I get that we need to study and experiment with things in our world but at what point does experimentation cross the line into WTF!

Well I think that line could be this one that has researchers trying to turn back the hands of time with chickens. Scientists have recently found that because chickens and alligators share a common ancestor from way back in some Cretaceous period of time that by using a special protein they can suppress certain genetic signalling processes that control the chicken’s anatomical development.

 Harvard researcher Arhat Abzhanov has been able to alter the development of chicken embryos so that instead of beaks, they grow snouts like alligators. Essentially, this is rewinding evolution, causing the chicken to genetically regress back to when all chickens were actually dinosaurs. With enough tweaking, Abzhanov hopes to eventually hatch one of these out of a modified chicken egg:

Okay KFC has nothing to do with the story but you can be sure that they, like anyone who mass produced chicken parts will definitely be in the market for this champion chicken deboning robot from Mayekawa Manufacturing in Japan.

Not only can this sucker debone a chicken in mere seconds but it can rip through 1,500 chicken breasts in an hour and the manufacturer claims that it can do the same work as 10 full-time workers.

All this for a measly $560,000.

I have often wondered as a blogger what would happen if my browser and search history was ever examined by law enforcement. Think about it – bloggers are always searching for stuff that ranges from strange to illegal. We are always checking out all kinds of sites as we research for posts. Given how much the police and courts are using things like Google searches as part of investigations and trials bloggers could have a hard time explaining some of their stuff found on their computers.

However using Google to find out information about granny sex or naked chickens isn’t something one would think of doing. It would seem though that people are and to the point that granny sex is more popular as a search term than naked chickens.

I also don’t even want to know what it is that prompted this person to even compare the two.

Initiations are a pretty common thing in all kinds of organizations. Everything from high school football teams to university frat houses. The idea being that in order to belong to some pseudo elite club you need to take part in some stupid hazing routine or take part in a supposedly age old ritual. In other cases it’s just a matter of being wiling to show just how stupid you are and with the proliferation of online video much of these stupid stunts eventually find their way onto the web.

Such is the case of a training exercise held by a senior officer in Iraq that saw him and another soldier bite the heads off of life chickens. While I am sure this makes for great stories told around the pubs later on I don’t think that is does much for the publics general opinion of their members of the arm forces. the following video is of one such incident caught on film and consider yourself warned that this isn’t for the weak stomached of you.

At least this is what Abbi Vincent-Lloyd is claiming as a result of losing 30 hens on the days that the hot-air balloons overflew her property. She says that stress of seeing the enormous balloons overhead sends them running for cover during which they bump headlong into other chickens doing the same thing and this causes the eggs inside them to explode.

This in turn causes an infection, which is what is thought to have killed scores of them. As she told The Daily Mail

Miss Vincent-Lloyd, 32, said post mortems of the animals revealed they had died from peritonitis, developed from the egg being released inside them.

She said: “I had lost about 15 birds when I decided to have the vet do a post mortem on two of them.

“I told the vet about the hot-air balloons and jets flying low over the farm and straight away he said that was the cause.

“As soon as the gas is released to raise the balloon they go absolutely crazy.

“It is absolute chaos, when they go into anything and that causes the egg to explode inside them.

“The fragments of the egg and its contents then infect them and then they die from it – it’s a horrible way to go.”
