Check out this classic Christmas scene. The family is happily unwrapping Christmas presents, but keep an eye on the toddler standing near Dad. He unwraps a DVD, looks at it and the casually belts at his father, with a surprised Dad copping a DVD blow to the head.

The one fun thing about the Christmas season is the humour stories that keep popping up in the news. Even stories that before the happy season would have people calling for the police or other such purveyors of the public right now just bring us a chuckle and big smiles.

Such is the case of the dog who meandered into a Murray grocery store, sniffed hello to one of the cashiers and then proceeded down the aisle to where the doggy treats were kept. Being that they were at just the right height the dog grabbed himself a juicy $2.79 rawhide bone and then after a brief encounter with the store manger made his way out the store doors.

The dog hasn’t been seen since.

Audrina Patridge’s Closet Ransacked!

Audrina Patridge’s closet got turned upside down and half emptied– but don’t worry, it was all for charity. The Hills‘ gal blogged yesterday that she was thinking of others in need, and “clothes, shoes, hats, scarves” were all donated to charity in a huge closet clean-out. Audrina’s post (which was devoid of friend bashing) detailed the pillage:

“So here is a picture of one of my closets ~ I know it looks like a complete train wreck but I tore it apart for a good cause haha. I actually went through all of my closets [...] and gave all of it to charity. I really hope that they make someone’s christmas =)!”

Ceiling eyes aren’t so bad when they’re paired with an awesomely big heart. Go Audrina!

Mother Nature Christmas Holiday Rap

If you’re living in the Northern Hemisphere and been getting some snow lately, you’d understand the issues that can cause. Me, I’m posting this while wearing shorts and a t-shirt and it’s around 28 c (83F) outside…perfect Christmas weather, not to hot, but not too cold. But I digress.

Apparently lots of snow can be a complete bitch (I wouldn’t know) and this Canadian duo articulates it very well.

Guitar Hero World Tour Cheats

If you were lucky enough to be given Guitar Hero World Tour as a gift this Christmas, or have access to someone who was (in my case Santa purchased it for my son) you’ll be wanting to know the Guitar Hero Qorld tour cheats.

I’ve tested some of these on the Wii successfully, but not had a chance to test all of them. They appear to be the same for the Wii, PS3 and XBox 360, but I can’t vouch personally for the other platforms.

Beer Bottle Christmas Tree

It’s too late now to start building Christmas Trees for this year, but now is the right time to start making plans for next year.

We love recycling these days, and now you can combine being green with Christmas by building a beer bottle Christmas Tree.

The bad news is that you’ll need 1,050 empty beer bottles for the project. That’s roughly 3 bottles of beer a day, so you better start drinking now.

This is the type of story you love to hear at Christmas

Two months ago a private equity firm that had bought up a cookie plant in Ashland had pretty well stripped the cupboard bare and locked the doors to the plant. In doing so they put some 300 hundred workers out of their jobs just before the Christmas holidays. Workers who had been promised that there would be plenty of work for all of them now had to tell their families that this Christmas wasn’t going to be like in the past.

This week thought saw the plant being purchased at auction by Lance Inc. who immediately called back 50 to 70 workers to work at the plant. Not only were they called back but they also will maintain their seniority and pay from before the plant was closed. Lance has also promised to hire back all the remaining workers as soon as they can.

As good as this might be as a heart warming Christmas story what Lance did next makes it even more so. On Tuesday Lance officials handed out $1,500 VISA gift cards to all the employees both as a way to show the employees that the company means what it says and to help their families have Christmas they might not have had.

Snow Globes that start fires: Hallmark Gifts that give

Snow globes sold in Hallmark stores have been recalled after it was discovered they start fires.

While the snow globes themselves did not catch fire, the globes acted as magnifying glasses, intensifying sunlight causing nearby objects to catch fire.

So far there have been two reports of fires directly attributed to the globes, and possibly more given the cause and effect in this situation may have not been immediately obvious.

Around 7,000 snowman snow globes were sold prior to the recall. Owners of the fire starting snow globes can return them to Hallmark stores for a full refund.

Big in Japan: Panda Dogs

Ever wanted to own a Panda Bear, but was worried about being attacked while you are sleeping? Introducing the Panda Dog, a dog that looks like a Panda Bear.

The Panda Dog hails from Asia and is available in Japan and China and is believed to be a Maltese Poodle mix bread specially for its panda looks, although some suggest funnily that it has Panda DNA.

I’m not sure if these are available yet in the United States or elsewhere, but if they do become available you can see these being a Christmas gift for many years to come.

One of the more bizarre allegations from Republicans during this years Presidential Election campaign was that a hand bump between President Elect Obama and wife Michelle was a “terrorist fist jab.”

I guess the terrorists did win then if President Bush and Santa are partaking in the same actions
