Rapper Machine Gun Kelly was arrested last night after performing in St. Petersburg, California. MTV’s 2011 Hottest Breakthrough MC winner was arrested at 4 in the morning. The rapper posted bail and was released shortly after his arrest.

Machine Gun Kelly wrote on Twitter:

“Just spent my entire night in a f–king Florida jail… sh– escalated way to quick last night, it always does with us though. Thanking God that only half of us went to jail, that @216XPLOSIVE is outta the hospital, and that we get to go back to Cleveland today…”

The Baltimore Sun reports that the Florida officials aren’t releasing details about MGK’s arrest but wrote “brawling” as the crime description. The rapper wasn’t too happy about being arrested but said that it was fun hanging out with all of his fans in jail. Machine Gun Kelly wrote:

“The weirdest part of it was how any inmates in there knew who I was and knew about the movement. It was some trippy sh–. Lace the F–K up,” he wrote before firing off his last tweet about the matter. “Anyways, thank you Florida for ragin this week. Lookin forward to seeing every state during this spring/summer tour (no more handcuffs tho!)”

Diddy, who owns MGK’s Bad Boy Records, was worried about his newest star. Diddy wrote on Twitter last night:

“@machinegunkelly where the f— are you at? Are you ok? Do you need Bail or a lawyer?????!! Eveyrone hit him to see if he’s ok!” he wrote. “@machinegunkelly WtF!!!!!! Call me at miami crib now!!!!! Everyone hit him and tell him to call me NOW!!!!! Pls thanks!!!!”

MTV reports that MGK was arrested last August in his hometown of Cleveland for disorderly conduct.

Los Angeles, California- Cause of death for influential rapper Heavy D has been announced, weeks after the star collapsed at his Los Angeles home and and died suddenly at Cedars-Sinai hospital.

The 44-year-old rap legend- real name Dwight Arrington Myers- died of a pulmonary embolism, or blood clot in the lung. The condition is often associated with long-haul flights, and Heavy D had just traveled back from London prior to his unexpected death. Scarily, Craig Harvey of the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office confirms that the clot ”most likely formed during an extended airplane ride,” ultimately precipitating Heavy D’s death.

Several other factors had previously been cited in the rapper’s demise, including the possibility of  pneumonia and the presence of certain medications used to treat a cough. But the coroner also confirms that the levels of cough syrup were “therapeutic,” and it was clear that the dosages did not contribute to Heavy D’s illness.

Sadly, it seems that a decision to return to the limelight set the stage for the unfortunate circumstances that led to the rapper’s “preventable” death. Heavy D was returning from his appearance at the memorial concert for Michael Jackson in Wales early in November, placing him on the flight and ultimately at risk for the fatal pulmonary embolism. In addition to his appearance at the star-studded event, 2011 also saw the rapper appear in the Eddie Murphy and Ben Stiller film Tower Heist as a security guard.

A more complete autopsy report on the death of Heavy D is expected in about two weeks.

“I’m committed to UCLA,” Combs said, according to Scout.com. “I was silently committed to UCLA for a while, but now was the time.”

Justin’s decision to play for the Bruins comes just one day after the team fired head coach Rick Neuheisel, following a 50-0 loss to rival USC.

Combs, a 5-foot-9, 170-pound cornerback at Iona Prep in New Rochelle, N.Y., says he is not concerned about the fact that UCLA does not have a head coach because his love for the school is “so strong.”

“I have faith in the program that everything will be OK,” said Combs explained. “I trust and know that everything will work out.”

When asked his feelings on Justin’s choice to head out west and play for the Bruins, Diddy told Access Hollywood:

“As a parent, today is one of the proudest moments of my life. This is everything a father could want for his son, for him to excel at what he loves to do and is truly passionate about. Justin is a shining example of what hard work, determination and a strong mentality can achieve. I am honored to call him my son and am happy that he is fulfilling his dream.”

As celebrity friends and fans react to the untimely passing of hip hop hitmaker Heavy D, reports emerge the rapper was trying to get healthier in the months leading up to his death.

