Charlie Sheen has been given a second chance at TV stardom by FX president John Landgraf. His show Anger Management was picked up without a script being shown and now Landgraf has defended his decision during a talk with reports at the Television Critics Association tour in Pasadena.

“I walked into the pitch as skeptical as you might imagine I would be,” and “It was just a really excellent pitch. I think some of you saw Charlie last weekend and I think you saw a very different Charlie Sheen. And I saw that guy in the room. I saw a really good pitch for a comedy series. Funny and complicated and I think the character he ought to be playing at this point — somebody with a checkered past but pretty self aware.”

Now only did the network agree to 10 episodes of the Adam Sandler movie spinoff, they have agreed to purchase 90 more episodes should the show reach an undisclosed ratings threshold.

Landgraf goes on to note that not everyone feels Charlie Sheen should be given a second chance including a reporter who bashed his domestic violence past and other issues:

“[The reporter] feels Charlie shouldn’t have a place in popular culture, that with his crimes, he should be banished to Siberia,” Landgraf said. “Charlie wants to get his house in order and deal with the issues of substance abuse and relationships within his own family, and have greater consciousness, and do a show where he has more complicatedly positive relationships with women … my opinion is that could be a good thing, not just for Charlie, but for society. I believe in redemption … I’m all for giving him the opportunity for turning things around.”

Charlie proved he could hold his own on Spin City and then proved once again his comedic chops for sitcoms with Two and a Half Men. If Charlie can continue to play real to form Anger Management could be an immediately hit.

Charlie Sheen is feeling on top of the world as he produces and stars in his new TV series Anger Management (due out later this year) and to prove it he told reporters on Sunday night “I’m not crazy anymore.”

According to Sheen who was speaking at Fox’s Television Critics Association party, ‘that was an episode.”

Charlie also revealed that he isn’t looking for more “goddesses” and has begun spending more time with his family.

Speaking to  CNN Charlie Sheen added, ”I think I’m a different person than I was yesterday. Everything is a lot more mellow and focused and much more rooted in reality.”

The former Two and a Half Men star even talked a bit about the show, specifically how they ousted him:

“It was a little bizarre to watch your own funeral. It was a little mean-spirited. But it’s dead and buried now, right?”

However that CBS hit appears to be in Charlie’s rear view mirror as he quickly changed the subject towards Anger Management in which he will take over Jack Nicholson’s character from the Adam Sandler starring vehicle.

“It’s nice to be in a situation where the people I’m working with are excited about my input. That wasn’t the case for a long time.”

The very public falling-out between star Charlie Sheen and producer Chuck Lorre was an integral part of the huge Sheen-related drama that culminated in his departure from the CBS hit Two and a Half Men.

The back-and-forth fighting between the two was legendary, but Lorre has spoken out about his role in the fracas and his concern for the well-being of the downwardly-spiraling actor. Lorre- who was often at the receiving end of Sheen’s vitrolic and anti-Semitic remarks on Twitter and in interviews- says an abundance of concern for Sheen is what kicked off the whole mess, and that he didn’t believe the actor would survive if he kept going the way he was going.

Lorre did an interview with TV Guide, telling the publication that he even offered to leave the show himself due to Sheen’s acrimony, and that money was only part of the reason behind the epic fallout:

“[The studio and network] chose to make a moral decision as opposed to a financial one,” Lorre says. “But people were really frightened that they were signing off on what could have had devastating consequences. This was not a game. This was drug addiction writ large. This was big-time cocaine and in his own words, an ‘epic drug run’ that could have ended with either his death or someone else’s.”

Lorre says he told the network that he’d leave to sort out the mess, if necessary, recalling that he said:

“Listen, if for some reason I’m now the Antichrist I’m happy to leave. It’s not in my interest to stop the show, and I certainly don’t want to put all these people out of work. Keep going. Get another guy. Don’t stop on my account.”

Lorre referred to the time period as a “painful year.”

Charlie Sheen has accidentally tweeted his personal phone number to the 5 million people who follow him on Twitter.

The tweet popped up on Sheen’s account on Thursday morning, with the actor’s number followed by a “Call me bro” message. One assumes Sheen meant to send the message to a friend, but instead made his tweet public. It’s a mistake we’ve all made when drunk at breakfast. The post was swiftly deleted, but I’m guessing Sheen has a new number by now.

