The former Mrs. Charlie Sheen- Denise Richards- says she openly talks about drugs and addiction with her daughters so they can try to understand their dad’s struggle with substance abuse.

On the Today show, Richards, 40, said that she initially tried to shield the girls from the negative publicity surrounding their dad and his drug issues. But kids at school spilled the beans, and Richards says she decided to create a teachable moment:

“As far as the media, I shield them completely, but there were a few things they would hear through other kids… but I did have a conversation with them about addiction and got a book to read to them because I was just lying to them so much and covering up and telling lies, and it was just getting too confusing.”

“They’re so young. I think they did comprehend some of it, and as they get older, they’ll learn more as needed.”

Richards also expressed hope that Sheen- who had a very public falling out with the creators of Two and a Half Men this year before going on his Violent Torpedo of Truth tour- would best his struggles. Despite her ex’s harsh words for her during the brouhaha, she called her ex-husband a “survivor,” and added that if “anyone can pull themselves together, it’s Charlie.”

Denise Richards, the 40 year-old actress and model, has adopted a baby girl and in doing so, has become a mother of three.

The new baby’s name, Eloise Joni Richards, was a combined family decision, according to People.

“Joni” was the name of Richards’ late mother and “Eloise” is a name that Denise’s other two daughters decided upon.

“Denise and Eloise’s big sisters couldn’t be happier and feel incredibly blessed,” a rep of the World is Not Enough star told US Weekly.

Richards’ two other daughters, Sam, 7, and Lola, 5, are from her previous marriage to Charlie Sheen which ended in 2006.

Shortly after news of the adoption broke, Richards took to twitter to thank her fans for their ongoing support.

“Thank you all for your sweet messages. The girls and I are over the moon and so is my dad Grandpa Irv…xo,” she Tweeted.

Once on Real Time With Bill Maher, Maher opined during his new rules segment of Denise Richards that “you cant marry Charlie Sheen, and then later get mad at him when you discover he’s Charlie Sheen.”

This was years ago, when the relationship between Richards and Sheen had become initially strained. Now Richards is writing a memoir about her time with the bad boy, and RadarOnline spoke to the 40-year-old ex-Mrs. Sheen. Richards describes the project:

“I get into the good stuff about my marriage, because people have only read the rotten stuff,” she said, describing the content of the book which is due for release on July 27.

“So, you know, there was a beautiful love story between he and I and then it went the way it went… But I talk more about how I felt during that time, because I think a lot of women can relate to that going through a divorce and custody and being a single parent, trying to work and all that stuff.”

Richards says she doesn’t intend to dish too much in the memoir, but hopes it will serve as inspiration to readers:

“Well it’s not a tell-all, but it’s hopefully something that’s inspiring.  I went through a whole lot and I get asked a lot of questions about that time in my life, so I figured I would write my story and hopefully anyone that has been, you know, dealing with challenges will know that there is light at the end of the tunnel.”

No word on when the book could be released.

You know your life is spiraling out of control when you can’t even win custody of your own two children from your ex-wife who recently checked into rehab for drug abuse, but that’s exactly what happened today when Brooke Mueller retained custody of 2-year-old-twins Max and Bob.

An L.A. judge continued to award legal and physical custody of the boys to Mueller after she checked herself into rehab on Monday, a move largely seen as a preemptive strike to prevent a custody battle loss to ex-husband Charlie Sheen.

RadarOnline.com reports that Mueller was in court looking wobbly and “glassy-eyes” and when asked if she was pleased with the courts decision she didn’t give an answer.

While Mueller is in rehab her mother Moira Fiore will be watching the twins.

Even with Denise Richards trying to help Sheen out in the case, apparently hanging out with Porn Stars and doing enough drugs to kill an elephant did Charlie in. Perhaps his new slogan should be changed from Winning to Losing…To Crackheads.

Charlie Sheen is being petty, the actor turned freak show took to the Radio City Music Hall stage on Friday night and trashed Denise Richards.

During his show Sheen called Richards a “dognapper” and then sent her an email at 10AM PDT on Saturday to demand that she return a pug the couple owned together.

In response to his message Denise is rumored to have responded by telling Charlie that he can call her whatever he wants, but that he isn’t getting the dog back.

According to TMZ, Richards believes the death of the pugs companion was caused by mistreatment at the hands of Sheen and she isn’t willing to allow the other dog to suffer the same inhumane treatment.

In other news, Denise denies rumors that she has threatened legal action if Charlie continues speaking about her in public.

39-year-old Charlie Sheen ex Denise Richards is reportedly dating Motley Crue bassist and recovering heroin addict Nikki Sixx, according to sources who know the pair and chose to not be identified.

Richards divorced Sheen back in 2006, amid allegations that the actor was addicted to drugs, sex and gambling. Reports that Richards is now dating 53-year-old Sixx indicate they are “taking it slow,” and cite a breakfast date in the Calabasas, California area in which Richards and Sixx are neighbors. The rumors seem to stem from a cryptic Twitter message from Sixx about a late night date followed by a sighting of the pair the following morning:

Sixx alluded to someone special on his Twitter.com blog on Friday night, revealing he had “a midnight rendezvous planned with a beautiful maiden”.

