Amazon Prime, the $79 a year service that gives free 2 day shipping and $1.99 per item one day shipping, will be adding Viacom shows to it’s online video streaming service. They signed an agreement with Viacom to add shows from their multitude of channels such as Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, MTV, and TV Land to name a few.

For customers who have a Prime account, you also get free access to thousands of TV shows and movies which somewhat competes with Netflix. If you buy a good amount of stuff, Prime pays for itself over time and the online video streaming service is a nice added bonus.

Via Businessweek:

“This deal with Viacom brings Prime customers and Kindle Fire users thousands of comedies, kids’ shows, reality TV and much more from some of the best cable networks available,” said Brad Beale, director of video content acquisition for Amazon. “We are constantly working to improve the service by adding the shows that our customers enjoy the most.”

“The number of videos bought or rented and the number of customers on Amazon Instant Video, the company’s online streaming service, more than doubled in the fourth quarter from a year earlier, Amazon said last month.”

The e-commerce site has grown massively over the years and has a very large and loyal customer base. Great customer service is key, as they demonstrate, and giving more value to the consumer leads to more sales in the long run. Whether people will soon be watching Jersey Shore or not, well, let’s hope they stay away from that show.

After a grueling few weeks on the GOP campaign trail funnyman Stephen Colbert has thrown in the towel, announcing on Monday that he was dropping out to focus on being funny.

In his message to supporters, namely his Comedy Central views and perhaps a few disgruntled GOP members given the choices left to them he announced:

“My fellow Americans of South Carolina: While your turnout on Saturday was historic, unfortunately–and no one could have predicted this–Herman Cain did not win the South Carolina primary.”

He then added:

“So it is with a heavy heart and a spastic colon, that I am re-suspending Herman Cain’s suspended campaign.”

You might recall that Stephen Colbert had failed to get his name on the South Carolina ballot after missing the November filing and a write-in is not allowed under state election laws. After realizing he couldn’t receive votes Colbert urged his supporters to vote for Tea Party member Herman Cain instead.

Colbert went so far as to have his Super PAC, which he handed over to Jon Stewart for legal reasons, run an ad that called Mitt Romney a serial killer, here’s the ad:

In the end he left his supporters with the following message:

“So now that my exploration has come to an end, who knows what I’m going to do. Maybe I’ll be like Herman Cain and hit the road in a bus with my face on it,” Colbert said. “Maybe I’ll hit the road in a bunch of tiny cars, each with a different part of my face on it.”

It looks like Stephen Colbert won’t be the President of the United States of South Carolina or any other state after all…sad day

Patrice O’Neal, a popular stand-up comic and staple at Comedy Central Roasts, has passed away. O’Neal died on Monday night. He was 41.

O’Neal’s close friend and radio personality, Opie from The Opie and Anthony Show, tweeted this morning:

“Yes, it’s true that our pal Patrice O’Neal has passed away. The funniest and best thinker I’ve ever known PERIOD.”

According to TMZ, O’Neal suffered a stroke in October. After his stroke, comedian Jim Norton said on The Opie and Anthony Show:

 ”We don’t know how he is. We don’t know how he’s going to be. It’s too soon to tell. It takes a while, we just don’t know.”

O’Neal, who appeared on “The Office,” “Tough Crowd With Colin Quin,” “Arrested Development,” his own stand-up specials and several Comedy Central Roasts, had his last big appearance was at the Roast of Charlie Sheen in September.

South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone this week took their brand of parody and aimed it directly at the Penn State sex scandal using their team of misfit children as their targets.

In the show’s season 15 finale a social worker named Mr. Adams interviews Kenny and his siblings because their parents have replaced them with a love for Pabst Blue Ribbon.

Meeting with the children in a clown filled room Mr. Adams starts by telling the children:

“I’ve been looking over my file and see you kids have all been horribly physically and emotionally abused. Oh, whoops! That isn’t your case file. It’s the Penn State University Gazette. Ha! I’m joking. That’s just a joke. We like to have fun here. It is your case file. I was all just like, ‘It’s the Penn State Gazette,’ to be like a joke. We have fun.”

After correcting himself he then gives the children a choice:

“Now, listen, you’re going to be put into a foster home, so I need to know, would you like to go to Neverland Ranch, a Catholic church, or Penn State University?”