The NY Post points out the mistweet was “ironic,” as Sheen’s former Two and a Half Men co-star Jon Cryer has previously admitted he didn’t have Sheen’s phone number (yeah, but it’s not actually ironic, is it NY Post? More a coincidence). Following his dismissal from the sitcom in March, Sheen labeled Cryer “a turncoat, a traitor, a troll.”

After Sheen’s outburst, Cryer told TV Guide, “I don’t even have [Sheen's] number.” Well he does now … if he was tweet-stalking Sheen at about 11am EST on Thursday. I mean, I assume that’s what Jon Cryer does with his Thursday mornings.

Sheen himself has been keeping a low profile in recent months, only popping up yesterday to bail out ex-wife Brooke Mueller with a $11,000 bond. Mueller was reportedly picked up for alleged third degree assault and possession of cocaine.

Charlie Sheen on Thursday rushed to the defense of ex-wife Brooke Mueller, claiming that she would never deal drugs as officers in her Aspen, Colorado arrest have reported.

The former Two and a Half Men star says Mueller would never sell drugs because he’s making sure she’s well taken care of. As Charlie told TMZ:

‘With the child support I give her… she’s gonna deal drugs? Never gonna happen.’

Sheen didn’t end his commentary of events there, saying of the Aspen police:

“The cops in Aspen are Keystone on their finest day … these are the clowns that let [Ted] Bundy go.’

“The woman identified Brooke Mueller as the aggressor.”

It should be noted that the “intent to distribute” charge is based off the amount of a certain drug being held by a single person, an amount police say Brooke Mueller had surpassed.

Out of a job in this economy?

If you’re part of the nearly 10% of American workers looking for employment, this is probably really going to burn your biscuits. Charlie Sheen- who has spent the better part of the past year partying with porn stars, trash talking his bosses, flouting his copious drug use and exhibiting signs of issues with grandiosity, livestreaming the ensuing mayhem to the internet at large- has a new job already.

Yes, while you sit there polishing up your resume and logging into Monster for the umpteenth time today, the man whose Comedy Central Roast was theme-songed with “Crazy Train” is re-entering the world of gainful employment with nary a mention of his previous transgressions. Sheen has been offered a job with the breakout network FX, home to hits like Louie (with hilarious stand-up comic Louis C.K.), It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and the new buzz-heavy horror show American Horror Story.

The new show will be titled Anger Management, and based off the Jack Nicholson film of the same name. Sheen may seem like a good fit for the role of a man prone to fits of inappropriate behavior, given his assertions that he has “tiger blood” and “Adonis DNA” and that he is a rockstar from another planet unable to succumb to the deleterious effects of heavy drug use.

FX has seen some success with syndication of Sheen’s former gig Two and a Half Men, and president of FX John Landgraf says:

“We think that Bruce Helford, Joe Roth and Charlie Sheen have come up with a wonderful, hilarious vehicle for Charlie’s acting talents, and a character we are very much looking forward to seeing him play. FX has their newest series the Charlie Sheen vehicle Anger Management. Sheen announced almost immediately following his firing from Two and a Half Men that he was preparing a show based off the popular Adam Sandler movie.

The new show will begin airing in 2012 on FX and Sheen will take on the role of an Anger Management counselor, the role originally played by Jack Nicholson.

Production for the new show will be helmed by The Drew Carey Show and George Lopez producer Bruce Helford.

Speaking about the new show John Landgraf, President and General Manager of FX Networks told Access Hollywood:

“We think that Bruce Helford, Joe Roth and Charlie Sheen have come up with a wonderful, hilarious vehicle for Charlie’s acting talents — and a character we are very much looking forward to seeing him play,” and “‘Two and a Half Men’ has been an outstanding component of FX’s schedule for the past 14 months, and we have every confidence that Anger Management will soon be as well.”

FX has agreed to air 10 episodes of the comedy and if it takes off Sheen is expected to seek out a syndication deal that would air at least 90 more episodes of Anger Management on the network.

At the Emmy Awards this year, Charlie Sheen did his best to put the past behind him as he wished Jon Cryer, Ashton Kutcher, and Angus T. Jones luck on the new season of “Two and a Half Men.” But after watching a few episodes of the new show, Sheen said that he was “very disappointed” in the direction that the show was heading.

