Just in time for Christmas, an iconic Easter candy got a dedicated retail store in Oxon Hill, Maryland.

Marshmallow Peeps, largely associated with Easter, are available for Valentine’s Day, Christmas and Halloween in shapes such as hearts, gingerbread men, black cats, Christmas trees and snowmen. And now Peeps fanatics have a retail location to satisfy all their Peeps-related shopping needs. Peeps & Company (often abbreviated to the Tiffany-eque “Peeps & Co.”) opened a Peeps shop at National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Maryland on Thursday.

In addition to everything one could possibly want that is Peeps-themed, the store also carries merchandise related to Hot Tamales and Mike & Ike, products of the Just Born line of candies. In a statement announcing the grand opening of the location, Just Born indicated the store would offer ” an array of high-quality branded items such as apparel, gear, china and toys within a fun, branded retail location.”

Peeps have a strong fan base, frequently featuring in internet humor- according to the company, 1/3 of Peeps purchased are not consumed, but played with. A filmmaker, who documented Peeps fandom in a 45-minute film, spoke to the LA Times about the cultural fascination with Peeps:

“They manage to straddle the world between cute and horrible,” he said. “You can look into their black beady eyes and see your childhood. Or you can look into their black beady eyes and see the bleakness of the soul.”

To say 42-year-old Anthony Toth is a fan of defunct airline Pan Am is an irresponsible understatement.

Toth has drawn media attention for his lovingly detailed reconstruction of a PanAm cabin in his garage, and the Wall Street Journal profiled Toth’s long descent into madness decades-long love for the airline. The fixation started early on, and by his 10th birthday, he was requesting subscriptions to airline timetables and meticulously chronicling flight interiors on family trips. By the age of 12, Toth had already tried his hand at mocking up a PanAm cabin in his family’s basement, fashioning seats out of wood and employing collected items discarded by others on his PanAm flights like cardboard coasters and paper tray linings.

When Toth was house-hunting two years ago, he had the ambitious reconstruction project in mind and selected a home with an unusually large garage. Now he hosts fellow Pan Am fans and friends in the cabin, serving meals on Pan Am china and watching in-flight movies on an admittedly anachronistic flat-screen TV.

Pan Am was, at a time, symbolic of high-class international travel, but the company’s fortunes reversed with high fuel prices in the 70s and declined for good with the bombing of a flight over Lockerbie, Scotland in 1988.

Comic Con attendees and observant fans eagerly awaiting True Blood Season 2 Episode 7 (titled Release Me) peeped an extended teaser this weekend that appears to drop some interesting bombshells.

Fangirls and Sookie/Eric shippers (represent!) will be most intrigued by a split-second shot of a very contended Sookie in bed with what appears to be OMG our favorite viking vampire Sheriff of Area 5 (1:23). Also spotted in the teaser- vamp advocate and Bill Maher guest Nan Flanagan looking less than Today-show ready, Sookie laying her smack down on “vampire ho” Lorena, and Maryann pulling her bail yo’ ass out of jail schtick. Another disturbing snippet sees Eric writhing in pain whilst shackled to an altar in silver chains. Nooooo!

Amid the respective cries of “Beeeeel!” and “Suckeh!” it’s pretty difficult to work out any real spoilers, and we all know HBO is staffed with wizards when it comes to creating misleading and action filled trailers. It was honestly the most exciting 1:37 of my life.

Comic-Con also saw the unveiling of a new product tie-in for the show- a replica of Tru Blood that’s really a blood orange soda priced at $4 a bottle. And one last note for book fans- series creator Alan Ball put the kibosh on any hopes of seeing the undead man from Memphis on the small screen. Ball feels it would be impossible to suspend disbelief enough on TV to have beloved Bubba be a viable character on the show adaptation. Burn.

While topping episode 6 (Hard Hearted Hannah, as crooned by Guillame) will be pretty hard, episode 7 looks like it’s going to be pretty fierce, too.

Twilight tattoos are not news- Stephenie Meyer cited them in her critique of certain lines in the movie.

However, the sheer volume of horrible tattoos being inked in homage to this literary abortion and the Diet Coke of vampires is astounding. Edward Cullen, as a character, squicks Robert Pattinson out:

“When you read the book,” says Pattinson, looking appropriately pallid and interesting even without makeup, “it’s like, ‘Edward Cullen was so beautiful I creamed myself.’ I mean, every line is like that. He’s the most ridiculous person who’s so amazing at everything. I think a lot of actors tried to play that aspect. I just couldn’t do that. And the more I read the script, the more I hated this guy, so that’s how I played him, as a manic-depressive who hates himself. Plus, he’s a 108-year-old virgin so he’s obviously got some issues there.”

Although not as much as the author of Twilight herself does:

“When I read it … I was convinced that Stephenie was convinced that she was Bella, and … it was like it was a book that wasn’t supposed to be published, like reading her — her sort of sexual fantasy about some — especially when she says that it was based on a dream, and it’s like, “Oh, then I had a dream about this really sexy guy” and she just writes this book about it, and there’s some things about Edward that are just so specific that … I was just convinced that this woman is mad, she’s completely mad, and she’s in love with her own fictional creation. And I sometimes … feel uncomfortable reading this thing, and I think a lot of people feel the same way, that it’s kind of voyeuristic … It creates this sick pleasure in a lot of ways.”

And yet Twitards fangirls who haven’t yet seen True Blood are lining up to get huge, ugly ass tattoos all over their back acne. Via Geekologie, a collection compiled over at ONTD.

There are all kinds of people who would consider themselves to be die-hard fans of everything Star Trek, even though others might have different words used to describe them. They go to all the Star Trek conferences decked out in their best Star Trek clothes. They can probably recite every line from every show. They will get into heated battles over which was the best series and just how much of an idiot Shatner is and Picard is the best USS Enterprise captain bar none.

However they all pale in comparison to Tony Alleyne. Not happy with just wearing the best Star Trek costume around he also has turned his apartment in Hinckley, Leicestershire England into the coolest homage to Star Trek. As you can see from the photo above and the ones below he hasn’t missed a trick.
