As Facebook keeps updating our profile layouts, people trying to riff on it cleverly have to get ever more creative- here’s one girl’s “Portal” themed effort.

Although it sounds like a plot point from a slapstick comedy, the BBC is reporting on it, so it’s fairly safe to assume that police in Swansea, Wales employed a bouncy castle in an attempt to prevent the suicide of a man threatening to leap from a parking garage.

Local Acting Superintendent Keith Jones told press the bouncy castle was not the only tool in the police’s arsenal to stop the man from plummeting to his potential death. Jones explains:

“The use of the inflatable device was an impromptu idea which came from a local officer, which would have helped to reduce the likelihood of a serious injury should this gentleman have fallen.

“We believe that this is the first time that this method has been used in Swansea and was one of many tactics that were considered in order to resolve the situation.”

The 64-year-old man, however, was talked down from the car park and has been hospitalized. It was not speculated upon whether a standard bounce castle could cushion a fall from several stories, nor was it disclosed whether the man, who was not identified, was asked to remove his shoes first.

If you’re reading this, you’ve probably been rickrolled at least once.

Most people have seen variations on the prank, some have even seen the original duckroll before rickrolling began. But one of the more ambitious rickrolls of all time has been carried out by some MIT students who are known for their stunning pranks- last year, in honor of lives lost on September 11th, they perched a firetruck atop MIT’s Great Dome.

This year’s prank, the large scale rickroll seen above, was more lighthearted in nature. Under the cover of darkness, anonymous students placed the first seven notes of the notorious 1988 Rick Astley hit on the temporary scaffolding, which resembles blank sheet music.

This isn’t the first larger than life rickroll. Mets fans were partially shocked and partially amused when an online poll voted Never Gonna Give You Up as their theme song, and MTV Europe named Astley “best act ever” after voting there was hijacked by pranksters, too. And hilariously, Astley himself live-rickrolled the 2008 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade.
