Taylor Swift took some time out at a recent gig to cover Eminem’s “Lose Yourself,” with a little help from the crowd.

Singer Skylar Grey, 25, recently did an interview in which she credits Dr. Dre and Eminem with her recent career upswing.

The singer had little success when performing under the name “Holly Brook,” but the change in moniker along with a slight makeover primed Grey for stardom when her big break with Dre and Eminem presented itself.

In a recent interview, Skylar Grey describes a rough spot before she worked on “I Need A Doctor” with Dr. Dre and Eminem:

“Things kind of fell apart with my career and personal life, so I just retreated up in the woods in Oregon just to get away from L.A. and the whole music industry… I felt like I lost touch with who I was as a person, as an artist.”

Grey says that Dre was considering a higher-profile female vocalist for the track, with big names like Lady Gaga being bandied about. But, Grey says, Eminem was pulling for her:

“Eminem was like, ‘We are not taking her vocals off the song!’ So I got kept on there and it changed my life.”

Grey will be dropping an album sometime this fall.

Audi America has responded to a lawsuits filed by rapper Eminem in which he claims the company used his “Lose Yourself” song for a commercial that aired in Germany.

According to the Audio spokesperson, the commercial is not a commercial, stating:

“The video referred to is not an advertisement,” and “Also, this does not involve Audi of America. The video was not shown here in the U.S.”

It seems odd that the company would say a commercial, which touts a product isn’t a commercial, perhaps I just don’t have a grasp on German law.

In the spot the car company shows off their 2012 Audi A6 Avant while a man in a suit drives the vehicle through a city while the Lose Yourself song plays.

Not only does it appear that Audi stole the song, the video mimics Em’s own 2011 Super Bowl commercial for Chrysler which has led to speculation that Chrysler could file a lawsuit of their own.

Speaking to Billboard an Eminem spokesperson said of the commercial:

“We believe Audi not only used ‘Lose Yourself’ to sell their product without permission, but their spot actually feels inspired by elements of Chrysler’s commercial campaign.”

There is definitely reason to compare those two commercials and yes I’m calling the Audi spot a commercial, because it is a commercial.

Bruno Mars sings the chorus and rappers Royce da 5’9″ and Eminem provides the rap flows on “Lighters” a new song from their Bad Meets Evil EP “Hell: The Sequel” which will be officially released on June 14.

As expected Bruno Mars covered the hook where he sings:

“This one’s for you and me living out our dreams, we’re all right where we should be.” and “With my arms out wide, I open my eyes and now all I want to see is a sky full of lighters.”

The beat is raw and at least one flow is decidedly in the style of Eminem. I’m addicted to Bruno Mars and Marshall Mathers III and this track solidifies my love for both.

According to rapper 50 cent, Ja Rule isn’t the only one that is squashing beef with him this year. Apparently 50 and Dr. Dre have put a recent squabble on the back burner in order to team up for a track on the eagerly awaited Dre album, Detox.

“I did a joint with dre for his album that’s crazy” 50 tweeted. “They were suppose to put it out this weekend but you never know with dre.”

Earlier this year artists Snoop dog and Eminem joined the Dre project to release singles to “Kush” and “I Need A Doctor”, both of which will be included in the albums release.

Despite these facts, the official release date of the album is still unknown at this time. Earlier reports indicated that ‘Detox‘ would drop on 4/20, the unofficial marijuana holiday, but that day has came and passed.

According to Snoop Dog, Dre’s environment is stifling the album’s production.

“It’s a formula,” Snoop said. “Like I was trying to explain to you earlier when we made records in the past it was an environment, an atmosphere. If there’s not that atmosphere you can’t create that kind of album. So that’s what’s happening right now. The songs don’t match the atmosphere and the atmosphere don’t match the songs.”

Should my Facebook feed be believed, a number of you all are pulling sickeys today, and a greater number are slogging through work on too much American beer and little sleep.

It seems Super Bowl ads increase in prominence each year, with water cooler and web buzz of the very expensive, often elaborately produced spots drawing a lot of attention and YouTube sharing in the wake of the big game. This year’s set was a bit less controversial then that of last year- to recap, there was a bit of a flap over a pro-life Tim Tebow ad, a gay dating site was excluded, and then the White Stripes (rest in peace!) got a bit snitty because the Air Force stole their “Fell In Love With A Girl” riff. It was pretty dramatic.

