Los Angeles lawyer Ray Boucher sued the LA Archidocese on behalf of 500 plaintiffs and now he has revealed that 200 more priests suspected of committing sexual abuse are likely being hidden by the church in California.

According to MSNBC the location of those priests have not been revealed because they have not been convicted of sex abuse. Because no convictions were made laws pertaining to identifying the location of pedophiles doesn’t apply to them.

Boucher says of that situation:

“Many, if not all, of these priests have admitted to sexual abuse. They live within a mile of 1,500 playgrounds, schools and daycare centers.”

After settling Bouchers lawsuit for $600 million in 2007 the L.A. Archdiocese refused to accept any wrongdoing on behalf of its pedophile priests.

The lawyer says the church has now allowed many of their accused priests to retire or hide out until the statue of limitations runs out on their crimes which would make it impossible to file lawsuits against the church.

“By enabling these priests to be hidden for so many years, the church protected them from being prosecuted,” said Boucher.

Officials for the church claim the right to privacy since the priests have not been convicted of crimes, a California judge has called that statement out, ordering that files for many of those priests be revealed in the coming weeks.

California Honda Civic Hybrid owner Heather Peters chose to opt-out of a class action lawsuit and now she’s $9,867 dollars richer.

The original class-action lawsuit was filed when Honda Civic Hybrid owners realized that their vehicles were not receiving the 50 miles per gallon promised to them by Honda.

Peters was informed by the judged decision by the Associated Press for which she responded:

“I am absolutely thrilled. Sometimes big justice comes in small packages,” she said. “This is a victory for Honda Civic owners everywhere.”

Peters won nearly $10,000 by taking the company to small claims court after she decided not to be included in a class action lawsuit that would have paid her just $100 to $200.

According to estimates if Honda was forced to pay out $9,867 to every single customer involved in the class action lawsuit they would  lose nearly $2 billion.

In the meantime Peters has launched DontSettleWithHonda.org which helps other Honda Civic Hybrid owners understand the steps needed to sue the company outside of the class action lawsuit.

While small claims court means more time spent battling against the company there are no court fees and cases are quickly decided.

Honda for its part stands behind the 50 miles per gallon sticker found on new cars, according to the company they are required by federal guidelines to post the highest possible mileage possible with the vehicle. The company notes that certain driving conditions can change that MPG value.

Peters and others however claim they never saw better then 30 miles per gallon with their vehicles, 40% lower then Honda’s “maximum” mileage.

Baseball Hall of Famer Gary Carter has developed new brain tumors, according to his daughter’s announcement on her website Thursday.

“I write these words with tears because I am so sad for my dad,” Kimmy Carter Bloemers wrote.

Carter was diagnosed last year with a brain tumor and has been undergoing treatment. A recent MRI revealed more tumor growths, Bloemers said. She further detailed what had been a difficult week for her father; Carter tore his rotator cuff after a fall in the hallway of his doctor’s office, and underwent surgery on an open gum wound.

“He had to get shots to numb the area so they could remove a small sharp bone and shave down what had been bothering dad for quite a while. Thankfully, that area in his mouth has been starting to feel better,” Bloemers wrote.

The blog ends with details of Carter’s worsened condition:

“Yesterday, we were waiting in anticipation for dad’s MRI results (since they were being sent to Duke) but were told they would be in today…..dad had a difficult day and he had to rest.

“Just a few moments ago, my mom received a phone call from Dr. V at Duke. I wish I could say that the results were good…

“Dr. V told my mom that there are now several new spots/tumors on my dad’s brain. I write these words with tears because I am so sad for my dad. Dr. Jimmy Harris will be coming to my parent’s house this evening to talk to the family about the next step. I will continue to keep you all updated. Love to everyone and thank you for the prayers.”

Zoe Saldana is no stranger to playing action heroes on the big screen, but this week she can add real hero to her extensive resume after some quick thinking, sharp instincts, a little elbow grease and a little bit of luck helped her save a real person’s life.

The 33-year-old actress rushed to the side of an elderly woman who had gotten into a car accident on Wednesday in Culver City, California.

“Zoe witnessed the car accident, and was very quick to help,” said one witness. She “immediately got on the phone with 911 and she seemed very concerned.”

