… and I’m part of the problem. Hear me out: Katie Holmes has a promotional genius behind her, whipping up a frenzy all on account of some silly denim. How much coverage has she managed to finagle simply because of a fugly pair of jeans? Or, more accurately, Tom’s fugly pair of jeans:

“Katie Holmes hasn’t just been wearing men’s jeans on recent NYC outings – she’s wearing husband Tom Cruise’s jeans!

‘It’s the new look Katie is going for,’ a source tells Us. A reason Holmes has been rolling them up? She’s 5′9″ and Cruise is 5′7″.”

Well, at least there was some change yesterday– uncuffed, baby!

I never thought that Katie Holmes would be responsible for bringing back a trend as horrid as tight-rolling, and I couldn’t imagine that I would be barraged by so many images of it in a week. (For reference: here, here, here, and yes– here.)

Maybe Katie’s really doing one of those techniques where she just keeps wearing the same thing until we all get tired of her. While it’s very possible, I can’t seem to pull my eyes away from those pants.

Drat! These tight-rolls have got me in a mind-meld.

Behold: Lindsay Lohan’s new collection, which includes these snazzy Ankle Gloves! 50% leggings, 50% socks. . . 100% ugly. The good news is that Intuition has an exclusive deal with Lindsay, which means that this type of gross stuff is somewhat confined to certain parts of the internet. You’ll have a better idea of how great that is after you witness the pair with kneepads, called Mr. President, no less.

What hurts me most of all is the fact that Lindsay’s collection was inspired by Marilyn Monroe. Ouch.

Lauren Conrad admitted in a recent issue of L.A. Direct that she had no idea she’d get this far– because “I always say this isn’t what I signed up for. I thought I signed up for a one-episode documentary.” (Um, neither did we.) But despite the initial shock, Lauren has built up an empire, Direct pointed out, that includes her Lauren Conrad Collection, which apparently is selling briskly. If you’ve seen it, you probably know that this is the scariest part of the whole article:

Though her celebrity status may be a point of contention among many, there’s no doubt Conrad has effectively parlayed her reality show fame into a legitimate and promising career in fashion.

I almost have more hope for Heidi Montag’s Heidiwood line, which has outsold Victoria’s Beckham’s dVb stuff and has an attractive price point.

Can’t Lauren mix things up a little? “OMG! I’m famous!” We’re (most likely) not; let’s move on.

Naomi Campbell of the soon-to-be-infamous trust game swoon has paired up with Victoria Beckham’s dVb line for a special “Naomi by dVb” collection. Naomi, even with all her shortcomings, is truly one hell of a muse, and Victoria gushed about the partnership, saying “The ‘Naomi by dVb’ [line] takes these elements into a denim cut which makes the leg look incredibly long. Who better to name this style after than Naomi Campbell?”

Naomi then backed Victoria up with the obligatory “I’m getting paid for this, so obviously I like it” speech, saying “I love the fit, model and cut of the Naomi jeans Victoria Beckham has designed. I have already worn them many times and people always stop me and ask the make of my jeans. Victoria did a great job capturing a stylish Seventies rock jean look.”

I want to know what she really thinks about it (does Naomi Campbell even wear a lot of denim?), and I’m also wondering what their business meetings are like. Do they just sit around and glare at each other? I’m almost rooting for disaster to strike just so I can hear about the fight. T’would be brutal.

Lindsay’s ad was bland at best, reportedly requesting that “no blondes” show up along with another itty bitty detail– you don’t actually get cash for the gig on Robertson Boulevard:

I suppose that’s one way to skim a little extra publicity– it’s just too bad that it will be 95% negative. At least it’s still free, right Linds?!

(Oh, and yes, some of these leggings actually have kneepads. I can imagine what was going through the “lucky” models’ minds.)

Victoria Beckham’s jeans were selling really well. Then the denials started rolling in, and it was claimed that Victoria didn’t really pull her weight when it came to promoting her ultra-posh, super-expensive jeans. That was 2006.

And now it’s 2008, and there’s been rumors that Victoria’s current line, “dVb by Victoria Beckham,” isn’t selling, that her promotional efforts are subpar, and yes, she has lost money because of it.

Now Rock and Republic is being sued for Posh’s “loss of earnings.” dVb reps, take note, and tread lightly. B*tch is on a roll.