And Usmagazine.com reports the mysterious maiden is in fact Richards, after the pair was spotted getting cozy over breakfast at a Calabasas, California restaurant the following morning.

Richards has previously stated she is reluctant to introduce new beaux to her two daughters with Sheen:

“Dating is very challenging. I won’t introduce my kids to anyone I’m dating unless it’s very serious. And balancing everything – my daughters always come first. I will never get these years back with my girls!”

Richards was most recently linked with Richie Sambora, and Sixx dated celebrity tattoo artist Kat Von D.

Trainwreck actress and Charlie Sheen’s ex Denise Richards has sworn never to sing again in public after mentally scaring fans at a Chicago Cubs game last weekend.

According to reports, Richards thought singing would be “great fun” and didn’t expect the criticism. She attempts to defend herself by saying it was for a good cause, but we’re not sure how you could find anything good about the performance.

Staffers with hit ABC show Dancing with the Stars are use to dealing with celebrities, but that was before they met Denise Richards.

”Denise Richards has already become the No. 1 least-liked contestant in the show’s eight seasons….” a staffer told the Chicago Sun Times, reported PopCrunch.

Show employees described the Richards as an “insecure” and “demanding” canker sore who ”complains about everything. …”

”It’s really clear that she’s one insecure woman. … She’s demanding and thinks she’s smarter than the rest of us … it’s really irritating.”

The once gorgeous actress has been a serial train wreck since her messy divorce with Charlie Sheen a couple of years back.

A source told In Touch the usual baby-announcement stuff, along the lines of “They are so happy and excited. They are in love, and this news makes things even better.” (Wow, you really need to be a source to know all those insider details, don’t you?!)

If only this year hadn’t been so rumor-rife for Charlie, it would be easier to congratulate him with a straight face. At least he won’t be short of funds, no matter what happens.

Honestly, as if Denise Richards’ kids weren’t confused enough, now a “source” is saying that she’s got an entirely creepier agenda than just hating on her ex-husband. Page Six‘s report claimed that she’s milking her court time for all it’s worth:

“She thinks a court battle would be good for ratings so she wants all overnight visits with the girls ceased, and monitored visits with her nanny. She invited the media circus to the hearing and even wanted reporters in the judge’s chambers – which wasn’t allowed. It’s ridiculous.”

Apparently Denise had a video presented in court of Sheen behaving “strangely” with daughters Sam and Lola, implying that he might have been molesting them. The combination of Denise’s allegations + previously quoted source = absolutely frightening possibilities.

Sheen is (unsurprisingly) suing for defamation and trying to get full custody of the kids.

Denise Richards’ kids have been through enough, so I wish that she could leave them out of it for a while. I don’t know if her blabbing is for publicity or just because she can’t keep her mouth shut, but the poor things need a break. I don’t want to imagine them reading this later on down the road:

My kids are in therapy. It’s very sad that they need to be there, but they do for now. On the other hand, it’s good they have an outlet to deal with their feelings and someone who is just their advocate.

Just when we were thinking it couldn’t get any worse, I’m going to venture out and say that they are: Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen are intensifying their already vitriolic feud. Richards, as we know, has been talking up her new reality show for E!, and to add in a little drama, she’s also dishing about Charlie’s newest low-blow.

According to the NY Post, she sent a text to Charlie asking him about his plans for Family Day at her daughter Sam’s school and also letting him know that their daughter wasn’t feeling well. His response was the following:

“‘I hope you and your worthless retarded father get cancer and join your stupid mom. Rot in hell you [bleeping] whore,’” or at least that’s what Richards claims. Denise also elaborated by telling us that “My mom died of cancer. This is what I deal with on a weekly basis.”

I wouldn’t put it past Charlie. His track record sucks! But someone else is airing out their laundry a little too often, wouldn’t you say?

Talkshow The View has turned out to be a secret hotbed of cattiness– whoever called this show “light” is seriously mistaken. As we say again today– with the fury only reminiscent of last year’s political issues. At least it wasn’t host-on-host this time.

Denise Richards was the guest today on The View, where she managed to totally infuriate Whoopi Goldberg in short time. She may have been on to talk about “Denise Richards: It’s Complicated” and her post-Charlie life, but Whoopi touched on another sensitive subject: her children and the fact that they’re “exposed” on a reality TV show. Denise maintained that she’s a “work at home” mom and can make a living while still being with her children, but Whoopi had other ideas about her new venture:

But [your kids are] there. These are little kids. If you want to keep them private, to keep your life private, do you not think this is a little extreme to open it up? You’re going through this huge thing and I just wonder if the timing might not be great.

Hey, at least somebody said it. Denise’s mission of proving that she’s not a homewrecker is playing second fiddle now. Bet her publicist looooves that!