Saldana was joined by another passerby, and they both pulled the woman from the wreck to a nearby curb. The woman was conscious, but injured. They called 911 and waited on the curb together for the police and paramedics to arrive. The witness added:

“While waiting for help to arrive, Zoe returned to the woman’s car and picked up the woman’s handbag and sweater. Zoe was very caring and sweet to the woman.”

Saldana’s representative had no comment regarding the incident.

Though getting her start in bit roles (Crossroads, Drumline, The Terminal) her breakout role came in 2000 with the film Center Stage. She has since appeared in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Star Trek, and James Cameron’s box-office record-breaking hit Avatar as Neytiri, the female lead opposite Sam Worthington’s Jake Sully. She recently appeared as the lead in the film Colombiana, and is expected to reprise her roles in Star Trek and Avatar sequels.

Pornographers shooting movies in Los Angeles are now required by law to have all male performers wear condoms during filming.

City Council members voted 9-1 to approve the ordinance which will go into effect 90 days from Tuesday. Under the cities plans a film permit fee will then be used to fund surprise inspections on porn shoots to ensure compliance.

While California occupational health authorities have had a similar rule in effect for some time it has never been fully enforced.

Speaking to Reuters the chief of a porn industry trade group complained:

“Clearly, this is about the government overreaching and intruding into consenting adults’ decisions.” That Chief adds, “They are taking something they know nothing about and imposing their morality on our industry.”

In the meantime the AIDS Healthcare Foundation has applauded the measure which it fought to have enacted into law for years. The agency believes that changes will be made since receiving porn permits in other towns outside of California have been hard to come by. Even in parts of Las Vegas where prostitution has been legalized the use of condoms is a requirement for sex workers.

The Aids organization promises to “follow them wherever they go” in referring to the pornographers who may flee Los Angeles and head for no condom required areas throughout the United States, that is if other cities will have them.

Elton John and Madonna have had an ongoing  feud for years and now John’s husband David Furnish has helped stoke the flames of that hatred by calling Madonna for beating Elton in the best song category for “Masterpiece” at this years Golden Globes.

Writing on Facebook Furnish said:  ”Madonna. Best song???? F**k off!!!”

Furnish then continued:

“Madonna winning Best Original Song truly shows how these awards have nothing to do with merit. Her acceptance speech was embarrassing in it’s narcissism. And her criticism of Gaga shows how desperate she really is.”

It wasn’t just Furnish who was pissed at the choice in winner, John looked outright pissed as cameras showed him during the speech.  Watch below:

The mean words for Madonna started on the red carpet when Elton John said of her song that she, ”hasn’t got a f***ing chance” of winning.”

After the show Madonna did say she wanted to speak to Elton John:

“He’s been known to get mad at me so I don’t know,” she continued. “He’s brilliant and I adore him so he’ll win another award. I don’t feel bad!”

News of Facebook’s IPO has been floating around for the last year. At one of the largest IPO’s in tech history, they along with investors, stand to make a pretty penny. Also to profit from the IPO is none other than the state of California.

How exactly? Considering that Facebook is headquartered in the state in Palo Alto, the state will make hundreds of Millions of dollars from investors and employees through capital gains taxes. With a $9.2 Billion deficit, it’s sure to be welcomed by the Treasury department.

“An initial public offering from the Silicon Valley social networking giant is the most anticipated, with the legislative analyst saying the company could issue $10 billion worth of stock. California taxes the capital gains from stock sales.”

“In the coming months, the state’s revenue forecast will need to be adjusted somewhat to account for the possibility of hundreds of millions of dollars of additional revenues related to the Facebook IPO,” Legislative Analyst Mac Taylor wrote in the analysis of Gov. Jerry Brown’s budget proposal, released Wednesday.”

Facebook stands to do well with their IPO and something that is planned to happen before the second half of this year. Nearing 1 Billion users, the social network is at their peak with revenue estimated at reaching over $4 Billion in 2011, now is the time to go public.

Turning into a public versus private company could spell some potential issues however. Being public, you’re required to disclose a slew of different details, details that Facebook has always been extremely secretive about. Let’s just hope there’s no more privacy snafus hiding around.

