With Kris Humphries and Kim Kardashian set to reunite in Minnesota for talks about their failed 72-day marriage, Kardashian matriarch Kris Jenner has revealed her 31-year-old daughter “just really needed to talk to him!”

Speaking to Extra, Jenner said:

“Kim is a hopeless romantic. So she wants the fairy tale. She wanted to get married and have babies and raise a family and the white picket fence and all that comes with that. She’s a really good person with a huge heart. Whatever decisions Kim is making right now, she’s a very smart girl and she’s gonna do the right thing. All I can do is wrap my arms around her and make sure she’s okay.”

The fact her daughter filed for divorce after such a short marriage surprised Jenner, who described it as “not the ideal situation. It’s not how I expected things to happen, for sure.”

Yet the 56-year-old mom of six also believes it is important for her to remain calm amongst the mess of the split:

“[My children] need me to be strong for them, so that they can show their emotions,” she said. “[Kim] She needs to do what she’s doing, and cry and figure it out.”

This is not the first time Kris Humphries and Kim Kardashian have met since the divorce was filed. Jenner confirmed that the couple had met with their wedding pastor for talks over the weekend. A source told US Weekly that Kardashian has “wanted to see [Kris] face to face to put some finality on it. To give them both some closure.”

“I think when you know so deep in your heart that you just have to listen to your intuition, and follow your heart. There’s no right or wrong thing to do.”

Kardashian’s explanation follows a statement she recently made to her fans, in which she insisted, “First and foremost, I married for love. I can’t believe I even have to defend this. I would not have spent so much time on something just for a TV show!”

What Kardashian fails to mention is that she charged $17.9m for the rights to televise and cover her wedding (sold to E! Entertainment and magazines). That works out at just under $10,000 for every hour she was hitched to Humphries, which may explain the generally high levels of cynicism.

Since the Kardashian divorce, E! has released a statement denying rumors it orchestrated the TV wedding. E! Entertainment president Suzanne Kolb also stated that the divorce is unlikely to affect Kardashian professionally:

“I don’t even know if Kim has had a chance to emotionally process this the way that she needs to. I don’t have any indication that this is going to change her career path.”

Still, E! can’t really complain. The wedding scored massive ratings, and the channel is going ahead with its plans to re-run the wedding in prime time Wednesday and Thursday slots this week. Isn’t that grotesquely insensitive? Er, YES. Not according to Kolb, who sounds impressively free of shame:

Suggestions that Kardashian’s marriage was a hoax are still flying thick and fast from all corners. Robert Thompson, director of the Center for the Study of Popular Television at Syracuse University, opines:

“With a television family such as the Kardashians, I don’t know if the distinction between reality and contrivance means anything anymore. [...] Chevy manufactures cars out of their assembly line. The Kardashians manufacture stories like these. This is what they do. This is their product.”

In a separate interview with an Australian TV channel, Kardashian said she’s yet to decide on what will happen to her 20.5-carat engagement ring, or with the gifts she received from her wedding. But – and where J.Lo is concerned, it’s a big but – it may not be so final. Star reports that ‘a source close to the couple’ are attempting to patch things up for the sake of their twins, Emme and Max.

This fresh speculation follows an incident over the weekend in which Lopez broke down on stage while performing what she called “the last song [she] wrote about love.” Straight after her emotional outburst, Star writes that Lopez attended an event she was booked for many months ago, only to bump into Anthony at said event.

This, says the site, gave the couple time to talk over their marriage for the first time since they announced their split on July 15th. Since then, the pair have simply not been around one another due to various career commitments.

Star‘s anonymous source states:

“Jennifer does not want to get divorced and it willing to patch things up. But Marc has a lot of changing to do in order to win her back.”

While that statement seems to suggest Marc Anthony was unfaithful, nobody outside of the couple seems to know the truth. Indeed, early rumors suggested it was Lopez’s infidelity that led to the split.

Lost star, Australian actress Emilie de Ravin is to divorce her husband Josh Janowicz.

A rep for de Ravin said in a statement that “Emilie and her husband have filed for divorce.They have recently been living separately and remain friends.”

The couple married in Melbourne in 2006 and shared a home in Los Angeles. Jonowicz lists his occupation as being an actor, although he has mostly only played bit parts in minor television shows, vs de Ravin who a starting opposite both Johnny Depp, and Robert Pattinson is separate movies due out this year.

In Hollywood? 24 years? Even though being together for what we consider a lifetime in Tinsel Town Years, Morgan Freeman and wife Myrna Colley-Lee are splitting up:

Mississippi-based attorney Bill Luckett tells Access Hollywood the couple “are involved in a divorce action.” Luckett adds that “for legal and practical purposes, [Freeman and Colley-Lee] have been separated since December of 2007.”

Morgan Freeman’s having an awfully rocky year, since the news of his divorce happens to be riding on the coattails of his bad, bad accident.
