Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane says sometimes he wishes his hit Fox cartoon series Family Guy would end it’s run.

Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter Seth revealed:

 ”Part of me thinks that Family Guy should have already ended. I think seven seasons is about the right lifespan for a TV series.”

When talking about the show nearing 200 episodes in it’s 10th season MacFarlane said:

“I talk to the fans and in a way I’m kind of secretly hoping for them to say, ‘We’re done with it.’”

“There are plenty of people who say the show is kind of over the hill … but still the vast majority go pale in the face when I mention the possibility.”

Fans of the show shouldn’t worry too much about a cancellation as Fox is winning big with the show which has a heavy male teen and young adults audience that earns the network $220,000 for each 30 second advertisement.

Even if the show was taken off the air MacFarlane’s brand of humor won’t disappear thanks to his never ending supply of cartoons including The Cleveland Show and American Dad. MacFarlane is also working on an updated Flintstones cartoon.

I personally would be bummed out to watch the show go off the air. Are you a fan of Family Guy? If you are do you believe that the show is over the hill or should Seth MacFarlane continue to give his best effort to develop more laugh out loud moments for Peter and the rest of the Griffin family and their quirky gang of friends?

Following a group of deadly twisters this past week in the southern parts of the United States that claimed more than 300 lives Fox TV has announced that their planned Twister Toons would be pulled from this Sunday’s schedule.

The network had planned on airing three of their Sunday Night cartoons using natural disasters as the background, however Fox will now wait until next season to air the episodes in an attempt to be conscience of their Southern viewers feelings.

Thankfully all 3 shows rarely depend on episode consistency to share a consisten story which means the natural disaster episodes should not appear out of place whenever they air.

Actress Andrea Fay Friedman, 39, voiced a Family Guy character recently in a bit that took a swipe at Sarah Palin.

In Sunday’s episode, Friedman did the voice for Chris Griffin’s date, a girl who has Down Syndrome and says that her mother is the “former governor of Alaska.” Palin predictably struck out at the show, calling the material “unfunny” and the show’s creators “cruel, cold-hearted people.” But Friedman, who herself has Down Syndrome, emailed the New York Times in response to Palin’s camp’s outrage:

I guess former Governor Palin does not have a sense of humor. I thought the line “I am the daughter of the former governor of Alaska” was very funny. I think the word is “sarcasm.”

In my family we think laughing is good. My parents raised me to have a sense of humor and to live a normal life.

According to Gawker, the Times didn’t publish more scathing remarks made by Friedman in the email, in which she allegedly also said:

My mother did not carry me around under her arm like a loaf of French bread the way former Governor Palin carries her son Trig around looking for sympathy and votes.

A clip is making the rounds today, an out-take of Family Guy: Seth & Alex’s Almost Live Comedy Show.

One constant criticism Family Guy runs up against is its heavy reliance on nonsequitor cracks (a whole episode of South Park called them out on that very thing) and the predilection for offensive jokes over clever jokes. This clip shows Alex Borstein (the voice of Lois) launching into a sendup for the third time of deaf actress Marlee Matlin. Borstein launches into a version of Lady Gaga’s Poker Face as Matlin, hammily feeling up the piano to confirm the player is still playing.

In the middle of the song, a comically enraged Matlin Kanye-Wests the proceedings and injects her own series of cracks about Borstein’s weight, gait, fondness for Oreos and apparent lack of movie roles. Seth McFarlane giggled like a schoolgirl in the background. And everyone in the audience felt a little bit better about laughing at a deaf woman’s speech impediment.

For her part, Marlee insists both on camera and off that she’d love to participate in the send ups using her actual own voice. For the onstage version, Borstein asserts, “I swear, Miss Matlin, we did, we called- but the phone just rang… and rang…”

Last week Seth MacFarlane the creative genius behind the hit show Family Guy and Microsoft announced a rather interesting partnership. In effect Family Guy Presents: Seth and Alex’s Almost Live Comedy Show would be sponsored by Microsoft in exchanged for Windows 7 product placement in the show.

Of course this created a roar of sell-out and flack galore for both Seth and Microsoft but it wasn’t that bad PR that caused Microsoft to pull out of the deal. Instead it turns out that Microsoft didn’t want to be associated with jokes about deaf people, the Holocaust, feminine hygiene and incest.

That apparently was a bit too much for Microsoft.

“We initially chose to participate in the Seth and Alex variety show based on the audience composition and creative humor of ‘Family Guy,’ but after reviewing an early version of the variety show it became clear that the content was not a fit with the Windows brand,” said a Microsoft spokesperson. “We continue to have a good partnership with Fox, Seth MacFarlane and Alex Borstein and are working with them in other areas.  We continue to believe in the value of brand integrations and partnerships between brands, media companies and talent.”

All the PR spin aside it is interesting to see that Microsoft is taking this stance. Of course because it is Microsoft you can be sure that they’ll get some bad press over pulling out their sponsorship deal with the show.

Corn Mazes tend to feature the same old labyrinth designs from one maze to another, but not in the case of the Connor Family Farm. The Connors created a 7 acre maze with two of the Fox Channel Family Guy cartoon characters carved into their field.

The family pet Brian and youngest son Stewie can be seen in the middle of the maze, with the “Family Guy” name carved into the top of the field.

The cast of Star Trek The Next Generation has reunited for an episode of the Family Guy.

In Not All Dogs Go to Heaven, the crew of the second Starship Enterprise: Patrick Stewart, Levar Burton, Gates McFadden, Michael Dorn, Wil Wheaton, Denise Crosby, Marina Sirtis, Brent Spiner and Jonathan Frakes provide guest voices as the Griffin family heads to the annual Quahog “Trek” convention reports THR.

“Stewie blows a fuse when he doesn’t get a chance to ask his favorite ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’ cast members any questions,” the show notes read. “He devises a plan, builds a transporter and beams the entire cast to his bedroom so they can spend a fun-filled day together in Quahog.”

The episode will air March 29.