Taylor said in her YouTube video that she has been a girl scout for more than 8 years.  She is protesting the scouts using the proceeds of the sale of the cookies to promote the values of a few people over the majority.

She also was quoted as saying,

“Right now, Girl Scouts of the U.S.A…is not being honest with us girls, its troops, its leaders, its parents or the American public. Girl Scouts describes itself as an all-girl experience. With that label, families trust that the girls will be in an environment that is not only nurturing and sensitive to girls’ needs, but also safe for girls. I am asking you to take action with me and boycott Girl Scout Cookies.”

The video shows her pitching her own website, Honest Girl Scouts site, which is advocating for the Girl Scouts of America to go back to its roots and “advocating for a change back to simply building girls of good character.”.

The decision of the Girl Scouts of America to admit Bobby Montoya has met with considerable controversy.  Several southern scout troupes have dissolved their charters in protest.  While Colorado troupes have been very supportive releasing the following statement.

The Statement read,

“If a child identifies as a girl and the child’s family presents her as a girl, Girl Scouts of Colorado welcomes her as a Girl Scout.”

Deep-set and long-running disagreements between federal agencies and Southern California Edison have delayed millions of dollars worth of renewable energy projects meant to power facilities in California’s national parks and forests.

To wit: an $800,000 solar panel project at Death Valley National Park, photovoltaic panels at the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area visitor center, and a solar power system at the U.S. Forest Preserve’s Mono Lake facility are just a few of the contracts stalled by the fed’s inability to reach an agreement with Edison regarding how to fit the projects into the state’s electrical grid. All of these projects are of course funded by John Q. Taxpayer.

Though it would be easy to point the finger at Edison and the general resistance in the private market to alternative energy initiatives, the blame here lies with the fed. Generally speaking, according to federal law, federal agencies are not supposed to make deals that could leave them liable for future damages. Once again, it is a money issue, but one of the federal government, as these pet-projects are dollar commitments that Congress hasn’t exactly allocated. Lots of red tape when the fed and the private market try to make a baby.

However, other utilities in California have made similar arrangements with the fed without impasse, and indeed very few road bumps.

The situation has caused the parks to struggle to meet their renewable energy goals, in the face of federal orders to reduce their carbon footprint. In addition, the parks are losing tens of thousands of dollars from utility bills during the stall.

“It is disappointing to see this big investment sitting idle when we could easily flip the switch and produce benefits,” said park superintendent Woody Smeck.”We are purchasing electricity from SCE, whereas we could be using renewable energy from the sun and returning power to the grid.”

Death Valley National Park superintendent Sarah L. Craighead lamented solar projects that have been switched off for nearly two years:

“We have been trying to get these agreements in place for quite some time. Everything is just sitting in the queue,” she said. “We want to turn these things on.”

Death Valley park officials hope that the revamped visitor’s center will reduce their energy costs by 70%.

Cal Worthington has been in the car business for more than 57 years, selling more than one million vehicles while earning the title “Greatest Car Salesman in the World” and now he’s participated in one of the least loved car salesman traits of all, the repossession. But this wasn’t your typical vehicle, it turns out Worthington, 91, and wife Anna, 42, are getting divorced and he repo’d her Bentley.

Making matters worst Cal had the Bentley towed from outside of Anna’s moms house and then said she should be driving the same 2004 Chrysler Sebring she was using for transportation before they wed.

Before the senior citizen married his much younger wife he had a prenup drawn up which Worthington claims leaves her with just $4,000 per month for 6 months and then nothing.

Anna on the other hand says her $3.25 million Beverly Hills mansion was a wedding gift from her soon-to-be ex-husband, which in turn entitles her to keep the property, a claim Worthington says is complete BS. In fact Cal Worthington has petitioned a judge to block Anna from entering the mansion.

In the meantime Anna has hired former Kevin Federline divorce lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan. Anna says she needed a high profile lawyer to “insure [Cal] does not leave me on the street without any means to live.”

Perhaps she wouldn’t have needed such a big time lawyer if she never agreed to a prenuptial agreement in the first place, after all who really believes a 42-year-old would want to marry a 91-year-old guy for love.

