According to a report by ESPN, the LA Galaxy star was apparently thrown off the field when he had a disagreement with a referee prior to his 9-year-old son Romeo’s soccer game.

Beckham talked about his red card incident during a recent interview with British talk show Jonathan Ross:

“I was watching the kids play the other day,” he said on Saturday’s broadcast, according to a report in British tabloid Daily Mail. “It was the game just before they were playing. It was the younger kids of Romeo’s club, and they’re playing in the game and there was a penalty given. And the kids are 7 years old, and [the referee] sent the kid off.

The decision apparently didn’t sit well with Beckham, as he explained that he confronted the ref – only to be given a red card of his own before being booted out of the park.

“I was like, ‘Come on, he’s 7 years old, referee, you can’t send him off.’ And he looked at me and was like, ‘Yes, I can.’ And I was like, ‘OK, well, you can’t, he’s 7 years old.  And he came over and gave me a red card. He told me to get out of the park. For real.”

According to MSN, Beckham was then forced to wait outside the field’s gate for 20 minutes until his son’s match started. Only then was he allowed back in the park as a spectator.

Speaking to Men’s Health magazine, Beckham said:

“I never wanted to be famous. I was never interested in anything else apart from becoming a footballer.”

Guess everything else just happened by accident eh David? Still, it’s undeniable that Beckham is one of the world’s great passers of the ball. In the same interview he reveals that he has changed his playing style to adapt to his age, 36.

“I know what my limits are, what I can achieve and which passes I can play. So that’s been my game over the last few years: I have adapted to my age, different situations and the position that I’m playing in. I still love playing; I still love being part of a team. Right now I’m not even thinking about retiring.”

In an interview with The Evening Standard, David Beckham also spoke of his love for Los Angeles, the reason why he chose to stay with LA Galaxy:

“LA has been great for us over the past five years and I don’t think we’d want to leave it full-time. It’s such a great place for the kids to grow up. To wake up with the sun shining every day, [to be] on the beach in the afternoon after school. You don’t get that many places in the world. The number-one factor in any decision Victoria and I make is what is good for the children, what is good for the family.”

According to the Chicago Tribune, Beckham refused the $12 million a year that PSG were willing to pay, preferring instead the comforts of Los Angeles and a meagre $6.5 million a year. When asked about his decision, Beckham stated:

“This was an important decision for me. I had many offers from clubs from around the world, however, I’m still passionate about playing in America and winning trophies with the Galaxy.”

What playing for LA Galaxy guarantees him is an opportunity to keep playing soccer. It’s difficult to imagine that at PSG, or a Premier League club, Beckham would’ve had the same opportunity. Bruce Arena coach was asked to comment on David Beckham’s decision and said:

“I am thrilled that David has chosen to rejoin the Galaxy, especially as he had numerous options where he could continue his career. I felt that he was one of the best players in all of MLS last season and we could not have achieved the success that we did without him. We look forward to trying to replicate that success this season with David once again in a Galaxy uniform.”

LA Galaxy should be delighted that David Beckham, one of the best crossers of the ball that there’s ever been, is back in business.

Soccer star David Beckham- who was the subject of a recent death hoax on the microblogging site Twitter- is, contrary to unfounded web rumors, very much alive.

In fact, the not-dead pro footballer is looking into buying recently deceased Hollywood legend Elizabeth Taylor’s jewelry for his wife Victoria. Beckham- who rumors had perishing in a fiery car crash on Interstate 80 in the couple’s adopted home state of California- is said to be planning to bid up to about $4.5 million on the jewels when they go up for auction at Christie’s in December. The auction planned for later this year will raise some funds for the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation.

The baubles are said to be a gift to wife Victoria after the birth of the couple’s fourth child and first girl, who arrived in July and was named Harper Seven. Surprisingly, Beckham said to US chat show host Ellen DeGeneres that the couple may not have wrapped up the whole new baby thing, and may even try for a fifth child. The expat told DeGeneres that he and his missus are fond of adding to their family, and that the two would be pleased if another baby came along:

“If we were lucky enough to have another one, it would be great. We always spoke about having a big family. We love children. We’re very blessed to have four healthy children so if one comes along that would be amazing.”

In addition to the nearly three-month-old Harper Seven, the Beckhams are parents to Brooklyn, 12, Romeo, 9 and Cruz, 6.

The couple, who have three sons- Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz- are demonstrably thrilled with the addition of a baby girl to their clan. In fact, Victoria Beckham- much like the unfamous people you may know on Facebook or Twitter, has taken to posting only pics of the baby since Harper’s mid-July birth. (Celebrities- they’re just like the rest of us!)