Sheen said at the Emmy’s:

“From the bottom of my heart, I wish you nothing but the best for this upcoming season. We spent eight wonderful years together, and I know you will continue to make great television.”

“Two and a Half Men” saw record numbers during the first episode with Ashton Kutcher, but since then the audience has continually dwindled.

Sheen said:

 ”People aren’t stupid, you know? Not all of them… (Ashton Kutcher) is doing the best he can. I don’t think the role is cursed, but I’m extremely disappointed with how they’re handling what I left behind.”

The Wrap reports that Sheen, who is currently filming a remake of Adam Sandler and Jack Nicholson’s “Anger Management,” was recently awarded $25 million from his lawsuit against “Two and a Half Men” producer Chuck Lorre and Warner Brothers.

But despite the bad blood, Sheen still enjoys some programs on CBS.

Sheen tweeted on Friday:

“Anyone catch the premier [sic] of “Rules of Engagement” last night? Glad it’s back! Hat’s off to buddy Tom Hertz, cast and crew. Great show CBS!!”

Who likes Charlie Sheen more than Charlie Sheen? Nobody that’s who and that’s why it makes perfect sense that Sheen would dress as himself for Halloween.

In all fairness to the former Two and a Half Men star his face is making for the most sought after Halloween mask for the treat-or-treat season which means if everyone else is doing it why shouldn’t he.

He then linked to the photo shown above.

I spotted the Charlie Sheen mask at Spirit Halloween a few weeks ago and it appeared to be winning as there were very few left on the shelf weeks before Halloween was even close to arriving.

CBS worked some TV magic when its lead actor left “Two and a Half Men.” They killed a character and introduced Ashton Kutcher in order to keep the popular show on the network. But how will they continue now that their lead child actor, Angus T. Jones, is no longer a child? Angus T. Jones turned 18 today and is officially no longer half a man.

Well, chances are that CBS won’t be changing anything about the most watched show on television.

The OC Register reports that “Two and a Half Men” was the most-watched program for the second consecutive week. The show dropped 8 million viewers from the hyped debut of Ashton Kutcher, but still managed to pull in 20.53 million viewers last week. A lot of that has to do with Angus T. Jones and fellow co-star Jon Cryer.

Angus is the highest paid child actor working in television, earning $300,000 per episode, but on his 18th birthday he’ll have to compare himself to a different group of actors. Jones’ $300,000 per episode will make him more than $7 million over the next two seasons, but he’s still earning less than his adult co-stars. Ashton Kutcher earns $700,000 per episode and Jon Cryer earns $600,000.

According to TV Guide, Jones is happy to be working on “Two and a Half Men” for the next two years, but if the series had ended with the departure of Sheen, he wouldn’t have minded. Jones said that he is looking forward to going back to school when the show wraps up.

As for Sheen, Jones said that there are no hard feelings between the two. Jones said:

 ”I talk to him every now and then. I still want to hang out with him and stuff. We’re still friends. There’s no hard feelings at all.”

Now that Angus T. Jones is 18, is it time for him to move out of the house?

After a legal battle spanning several months between Charlie Sheen and Warner Bros. Television, Two and a Half Men co-creator Chuck Lorre included, Sheen has reportedly settled the case through arbitration.

Back in March, Sheen filed a $100-million lawsuit against the studio and Two and a Half Men‘s creators after he was fired from the popular CBS sitcom due to a series of negative comments he made to the media about the studio and Two and a Half Men co-creator Chuck Lorre.

“Warner Bros. Television, Chuck Lorre and Charlie Sheen have resolved their dispute to the parties’ mutual satisfaction. The pending lawsuit and arbitration will be dismissed as to all parties. The parties have agreed to maintain confidentiality over the terms of the settlement,” Warner Bros said in a statement.

Neither party have come out and put a number on the settlement, but a report from LA Times last week suggested that Sheen would be receiving $25 million out of the settlement.

Sheen is reportedly working on a new television series based on the Adam Sandler movie Anger Management. According to a report by E!, Sheen will be taking on the role of Jack Nicholson’s character from the movie.

