she didn’t believe it was likely she’d be selected- in addition to being higher than 400 on a list of 500 potentials, she also listed on the form that she had relatives in law enforcement. But Trejo-Beverly learned later that evening that she had indeed been called.

She texted her office manager both at night and in the morning, and emailed several supervisors to inform them of her obligation. But, Trejo-Beverly says, while she was at the courthouse, she received an upsetting voicemail from her office manager, notifying her that she’d not given enough notice and that she was summarily fired.

In the voicemail, boss Dawn Norgren damningly says:

“I can’t believe you didn’t give enough notice that you were going to be out of the office. Our working relationship isn’t working out. I’m going to have to terminate you.”

Norgren was later summoned to the court that same day to answer charges that she’d fired Trejo-Beverly for jury duty. A lawyer for the terminated employee said:

“This is the heart of the jury system. If jurors are afraid to serve on juries because they’ll lose their jobs, we’re not going to have trials. What this employer did was unspeakable- and hiding behind a probationary period is a pretext. There was no indication she’d be fired. She even went to the holiday party the night before.”

Fired For Jury Duty? Florida Woman Says It Happened to Her is a post from: The Inquisitr

A family of Canadian tourists saw more on their St. Petersburg, Florida vacation then they bargained for when a human leg washed ashore near the waterfront neighborhood they were visiting.

While the story could have ended there it turns out that the leg was cleanly cut at the thigh and foot, leading city detectives to determine the cause of death.

St. Petersburg police Maj. Mike Kovacsev tells the Tampa Bay Times:

“We don’t know the cause and manner of death, but obviously someone went to great lengths to dismember this body.”

Kovacsev goes on to note:

“The most important thing is identifying the person … You can’t even surmise what happened to them until we identify the victim and look into their life.”

The leg likely washed up between 6 p.m. and 7:40 a.m. which would be between the times in which the family left the beach at their rented beachfront home.

All Florida police know at this time is that the leg belongs to a “heavyset” white person and is believed to be a right limb. The leg was also cleanly shaven which makes police believe it belongs to a female.

Unfortunately the leg also lacks any type of distinct marks (tattoos, birth marks) or scars that could help aid in their investigation.

Police also suggest that the condition of the leg upon retrieval places the limb in water for two days.

Investigators will next check a list of missing persons and then work from that point to determine the origin of the human limb, likely using DNA if a match is not immediately determined. Even with DNA the person’s profile would already need to be in a law enforcement database to return a match.

The discovery of the limb comes just days after police discovered a female body floating 4 miles away in Lake Maggiore on Christmas Day. Police at this time say the two have not been connected.

Tourist Finds Cleanly Cut Human Leg On Florida Beach is a post from: The Inquisitr

PORT RICHEY, Florida -Authorities say that a Tampa Bay area man ordered a beer in a local bar, disappeared to rob a bank, and returned 30 minutes later to finish his brew.

Things happen all the time that I can’t seem to wrap my head around, and most of them revolve around the odd, whimsical stupidity of criminals. You may have heard of the Tuscaloosa, Alabama bank robbery earlier this year where a woman drew a fake beard on her face with permanent marker to disguise herself. Maybe you read on Inquisitr last year about  the Long Island man who robbed a bank – dressed as the Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Vader.

But this story is unique among them, at least for its simple practicality. Pasco County Sheriff’s Office is saying that 52-year-old John Robin Whittle walked into Port Richey’s Hayloft Bar on Thursday afternoon and, according to the bartender, ordered a beer and then disappeared for 30 minutes. Whittle then went down to a Wells-Fargo branch, robbed it, and then walked his happy self back to the Hayloft, sat down, and resumed drinking his presumably flat, lukewarm beer.

Police arrested him at the bar 10 minutes later.

Oh, to be a fly on the wall when those police walked into that bar.

Whittle remains in jail as of today with a $10,000 bond. It is currently unknown whether or not he bought Hayloft patrons a round of shots to toast his short-lived success.

I guess the reason this really bothers me is that I can’t divine anything about the man’s priorities.

ORLANDO, Florida – Roy Kronk, the meter reader who discovered the remains of 2-year-old Caylee Anthony, is now suing Casey Anthony for defamation.

Kronk’s attorney is saying that Casey Anthony’s defense team made several false statements about him during the trial, including several uncomfortable and thinly-veiled suggestions that it was Kronk himself who killed Caylee Anthony. Kronk is seeking a jury trial, and $15,000 in damages.

The aloof Casey Anthony, who was acquitted in August of murdering her daughter, has been hardly seen nor heard from since her release. Kronk’s lawsuit isn’t the only one pending against Anthony either; Zenaida Gonzalez, whose name just-so-happens to match Anthony’s imaginary nanny antagonist whom she blames for kidnapping Caylee is suing. Texas EquuSearch, a volunteer organization that spent $110,000 in multiple searches for Caylee’s body, also wants a piece of the pie.

During the trial, Kronk’s testimony, as well as that of his son, were suspicious, to put it delicately. Though he arrived in court as a Good Samaritan, his son’s testimony suggested that Kronk withheld information about Caylee’s whereabouts in order to claim reward money. Jose Baez, the lead attorney on Casey Anthony’s defense team, was trying to point the finger anywhere else possible, and did indeed make several comments that found him uncomfortably close to being held in contempt of court. It’s no stretch of the imagination that Kronk would be upset by a scourging of his person on national television, but here he is again. Looking for money.

