One (rather dubious) news site wrote

“Actor Jim Carrey is reported to have died shortly after a snowboard accident earlier today – March 3, 2011.

The actor & novice snowboarder was vacationing at the Zermatt ski resort in Zermatt, Switzerland with family and friends. Witnesses indicate that Jim Carrey lost control of his snowboard and struck a tree at a high rate of speed.

Jim Carrey was air lifted by ski patrol teams to a local hospital, however, it is believed that the actor died instantly from the impact of the crash. The actor was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and drugs and alcohol do not appear to have played any part in his death. “

We can say unequivocally though that the story is 100% fake. Jim Carrey has not died in a snowboarding accident.

It’s a sure sign of the northern summer when the fake celebrity death circuit gets into full swing, and today’s rumor claims Lil Boosie is dead.

There’s no origin for the Lil Booise dead rumor that we can find, except perhaps a case of confusion: Lil Booise may soon be dead as he’s facing the death penalty on a murder charge.

According to reports, Lil Booise was indicted on the murder charge by a Grand Jury June 17. He is accused of murdering Terry Boyd in his home in October 2009 “over turf.” If that’s not bad enough, he’s also been linked to at least five other murders, as well as conspiracy to sell codeine, ecstasy and marijuana in prison.

So all we can add is that Lil Boosie is not dead, Lil Boosie has not died. However, he may soon end up dead in an electric chair.

The fake celebrity death circuit has claimed its latest victim with rumors suggesting that James Avery (Uncle Phil from Fresh Prince of Bel Air) has died.

The rumor, which has swept Twitter in today, would appear to be a case of mistaken identity vs a serious attempt at fake celebrity killing; a Scottish football player know as Phil ‘Uncle Phil’ O’Donnell died in 2007, and for some reason that news seems to have been the basis of these rumors.

At last reports, James Avery is alive and kicking, and is set to voice a character in Transformers 3.

We can say with 100% certainty here that Uncle Phil is not dead, James Avery has NOT died. Nothing more to see here, move along.

There’s been a serious lull in the fake celebrity death circuit in 2010, but that doesn’t mean that they don’t still pop up from time to time and today’s rumor claims Bobby Brown has died.

The Bobby Brown dead rumors seem to have first surface in Twitter, and claim the singer has died from lung cancer at the age of 41.

There are unconfirmed reports that a rep for Brown (yeah, he still has one apparently) has denied that the former husband of Whitney Houston is not dead.

Besides, if he were to die, wouldn’t drugs have been the cause?

Atlanta rapper Waka Flocka Flame was shot Tuesday in a robbery, but is not dead despite the Waka Flocka Flame dead rumors doing the rounds.

According to reports, Waka Flocka Flame (real name Juaquin Malphurs) was in the wrong place at the wrong time when he was injured in a jewelry store robbery. Flame was shopping in the store when it was held up, and was shot after refusing to hand over the jewelry he was wearing.

He did however require assistance, and was taken to Atlanta Hospital for surgery. He is in a satisfactory condition, and is expected to make a full recovery.

Although this rumor had some basis in truth (that is, he was shot) we can confirm for the record that Waka Flocka Flame is not dead…Waka Flocka Flame did not die.

Three days, three fake celebrity deaths with the latest one sure to upset teenage girls: a rumor that the Jonas Brothers are dead.

The Jonas Brothers dead story takes us across to the Pacific, where according to a fake FoxNews report currently doing the rounds, the Brothers died in a plane crash on the morning of November 20, 2009.

The report claims that along with the Jonas Brothers, the pilot and the other members of the plane crew (12 people in total) died when the Cessna hit a mountainside several miles north of the New Zealand capital Wellington.

We haven’t had a New Zealand fake death since Jeff Goldblum was suppose to have fallen off a cliff there last year. 3.5/10 for originality.

For the record, the Jonas Brothers are not dead, the Jonas Brothers did not die, nothing more we can add here.

Going two for two on the fake celebrity death circuit this weekend comes a new name with an old story: Will Smith dead in a car accident.

Perhaps showing that fake celebrity deaths seriously need some more compelling story lines, the alleged report claims that Will Smith “was driving his Porsche in the Hollywood Hills earlier today when he suddenly lost control and flipped his car.”

The report goes on to say “Paramedics arrived on the scene within minutes but were unable to revive Mr. Smith.”

0/10 for originality on this one. For the record though, Will Smith is not dead, Will Smith has not died in a car accident, and there’s nothing more to be said on the matter.

Going for a second fake celebrity death this weekend, the latest rumor to grip the internet has rapper Lil Wayne being shot dead.

The rumor, as it was last November, says words to the effect that “Dwayne Carter known by his rap alias of ‘Lil Wayne’ is the latest victim of the notorious feud between the ‘Bloods’ And ‘Crips’. Shortly after performing at the New Orleans Arena, Lil Wayne was involved in an altercation with members of rival gang the ‘Crips’, and brutally shot 6 times with a semi automatic 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun.”

Unlike some other rumors lately, there is some truth behind Lil Wayne being shot: Wayne has a history with guns, and when was 12 he accidentally shot himself in the chest with a .44-caliber.

Lil Wayne was last spotted on stage when Drake collapsed on stage Friday. There were no reports of him having fresh bullet wounds.

The current wave of fake celebrity deaths continue, and tonight’s entry comes to us from Rick Astley

According to CNN’s iReport, Astley’s body was found at the Angleterre Hotel in Berlin after an ambulance responded to an emergency call from his hotel room. Astley was found unconscious in his hotel bedroom and was unable to be resuscitated. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Unlike previous fake celebrity deaths, the use of CNN’s iReport gives this a little more legitimacy up front, at least if you don’t know how iReport works. iReport is open to all submissions without pre-publication review: I could submit a story saying Rick Astley is dead at the hands of an advanced civilization of alien music lovers and it would be published until such time CNN pulled it it.

The rumors of celebrity deaths are flying thick and fast after Michael Jackson’s death today, and the latest alleged death in Harrison Ford.

Harrison Ford dead rumors started surfacing on Twitter at the same time Jeff Goldblum dead rumors surfaced, and there’s more than a coincidence there because both are currently shooting a movie together. A news report circulating on Twitter claims Ford died on board a yacht cruising off the coast of St. Tropez.

As far as we can tell, Harrison Ford is not dead and the report is a hoax. He was last seen on the set of Morning Glory two days ago, and is believed to still be in the greater New York area as production continues. Besides, the only death related to Harrison Ford in the last year is killing the Indiana Jones franchise.