Mr. Adams even takes a stab at legendary Penn State men’s football coach Joe Paterno who was recently fired for not taking the proper actions against former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky:

“How about this one? Joe Paterno doesn’t walk into a police station. C’mon, that’s a good one!”

It’s time to throw all of those South Park cancellation rumors out the window as Comedy Central confirmed on Wednesday that the show will be sticking around for a long time to come.

According to the cable station the Trey Parker and Matt Stone created South Park has been renewed through the 2016 season. The 15th season of South Park completed it’s run on Wednesday with a controversial nod to the Penn State Sex Abuse Scandal that has been dominating much of the news lately.

In a joint statement the shows creators said:

“South Park is a blast and we can’t wait to make more.”

Comedy Central president Michele Ganeless added:

“The collective genius of Matt and Trey knows no bounds. Week after week and season after season they continue to surprise and delight South Park fans, and that includes all of us here at Comedy Central. We’re thrilled that the adventures of Stan, Kyle, Kenny and Cartman will continue through 2016.”

Are you still a fan of the show that debuted in 1997 and has brought with it years of attacks on everyone from Tom Cruise and the Church of Scientology to Kanye West and Tiger Woods?

It will be interesting to see what pop cultural events happen over the next five years and to witness how Matt Stone and Trey Parker managed to turn those events into Comedy Central gold time and time again.

Walsh, who normally plays a prim and proper doctor on ABC’s Private Practice, joined a gang of entertainers – William Shatner, Seth MacFarlane, Steve-O, and Jon Lovitz, just to name a few -  who lined up to skewer Sheen with off-color jokes, insults, and generally untrue stories, all done in good humor.

Despite admittedly having pre-performance jitters, Kate arguably delivered the best line of the night when she said to Sheen:

“I have to say Charlie, you are an incredible medical specimen. I guess that’s the benefits of waking up every morning at the crack of crack” – an obvious jab at Sheen’s drug-littered past.

The jokes got even more personal from there, as Walsh took a shot at Sheen for his trouble at home.

“You know what’s amazing, despite all those years of abusing your lungs, your kidneys, your liver, the only thing you’ve had removed is your kids,” said Walsh, who later revealed that she began her career doing improv comedy.

Following the roast, Kate, 43, told USA Today:

“[I]t was a good exercise in masochism to come up here…You never want to rest on your laurels. You want to keep doing things that terrify you.”

Although it’s animated (cartoons), some pretty big names got on board with the project to do voice overs for the video. A break down in negotiations between Viacom and Time Warner Cable will mean customers on Time Warner’s cable network, the second largest in the United States, will no longer be able to view Viacom channels from January 1.

Channels to go from Time Warner include (not everyone has all these to start with) Comedy Central, Logo, BET, Spike, TV Land, Nick at Nite, Nickelodeon, Noggin, The N, Nick Jr., TEENick, MTV, VH1, MTV2, CMT and Palladia.

Viacom claims it has been trying to negotiate a fair renewal of its cable channels for months, but claims Time Warner Cable has been unresponsive and unreasonable. Time Warner claims Viacom is asking for exorbitant increases in carriage fees which would have to be passed along to the customer, reports the Huffington Post.

Who ever is to blame, the net result is the same: if you’re on Time Warner Cable, no Viacom content for you from midnight, January 1, reportedly EST so 9pm December 31 on the West Coast. Around 12.3 million customers will be affected by the dispute.

Viacom though isn’t going out without a scene, running the following ad across its entire network to Time Warner customers.

Meebo isn’t getting paid for the service, CNET reports — at least, not directly. Its advertising-based model will no doubt see a serious jump in impressions for the night. Certainly the company is also hoping some users will impressed enough with the chat rooms to find future external uses for the service.

It’s not the first time Meebo has turned to partner power to build its business, either. Just a couple of weeks ago, Meebo announced deals to use its messaging service on a host of third-party sites, such as Flixster, Bleacher Report, and Nickelodeon/MTVN Kids.

Meebo claims 40 million customers and 5 billion messages a month over its messaging platform. The company is based in Silicon Valley and has been around since 2005.