For many of us, the Casey Anthony thing is just yesterday’s news. Some think she’s innocent, others just don’t want to talk about it. Despite her recent silence since acquittal, controversy surrounding Casey Anthony will continue to crop up. We’re in for another O.J. here, folks. And we all remember what ultimately happened to him.

Meter Reader Joins Lawsuit Crusade Against Casey Anthony is a post from: The Inquisitr

The Associated Press is reporting that Robert Middleton was set on fire when he was 8 years old and has been in the hospital ever since.  Well, as fate would have it he succumbed to his wounds 12 years later and died when he was 20.  An attorney for the family of Middleton filed a wrongful death suit against  Don Willburn Collins for setting Robert on fire 12 years ago.

Collins is in prison currently for an unrelated sex crime.  Neither he nor any attorney representing him was present for the trial.  The Texas Department of Correction has no comment on the matter.

The family knows that this verdict is symbolic and none of the money will actually ever be paid.  The wanted to make a statement by asking for more money than the second largest verdict in history, the $145 Billion dollars awarded to the State of Florida when it won its suit against the tobacco companies. The Jury was happy to comply.

Texas Family Awarded $150 Billion For Man Being Burned Alive is a post from: The Inquisitr

MIAMI, FL – Selina Hodges is only 28-years-old but a failing kidney forced her to spend nine hours a day on dialysis as she waited for a kidney transplant, a wait that ended this week thanks to free posting community Craigslist.

In July Hodge took to the site with a request for a kidney and she soon received a slew of media attention with responses from 800 people, one of those responses came from 23-year-old Florida resident Stephanie Grant who agreed to help Hodge by donating one of her own kidney’s.

The transplant was successfully performed on Tuesday and both women are said to be doing great.

While posting on Craigslist for a kidney might sound a little strange it’s not only legal when no money changes hands, it’s a practice that some doctors are recommending as they encourage patients to find their own organ donors willing to help. As the United Network for Organ Sharing group points out, while people in need of a kidney must wait on a long list a living organ donor can choose who they give their kidney to.

Speaking to WPBF after the transplant Hodge said:

Left-handed pitcher Mark Buehrle and the Florida Marlins have reached a four-year, $58 million agreement after the club failed to sign Albert Pujols despite their best efforts last week.

Speaking of the teams newest acquisition Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen said:

“This kid is special,” and “Very happy to have this kid. One of my favorite players.”

Buehrle played under Guillen when he was the manager of the Chicago White Sox.

Buehrle has played his entire 12-year major league career with the White Sox and leaves the team with a 161-119 winning record alongside a 3.83 ERA including a perfect game pitched in 2009.

Already included in the Marlins rotation are pitchers Josh Johnson, Anibal Sanchez, Ricky Nolasco and Chris Volstad. But the Marlins might not stop with Buehrle.

The Marlins have also reportedly offered free agent left-hander C.J. Wilson a six-year deal.

The Florida Marlins have committed $191 million to three free agents over the last four days, those deals include Buehrle, Reyes and Heath Bell.

Highlighting the teams willingness to spend money on top notch talent Guillen noted:

“We have what we want,” Guillen said. “Now, how about three more? You shoot for the moon, just in case.”

Florida Marlins To Sign Lefty Pitcher Mark Buehrle is a post from: The Inquisitr

The Florida Gators will take on the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Gator Bowl which quite possible could be better named the Urban Meyer bowl since he will be helping face off against his former school and interim coach Luke Fickell.

The Buckeyes (6-6) will head to Jacksonville on Jan. 2 for the event which gained a unanimous decision. The committee also had Penn State under consideration. The committees decision was based off setting a good matchup, the ability to sell tickets and the ability for fans from both schools to travel to the event and watch it on TV.

In their final ruling the committee said Penn State’s appearance in the Outback Bowl last year ultimately led their decision.

According to Gator Bowl president Rick Catlett:

“Regardless of the type of year these two teams have had, they’re still recognized around the country as two of the traditional powers in college football,” while adding “With Urban Meyer taking the Ohio State job, we think this will motivate Florida fans to attend the game.”

In the meantime the Gators (6-6) will be making their 21st bowl appearance, the second longest streak nationally, falling only behind Florida State’s 30 consecutive years.

The Gators will play in a January bowl for a seventh consecutive year in a row but for Ohio State it’s only the second ever appearance in the bowl, their first was a loss to Clemson in 1978.

Ohio State To Play Florida In Gator Bowl is a post from: The Inquisitr

Officials at Florida A&M University (FAMU) have expelled four students for their role in the November hazing death of a marching band member.

In a memo sent to the FAMU board last week university President James Ammons said all four students would be released from their time at the school although he did not offer further details about what the students had done for fear of facing lawsuits because of the incident.

On Nov. 19 marching band member Robert Champion was found unresponsive on a bus parked just outside of an Orlando hotel, his school’s football team had just lost to a rival school.

Following a 911 recording regarding Mr. Champion Florida Gov. Rick Scott demanded that all 11 state universities immediately review their anti-hazing rules and re-educate their students about the consequences of hazing.

During the 911 call an unidentified call told an emergency dispatcher that Champion had stopped breathing, stating:

“We need an ambulance ASAP … His eyes are open but he’s not responding.”

After that caller requested an ambulance they handed the phone to a second man.

The expelled students are not releasing individual statements at this time.