On Twitter, over the past month, Beckham has said:

Harper’s mom isn’t the only Beckham to become besotted with the child. Her dad has added to his massive collection of tattoos with a freshly-inked tribute to his new daughter as well. At a recent LA Galaxy game in Los Angeles, Beckham removed his shirt, inadvertently revealing a new tattoo of Harper’s name near his left collarbone.

Soccer fans in England can be a rowdy bunch, especially when their favorite football teams are winning, losing or in a tie, but hand it to some rowdy American’s to upstage even the craziest antics of European football.

Galaxy star David Beckham was caught off guard when he saw a fan with a chainsaw, noting:

“That’s one I’ve never seen before.”

The Galaxy (12-2-9) visited Jeld-Wen Field on Wednesday night to take on the Portland Timbers (6-10-4) and not only was the crowd acting rowdy, the team had a lumberjack who would cut off large slabs of wood when the Timbers scored a goal or won the game.

Beckham continued:

“This is what you want to play in front of,” adding, “You want to play in front of fans like this that are passionate about the sport, about the game and their own team — and, hopefully, it’ll give us an extra lift.”

According to ESPN:

The addition of these teams, especially in the Pacific Northwest, has brought a different flavor to America’s top soccer league, new traditions and demographics — and it’s not something new up here. The Timbers date to 1975, in the old North American Soccer League, and the current franchise was restored a decade ago, playing its trade before the Timbers Army in second-tier leagues before arriving in MLS with a distinct culture, built-in rivalries (none more heated than that with the Seattle Sounders) and the backing of a city that has little in the way of big-time pro sports.

Apparently the team is very successful with a waiting list of 2,000 people to attend games.

The Galaxy’s left back Todd Dunivant says of the Timbers fans:

“They’re always loud, always going crazy,” and  “They’re screaming at you when you get off the bus. You know you’re in a hostile place. … Those are the games you want to play in. That’s how the level’s going to be raised throughout the league. If you have fans seeing this, it forces everyone else to kind of step up their game a little bit.”

Chainsaws, rowdy fans, if you can’t make it to Europe for a Manchester United game the Timbers might be your best chance at experiencing the passion of soccer fans without leaving the country.

Last week David Beckham and wife Victoria Beckham named their newborn daughter Harper Seven Beckham and revealed her to the world and now the little girls name has caused a surge in sales of the novel To Kill A Mocking Bird.

The Beckhams announced that Harper was named after the books author Harper Lee, a favorite of Victoria Beckham and then Amazon saw a 123% jump in the number of books sold.

The video message said:

“A lot of thought goes into our children’s names and Harper was a name that we’ve loved for a long time for a couple of reasons,” while adding, “One reason is Harper’s an old English name which we loved and one of the other reasons was Victoria’s favorite book is To Kill A Mockingbird and the author was Harper Lee. It’s a very strong, passionate book. That’s where Harper came from.”

You may recall that back in 2005 Beckham told The Guardian:

“I haven’t read a book in my life…I don’t have the time. I prefer listening to music, although I do love fashion magazines.”

Someone should inform her that To Kill A Mocking Bird is a book.

David Beckham’s spokesman has announced that wife Victoria Beckham has given birth to a healthy baby girl, the fourth child for the power couple. The baby was born on Sunday morning at Cedars Sinai hospital in Los Angeles and came in at a healthy weight of 7lbs, 10oz.

According to rep Simon Oliveira, the couple are ”delighted to announce the birth of their daughter.”

David and Victoria wed in 1999 and have three children; Brooklyn, 11, Romeo, 8, and Cruz, 5.

The news was posted on Sunday via Twitter and the families other children proclaimed that they “are excited to welcome their baby sister to the family.”

Congrats to the happy couple.

It turns out rumors circulating yesterday that Victoria Beckham and footballer husband David were set to welcome their fourth child on the 4th of July did not pan out.

Fans of the couple on Twitter rapidly spread the rumor, even purporting to know the baby’s name and birth weight. The speculated 4th of July due date would also happen to fall on the couple’s twelfth wedding anniversary, but the couple’s flak told press that the baby won’t arrive until later this month:

The spokesman tells Britain’s Daily Mail, “The rumours are rubbish, Victoria has not had the baby but she will be giving birth soon.”

David’s publicist, Simon Oliveira, also addressed the rumours on Monday, writing in a post on Twitter, “Contrary to certain reports, David and Victoria Beckham’s baby is not due today and that was never the case.”

The child will be the Beckhams’ first daughter, and the couple has three sons: Romeo, Cruz and Brooklyn.

Former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham is reportedly scheduled to have her fourth baby with husband David Beckham today via Cesarean section.

The baby, a girl, will be born at a Los Angeles hospital, MTV UK reports. The child will be the Beckhams’ first daughter. David Beckham commented on the differences in preparing for their daughter:

“We’re really excited. You know, it’s a whole new different thing for us. To have so much pink in the house, lilac in the house, and dresses… All the clothes [are] ready, the room’s ready, so we’re all ready for it and all excited.”