Two and a Half Men made its season debut last week, sans Sheen, to a record 28.7 million viewers.

Walsh, who normally plays a prim and proper doctor on ABC’s Private Practice, joined a gang of entertainers – William Shatner, Seth MacFarlane, Steve-O, and Jon Lovitz, just to name a few -  who lined up to skewer Sheen with off-color jokes, insults, and generally untrue stories, all done in good humor.

Despite admittedly having pre-performance jitters, Kate arguably delivered the best line of the night when she said to Sheen:

“I have to say Charlie, you are an incredible medical specimen. I guess that’s the benefits of waking up every morning at the crack of crack” – an obvious jab at Sheen’s drug-littered past.

The jokes got even more personal from there, as Walsh took a shot at Sheen for his trouble at home.

“You know what’s amazing, despite all those years of abusing your lungs, your kidneys, your liver, the only thing you’ve had removed is your kids,” said Walsh, who later revealed that she began her career doing improv comedy.

Following the roast, Kate, 43, told USA Today:

“[I]t was a good exercise in masochism to come up here…You never want to rest on your laurels. You want to keep doing things that terrify you.”

Steve-O was one of the roasters at the “Charlie Sheen Roast” on Comedy Central, but Steve-O isn’t exactly the best joke teller. What Steve-O is good at, however, is getting hurt. At the end of the roast, the former Jackass star decided it would be an honor to receive a punch from Mike Tyson. When Iron Mike wouldn’t oblige, Steve-O took matters into his own hands.

With a running start, Steve-O launches himself face first into Mike Tyson’s first. Here’s the video.

On Steve-O’s blog, he explains that he had promised Charlie Sheen that he was going to try to get a black eye from Mike Tyson during the roast.

Steve-O writes:

“I should explain how this happened. I told Charlie Sheen that I was so grateful to be a part of his roast that I was going to attempt to get a black eye from Mike Tyson. I dove face-first into Mike Tyson’s fist… What a great deal, I get to say that I got two black eyes and a broken nose from Mike Tyson, and I’m going to come out of it looking better than I did before it happened. Yeah dude!”

So Steve-O succeeded… I guess.

One of the iffier moments for a TV show is in replacing a lead or a core cast member- television history is peppered with notable failures of a spouse or mom replacement in once-beloved shows.

When Charlie Sheen flamed out and off of CBS’s Two and a Half Men, it seemed the show could very well be done for. Without Sheen, it seemed a lot of the show’s appeal might disappear rapidly- and then came news of his replacement, Ashton Kutcher. While Kutcher is popular with young viewers, it seemed a gamble that could possibly not pay off in a pricey way for the network.

But initial viewer data is in, and it seems that Kutcher has worked as a replacement- at least in the first episode. And perhaps exceedingly so.

According to EW, it wasn’t just Two and a Half Men that scored big- Monday night in general was a coup for the network:

CBS’ entire comedy lineup was strong, with the night opening with back-to-back episodes of How I Met Your Mother (11.3 million, 4.7 and 12.2 million, 5.1, respectively), that were much higher than last fall’s premiere… CBS also crushed the premiere of ABC’s Dancing With the Stars (18.6 million, 3.9). While ABC held up better than any other CBS rival, the two-hour premiere was down a sharp 24 percent from last fall’s edition.

The premiere of the new, Sheen-less Two and a Half Men clocked in with an impressive 27.7 million viewers, on par with the premiere of American Idol. Ratings were particularly high among the 18-49 year old demographic, and up 110% over the premiere of the eighth season with Sheen. While there’s a chance the bump was in part curiosity, it seems Kutcher could be in for a good run on Two and a Half Men.

When Charlie Sheen filed a $100 million lawsuit against Warner Bros and CBS for firing him from the hit TV show Two and a Half Men we thought he was just a crazy and jilted former employee and now it turns out he had a case.

According to the Los Angeles Times Warner Bros. has agreed to a $25 million settlement with Sheen, a payment that will make the lawsuit disappear once and for all.

Sheen filed the lawsuit after he went on a drug and alcohol fueled binge in the middle of shooting last season. Sheen’s erratic behavior eventually led to his dismissal from the show.