This is it! Michael Jackson will finally get the chance to have his hands and feet set in stone in front of Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. Don’t let the fact that Michael, though undeniably talented in life, was never a movie star phase you. It hasn’t phased the executors of his estate or the owners of Grauman’s, who are immovably set on making this happen on January 26.

The impressions of Michael’s hands and feet will be made that day to celebrate the debut of “Michael Jackson The Immortal World Tour”, a production by a group you may have heard of, Cirque du Soleil. In a poetic move, the producers have rallied the late singer’s kids together to commit Michael’s hands and feet to the forecourt.

If your first thought was the same as mine, so undeniably morbid that it doesn’t bear repeating, fear not. 14-year-old Prince, 13-year-old Paris, and 9-year-old Blanket will be using Michael’s iconic sequined glove and shoes to make the impressions. Alongside the trio will be the Chinese’s new owners, movie producer Donald Kushner, and entrepreneur Elie Samaha, who have all had a hand in removing old slabs and replacing them with fresh talent.

Though the film community has been in some uproar over several recent inductees (the entire Twilight crew and several fictional characters t’boot) that they believe don’t quite size-up to the honor, no one’s made any ado about Michael’s planned ceremony.

This posthumous honor is unique to Michael; this will be the first time that the guest of honor hasn’t been alive for his or her own print ceremony.

LOS ANGELES, California -Pope Benny has accepted a rare early resignation from a Los Angeles bishop who recently admitted to being the proud papa of two teenagers.

No, this is not The Onion. 60-year-old Los Angeles Auxiliary Bishop Gabino Zavala tendered his resignation with the Catholic Church today under a code of canon law that lets bishops step down before the usual retirement age of 75 due to sickness or any other reason that may make them unfit for office – in this case, a violation of the Roman Catholic requirement of priesthood celibacy.

Los Angeles Archbishop Jose Gomez was the whistleblower, saying that Zavala had told him last month that he was the father of two teenagers who lived in a different state with their mother. Not long after, Zavala gave his notice.

The archdiocese is playing fair, offering spiritual and financial help (for college) to the teenagers, according to Gomez’s letter posted to the blog of the Catholic News Service of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.

California Bishop Resigns… Because He Has Two Kids is a post from: The Inquisitr

When a lone gray wolf trotted across the border into California on Thursday, a little bit of history was made. That’s because this was the first wild wolf to appear in the state in close to a hundred years. The young wolf was first spotted leaving the rest of his pack behind in Oregon in September.

Known to conservationists as ’0R7,’ the two-and-a-half year-old male was tracked via his GPS collar several miles inside California’s northern border. The news is being seen as a victory amongst environmentalists and wildlife agencies. Charlton H. Bonham, director of the California Department of Fish and Game, told the San Francisco Chronicle:

“Whether one is for it or against it, the entry of this lone wolf into California is an historic event and the result of much work by the wildlife agencies in the West. If the gray wolf does establish a population in California, there will be much more work to do here.”

Not everybody is so ecstatic. Concerned farmers and ranchers are worried the reappearance of wolves in California will threaten the safety of livestock. In California, wolves have long been listed as endangered under the federal Endangered Species Act, so shooting a wolf is out of the question. Local cattle rancher Jack Hanson says only the law is holding ranchers back:

“We do not welcome the wolf back in California. We would like to put a big shield up and keep him out, no doubt. [...] If there were no regulations, our family would shoot them on sight so that they did not multiply.”

However, others contend a lone wolf is not a threat, and that livestock are only targeted by packs of wolves. Assistant regional director of ecological services for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Pacific Southwest region Mike Fris told the Chronicle a single wolf is “more likely to be feeding on carcasses than livestock. He’s the only wolf we know of in the state of California at the moment.”

Although livestock may be endangered by packs of wolves, the gray wolf is not known to target humans, with the rare few attacks in history attributed to rabies or starvation.

0R7 is the only wolf in California right now, but that’s expected to change. The gray wolf population has been on the rise in the States in recent years. In 1999, a lone wolf crossed the border into Oregon, and the state now has almost thirty gray wolves, divided into four packs. Good to see a species actually thriving for once!