Sources also say that Victoria Beckham plans to breastfeed her daughter, her first foray into the practice. Although she formula fed her boys, Beckham says having a girl has caused her to rethink the decision:

Soccer star David Beckham was involved in a freeway accident on Saturday when he crashed his black Cadillac on the 405 Freeway just outside Torrance, CA.

According to the police report Beckham was driving in his car with son Brooklyn when he rear ended a gold Mitsubishi that had broken down and was residing in the carpool lane.

The man in the Mitsubishi was wearing his seatbelt but had to be taken to the hospital while Beckham and Brooklyn are both said to be fine and did not require hospitalization.

You may recall that on February 9 it was Beckham who came to the aid of a British motorist who broke down on the side of the road, karma did not work out in his freeway driving favor this time around.

In 2007 call girl Irma Nici told In Touch Weekly that David Beckham had sex with her, a claim that Beckham denies. Realizing that the tabloid had run with the story Beckham quickly filed a lawsuit against In Touch. Fast forward 4 years later and the international soccer star is now being ordered to pay more than $200,000 to the tabloid.

While David still claims the story is a sham, US District Judge Manuel Real in February threw out his case, stating that Beckham’s legal team was not able to provide any proof of malice on behalf of In Touch.

The $200,000 payment is being used to cover In Touch’s legal fees for defending themselves.

While money is exchanging hands in the wrong direction, at least according to Beckham, he isn’t giving up the fight, having already filed papers in the United States District Court, Central District Of California.

According to a Beckham rep:

“David is appealing… and is confident justice will prevail.”

While the video is probably fake, considering he’s on the beach with the soccer balls and the garbage cans are barely a speck on the camera, it’s still cool to this that maybe, just maybe, it’s real.

The Beckham family will soon introduce a new baby girl to the world and David Beckham’s son Romeo wants to name her after teen heartthrob Justin Bieber.

The two youngest Beckham boys, Romeo, eight and Cruz, five, are both big fans of the Biebs and according to various reports their mom Victoria Beckham was struggling to find a name for the families newest member.

According to David, the boys have been trying for a while now to come up with names that play off their favorite singer. During a recent interview with talk show host Jimmy Kimmel he said:

“When we got told it was a boy, my middle son Romeo said, ‘How about Justin Bieber as a name? Justin Bieber Beckham?’ So now we know it’s a girl, he said, ‘Well, how about Justine Bieber Beckham?’”

David went on to add:

“The funny thing is, I was on the way to school drop off the other day and my youngest said, ‘Do you think we could have a play date with Justin Bieber?’ I think he’s a little bit busy.”

I have a feeling the Beckham boys are not going to get their way in this battle, at least for the girls sake I hope not.

NBC is planning on resurrecting Lipstick Jungle via what has been coined the “Friday Night Lights Treatment” through a deal with DirecTV. NBC has admitted that Lipstick Jungle‘s fan base has been impressive enough to make them consider what it will take to keep it up and running, much like last year’s Friday Night Lights sister network deal to save the show.

“We have some incredible channels in our portfolio and we have sister networks that love the show as well” NBC’s Ben Sherman said at a conference yesterday. “We are analyzing what we need to do to keep that show on the air.”

Is this a shrewd move by NBC, and would you follow the show to another location?

Beckham’s regular tattoo artist Louis Malloy (remember the incredibly boring guy from London Ink?) pulled off the tattoo with a Hebrew translation “My son, do not forget my teaching but keep my commands in your heart.” This accompanies another one reading “I am my beloved and my beloved is mine.”

Word has it that the Beckhams have had their fair share of dramz this year: supposedly the couple drummed up tension when they chose not to fly home for David’s dad’s 60th birthday– right after his heart attack. I guess they’re back at it since David added the new ink!

A source told the Daily Mail that “Victoria doesn’t think David should have any more tattoos and tried to stop him having another. She likes them but wants a bit of his skin to be left, but David went ahead with it anyway.”

Gavin Rossdale has been honored with the title of “Best Celebrity Dad”! I’m sure it was a close call between Gavin Rossdale and Kevin Federline, who was graced with the “Father of the Year” Award this week by Las Vegas nightclub Prive. Ha. Which obviously represents a respected opinion on what makes for good parenting skills, right?

This time the award comes from a tabloid (only marginally better), but one thing’s definitely true: the nominees were pretty solid guys who seemed to deserve the award at least. In Touch named Ryan Philippe the runner-up for the award, with the following trailing behind: Tom Cruise, David Beckham, Adam Sandler, Jack Black, Will Smith, and Ben Affleck.

One question: where’s Brad Pitt? He has to handle twice the workload, and he does it with grace, too.