The 6’4″ star weighed more than 300 lbs. when he died, but was working out hard at some Los Angeles area gyms to shed excess pounds. At one gym, Ultra Body Fitness, trainers who worked with Heavy D a impressive reported six to seven days a week have erected shrines to the recently deceased rap legend. TMZ reports:

One of his most recent trainers — a guy named Tony, who helped Heavy D lose 150 pounds in 2008 — tells TMZ, D stopped in to Ultra Body Fitness in West Hollywood 3 months before his death … and began to re-strategize his training program… At that point, sources close to Heavy D tell us, the rapper embarked on a daily running regimen and frequented several other nearby gyms to diversify his exercise experience — incorporating everything from hiking to boxing.

The death of the influential rapper- real name Dwight Arrington Myers- at the age of 44- came as a shock to celebrities and fans alike, who took to Twitter to eulogize Heavy D. Fellow 90′s star MC Hammer tweeted:

“We had a lot of great times touring together. He had a heart of gold. He was a part of what’s good about the world.”

Diddy has canceled tonights show in Phoenix after falling ill and burning up with a fever.

According to the hip hop moguls rep:

“Sean has a high fever and is under doctor’s orders to stay in bed.”

Diddy broke the news to his Phoenix fans on Twitter, tweeting:

“i guess i pushed it too far because i literally cant get outta bed.” He goes on to say:  ”im sorry phoenix-i regretfully have to cancel the show. im so sorry.”

Combs has always made it a point to push himself as hard as he possibly can, if he’s canceling a show it’s safe to say that he has a fairly high fever.

According to Page Six, a source claims that Diddy wants Ciroc to “be the official vodka of New Year’s Eve” and offered to donate the chunk of change to charity for the honor. Fine. It might be a supreme marketing ploy for Ciroc vodka– Times Square is already flanked with two giant billboards for the brand– but at least Diddy has promised to do good while he’s enjoying a major promotional moment.

Word has it that the Obama campaign has asked select high-profile supporters to avoid Obama’s rally held tonight in Chicago’s Grant Park.

According to The Sun-Times, Jay-Z, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Susan Sarandon, Ben Affleck, Tim Robbins, and Mary J. Blige were among the stars asked to avoid tonight’s event and instead come to Obama’s January inauguration, if it happens.

An insider supposedly revealed that “There really only needs to be one star in Grant Park, and that’s Barack. There will be plenty of time for a new President Obama to be surrounded by famous fans, all hopeful about a new administration.”

Oprah does get to come to the rally, and will probably get to spend time with the Obama family and their “inner circle” at the Hyatt Regency. No fair, right? Well, as the Sun-Times said, “No one says no to Oprah!” So true.

Diddy does not know the meaning of stop while you’re ahead. He now claims in his newest YouTube response to the “jet controversy” that he owns a “wing” of a plane registered under another name. How he has so much time puzzles me, as well as the fact that he still reads too much of his own press.

Remember when Diddy was crying about his jet being too expensive and having to fly commercial? It turns out that the jet was actually “his.” I love it:

“Federal aviation records don’t show Diddy as the registered owner of any private jet. A source said, ‘I have a list of every plane with the name of the owner, and he’s not on it.’ Did they check all 10,000 of his names?”

It turns out that he pays by the hour with a fractional ownership. It’s still better than a lot of us, but when you hold yourself to mega-star standards. . . you get judged, and judged hard. Touche, you big baby!

Forbes released its 2008 list of Hip-Hop’s biggest earners for 2008 and in at number one is Mr. Fiddy Cent himself with $150 million, followed by Sean “Jay-Z” Carter and Sean “Diddy” Combs. The trio was also the top 3 in the list last year with 50 Cent overtaking Jay-Z thanks to a lucrative deal with Coca-Cola, selling his stake in Vitamin Water. Kanye West (or is that Kanye “Kanye West” West?) may have beat 50 in the soundscan battle but he comes fourth on the list with $30 million.

As fun as this list is, I’m actually more interested in these rappers’ real names, like Timothy “Timbaland” Mosley and Aliaune “Akon” Thiam. Really, I had no idea. But no matter what, I’m still going to refer to Jonathon Smith affectionately as Lil John. Yeah!