This year’s commercials had some apparently fantastic thing with Eminem, a mini Darth Vader 2011 Beetle commercial that caused a lot of people to coo, something to do with GoDaddy, a Groupon commercial many decried as tasteless (and possibly written by Kenneth Cole’s old Tweeter), and Roseanne Barr getting smacked in the head with a tree trunk.

I’ve been following much of the Super bowl nonsense via my two Twitter streams, not that you can avoid it, and I think much of the conversation is being split between the game and the ads that are being run during the commercial breaks.

Groupon is the early failure with what apparently are totally tasteless and insensitive ads but in the winner circle at this point is the ad from Chrysler starring Eminem and – Detroit.

I just finished watching the ad (via Jalopnik) and I gotta admit, it’s a pretty powerful ad.

Eminem, who came under fire in the early 00s for homophobic lyrics, is being helped off drugs by out and proud Sir Elton John, John told the BBC.

Elton didn’t disclose the details of Eminem’s addiction, but the rapper- who has a tattoo of Vicodin- revealed dependency on Valium, Vicodin and Ambien to Vibe magazine in an interview after his 2005 stint in rehab:

“It’s no secret I had a drug problem,” he later told Vibe magazine.

“If I was to give you a number of Vicodin I would actually take in a day? Anywhere between 10 to 20. Valium, Ambien, the numbers got so high I don’t even know what I was taking.”

The fake celebrity death circuit takes no breaks for public holidays, and this Christmas the hot rumor has Eminem dead in a car crash.

According to the rumor, “Eminem died this morning in a terrible car crash” The rumor claims that Eminem was using a cell phone that distracted him, causing him to swerve into the path of an oncoming truck.

The rumor goes on to claim that the rapper “died from bleeding to death” after being admitted to hospital. The rumor also quotes a doctor on the death, and claims that MTV is showing a special on his career tonight.

We’re only scoring the Eminem died rumor a 3/10; car crashes are very much a standard fake celebrity death rumor, although the quotes and cell phone aspects are somewhat original.

For the record, Eminem has not died, Eminem is not dead, end of story.

Reports are coming in that rapper, Eminem has died in a car crash.

Rumors about Eminem’s death are spreading like fire across the web, but as of the time this was written, we cannot confirm whether he has died or not. This could quite possibly be the death rumor of the day. Fake death rumors seem to be a common internet meme lately.

Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Bruce Mathers III, is rumored to have died in a car crash. If this is true, we will update you with more information in a new post. But right now, we’ll chalk it up to another random internet death rumor.

While he was taking part in the staged 69ing with Bruno at the MTV Music Awards Sunday night, Eminem’s hotel room was being burglarized.

Upon returning to his hotel after the Sunday’s MTV Music Awards, Eminem and his handlers discovered that his hotel room had been robbed. Several item were taken from the room totaling thousands of dollars, including an expensive diamond necklace worth a reported $60,000 and a personal laptop computer belonging to the star.

Details are sketchy on the robbery, but we’ll be keeping an eye on the gossip wires for anything fishy claiming to have been ripped from the rapper’s laptop.

Although it made for some wildassed comedy, it’s been confirmed by one of the writers behind the show that the Eminem/Bruno stunt on Sunday’s MTV awards was staged.

Scott Aukerman, the head writer for the show confirmed on his blog that the Eminem Bruno stunt was scripted. Scott says:

“Yes, the Eminem-Bruno incident was staged. They rehearsed it at dress [rehearsal] and yes, it went as far as it did on the live show”

Sacha Baron Cohen’s latest character Bruno had a gig presenting at the MTV Awards Sunday evening, and in true Cohen fashion, the appearance didn’t disappoint.

Flying through the air with angel wings, Bruno yelled to a taken down…. and ended up landing on Eminem’s. This is where it gets a little more adult in nature: Bruno landed upside down with his head in Eminem’s crotch, and his near naked ass in Eminem’s face.

Eminem, not exactly known for his tolerance towards gay people, didn’t take it well. “Are you serious?” Eminem screeched. “Get the f&%k off me!” Eminem’s bodyguards then yanked Bruno away, leaving the rapper to storm out of the venue.

The only question outstanding from the incident is whether it was real or staged? First thoughts are staged: it would be surprising of MTV to upset a star in this way. But looking at the video, you just can’t be sure. If Eminem was acting, it was a damn fine act.