While Sheen has called former co-star Jon Cryer a “troll” while publicly calling out show creator Chuck Lorre with names that have included “narcissist. coward. loser and spineless rat” he wished the entire crew “Nothing but the best for the upcoming season” while appearing on Sunday night at the Emmy Awards.

Sheen told Matt Lauer last week during a Today Show interview that he’s feeling “a lot more calm” now thanks to his new found sobriety.

The 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards aired live on Fox this past Sunday and many of the “usual suspects” took top prizes as the event including a fourth win for Mad Men and a top prize for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart which won the category for the ninth year in a row

Along with prizes being handed out, former Two and a Half Men star Charlie Sheen took to the stage to announce the best comedy actor prize, referring to the award as “his category” and announcing:

“I want to take a moment to get something off my chest, to say a few words to everyone here from Two and a Half Men,” while adding, “From the bottom of my heart, I wish you nothing but the best for this upcoming season. We spent eight wonderful years together and I know you will continue to make great television.”

When Big Bang Theory actor Jim Parsons won the category (another show by Two and a Half Men showrunner Chuck Lorre) he said of Sheen presenting his award:

“This is odd for so many reasons.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter Sheen could run into former Two and a Half Men co-star Jon Cryer who is nominated for a Best Supporting Actor trophy and who Sheen called a “troll” after Cryer did not publicly support him during his now infamous meltdown.

Also expected to be in attendance is Ashton Kutcher, the man who took Sheen’s job when Warner Bros. and CBS fired the former star.

There’s a chance the show could go off without a Charlie Sheen meltdown, the actor has recently been making all of the standard rounds to late night talk shows and he appears to be clear headed or in the least well-medicated.

If Sheen doesn’t end up presenting a top prize at the Emmy’s fans of his career can still catch him the following night when the Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen airs. Sheen did not submit his name for an award of his own, making him ineligible to be nominated.

While I’m a fan of watching Charlie Sheen completely lose his mind for the camera’s, I for one hope he will tone down his attitude for tonight’s award show and allow the Emmy’s to be the high brow event they aim to be.

The Emmy Awards are set to air live on Fox TV tonight from the NOKIA Theatre in Los Angeles.

Charlie Sheen has a message for Today Show host Matt Lauer, during an interview that will air on Friday he says that there are “portions” of his life “I would have amended a little bit” while adding that he has now sobered up and feels “calmer” these days.

When Lauer asks Sheen when his last drink or drug use occurred Sheen responds:

“I don’t really keep track of the time. It’s been awhile, because I feel like, without getting into my feelings about AA and all that stuff, if you’re walking around hanging on to your time, it’s only a matter of time before it goes, you know?”

Matt then asked:

“But you’re an actor in a business, and you know that producers out there and people who get involved in projects with you want to know, has it been two weeks, has it been two months, are you bankable, are you trustworthy.”

To which Sheen responds:

“Yeah of course, yeah, one hundred percent, yeah,” while adding, “I guess I would just have to lead by example. Words are only worth so much. It’s the actions and the behavior that matter.”

The interview continues on as the men talk about Sheen’s firing from his hit CBS show Two and a Half Men and his current state of mind to which Charlie Sheen says “I’m a lot calmer. It’s a lot mellower…I’m seeing my kids a lot more, mending fences…”

It’s good to know Sheen is attempting to right his wrongs but we’ve heard this all from Charlie in the past, it looks like his own words couldn’t be more true, only his actions and time will tell if he’s really a good bet moving forward.

The “manly men” theme for CBS’ hit series Two and a Half Men is one of the most recognizable TV show openings of recent memory and on Monday the show’s opening received an update, replacing Charlie Sheen with Ashton Kutcher for a new show preview.

The scene now features Angus T. Jones to the left (he use to be in the middle), Ashton Kutcher in the middle and Jon Cryer to the right.

Fans of the show will immediately realize that the song, while the same lyrics, has been redone to sound different thanks to a new studio band recording.

Here’s a first look at the new Two and a Half Men intro:

Jon Cryer has the goofiest smile, did you see his face at the end of the clip? If the new segment is any indication the show may be taking on a “lighter” feel than past episodes.

As a long-time fan of the show I personally can’t wait to see what Ashton Kutcher can bring to the mix, quite honestly I was growing a little tired of Uncle Charlie and his predictable escapades that failed to shock me after a few seasons.