While digging San Francisco’s multi-billion dollar transportation tunnel, workers unearthed an impressive number of gold rush artifacts, including clay opium pipes from a Chinese laundry, various French perfume bottles, a chipped porcelain chamber pot from an outhouse, and  toothbrushes made of animal bones.

The nearly 70 gold rush artifacts date back to around the 1880s when Chinese, German, Italian and Swedish immigrants populated the area. The wide variety of artifacts discovered, from your basic essentials to newspaper articles and so on, provide a window to the gold rush days, so to speak, giving archaeologists insight into the culture of that age.

“It’s not often that you get a chance to stop for a moment and have a window into what used to be,” archaeologist James M. Allan, with William Self Associates, told the Associated Press. “It gives you pause.”

Allan went on to say that while the number of gold rush artifacts discovered so far is an already impressive amount, he expects that much more will be found as workers continue to dig San Francisco’s transportation tunnel.

“What is unusual is that we were able to identify the people and occupations of the early Gold Rush,” he said. “When the Gold Rush started in the 1850s, the miners came here and there was no place for them to live, so they lived in the sand dunes and then tent camps. We found the evidence: a wooden floor and a lot of bottles, barrels, a privy, leather shoes and boots.”

LOS ANGELES, CA – Occupy LA protesters have cost the city of Los Angeles an estimated $2.35 million since they took to the cities streets.

According to the Los Angeles Times much of that money has been spent paying police officers overtime, which in turn helps the local economy.

The high cost of watching over the protesters does not include some other costs such as repairing the lawn where protesters have been camping for two-months along with a vandalized fountain outside City Hall.

In the spending report time-and-a-half was paid to regular force and general services police who patrol city parks, an amount equal to approximately $1.5 million.

City officials expect that at least $1.7 million will be added to the cities expected $72 million debt while the rest will be covered by standard operating costs.

While that number may seem high the Michael Jackson single-day memorial service at the Staples Center in Los Angeles in 2009 cost the city $3.2 million for an event that didn’t even last the entire day.

In the meantime the city attorney has suggested that protesters could be sued to recover the cost of damages caused by demonstrators at the City Hall fountain incident.

In response to the attorney’s suggestion of a lawsuit one spokesman for Occupy LA called the cities estimated figures “outrageous” and accused the city of using protesters as scape goats for the cities own operating expense problems.

As Carlos Marroquin told the LA Times: 

“This was a peaceful movement,” and “They’re the ones who decided to use that amount of police.”

Occupy LA Is Costing City Taxpayers Less Than Michael Jackson Memorial is a post from: The Inquisitr

Jules Manson wasn’t able to win enough votes for a city council seat in California and now the failed Tea Party candidate has completely lost their cool, calling for the assassination of President Obama, his wife Michelle Obama and their “monkey children.”

The outwardly racist comment, sure to land Manson in plenty of hot water, was posted on the politicians Facebook page after President Obama supported a revised military authorization bill.

Manson eventually removed his rant and replaced it with another notice about his right to make such a comment in which he posted:

“Once you have taken the position that anyone should be imprisoned for careless emotionally driven remarks that had no real substance, you deserve what your government has become.”

The failed politician then added:

“All I can really say is to be careful what you wish for because setting such a precedence can come back to bite you.”

Mason originally ran for office because he opposed high taxes and the rising lease rates at his trailer park. The Tea Party member was also a frequenter poster on the Ron Paul website however since his Facebook assassination request against the 1st family went public those comments have been scrubbed from Ron Paul’s website and Facebook pages.

In his original Facebook post he wrote:

“It must be countered with assassinations onto them and their children,” and ”Assassinate the f—-n (N-word) and his monkey children.”

As for his political future, he received just 550 votes during his election attempt, less than 4% of the counted votes.

Failed Tea Party Candidate Uses Racist Remarks, Asks For Assassination Of Obama Family is a post from: The Inquisitr

Dozens of holiday shoppers using layaway programs all over the country have been experiencing a little holiday miracle of their own as secret santas have been paying off their in-store debt.

According to NPR the random acts of kindness have so far been reported at Kmart and Walmart locations in California, Nebraska, Michigan, Iowa, Indiana, South Carolina and Montana.

At one Kmart store in Michigan a woman reported to be in her 30s walked into the store and asked if she could help pay off several accounts that had toys included in them. She then proceeded to pay $500 while leaving just $10 to be paid in each of the three accounts.

Hopefully each of the people with $10 left in their accounts head into the store to make payments or Kmart could walk away with a lot of secret Santa forfeited cash.

While she did not reveal her identity to store workers or the family’s she helped she did leave a message that simply read:

“Happy Holidays from a friend.”

That isn’t the only story from this particular KMart, according to workers they have received at least $150 in secret Santa donations every day since the first mysterious shopper entered their store.

Time reports that in California one man even dropped off $2,000 and asked that it be used to pay off layaway plans for shoppers.

According to one of the lucky KMart shoppers who had $200 worth of toys paid off for her son David the secret Santa “restored her faith in people.”

Hugh Hefner, champion of women’s rights to be blonde, tanned and nude at his behest, has spoken out about his role in Lindsay Lohan’s much buzzed about nude Playboy pictorial.

85-year-old Hefner admitted some reservations about Lohan’s mental state in agreeing to the pics, but in essence, who cares? Lindsay Lohan’s vadge! Hefner says the troubled star was not super keen on baring all for the nudie mag that is now struggling for relevancy in the age of internet porn, but that he supplied a verbal roofie to the former child star in convincing her to get her kit off to sell some of the once-popular rag that made Anna Nicole Smith and Pamela Anderson stars. Hef says Dina Lohan appeared and objected, finally, to one of Lindsay’s not necessarily great ideas, but that he managed to talk her into it:

“I think it was essentially mama [Dina] and the folks around her that kept pushing for less nudity… And I said, ‘We’re doing a nude pictorial here. We’re going to do it in a very classy way and we’re going to do it in a way in which it will not be forgotten.’”

If that all sounds a bit uncomfortable and awkward to you, don’t think Hefner didn’t consider that Lohan may not be the best decision maker before talking her into taking naked pics she can never take back while her career tanks:

“It really came as a surprise to me… I kind of had mixed emotions about it initially. . . I wasn’t quite sure where she was at in her life, obviously. It depends on whether it’s Tuesday or Thursday.”

Obviously, Lohan is an adult and can make her own decisions, but it’s kind of sad since she seems to want her fame back so badly and Hefner is in a position to promise her some of it back, perhaps.

Taco Bell and tortilla chip maker Doritos have teamed up to reinvent the taco shell with the goodness of Doritos cheesiness and the crunch allure of a Taco Bell taco.

The idea came about after parent company Yum Brands decided to join forces further with PepsiCo (owners of the Doritos brand).

The Taco’s actually debuted in selected San Joaquin Valley, California markets at the start of 2011 where they were a hit for both company’s.

The company claims that the Doritos Locos Tacos will “reinvent the taco” and help Taco Bell push away competitors. To compensate for the more flavorful taco shells the company is said to have added a more mild mixture to their Doritos taco filling.

As if trying to eat a Taco in your car after waiting 15 minutes in their drive thru wasn’t bad enough, now you’ll have to get all of that famous orange Doritos powder off your hands as well.

A photo of Lindsay Lohan’s Playboy cover surfaced on Wednesday, well ahead of the company’s January/February issue release.

The cover was leaked after an early copy was sent out and features Lindsay Lohan with her female parts strategically covered by a red bunny logo shaped chair.

The Playboy issue will officially hit newsstands until later in the month and the official cover photo is expected to arrive on Dec. 15. During the official cover photo reveal Lohan will sit down with Ellen DeGeneres (Dec. 15) to discuss her Playboy photo shoot, Lohan’s rep has revealed that the Ellen interview will be her only public discussion about the Playboy job.

Speaking about the cover and photo spread Lohan’s rep said it was  ”absolutely fantastic and very tasteful,”  while Hugh Hefner has recently called the photo shoot “very classy” which is hard to believe since Lindsay Lohan was involved.

Lohan has hoped for the last several months that her photo shoot and attempt to stay out of trouble will help generate interest in her career which has waned since her DUI arrest and following necklace-theft.

Playboy has a lot riding on the cover and inside spread, after shooting a first run with Lohan in November she was called back for a re-shoot after Playboy founder Hugh Hefner determined that the first shoot didn’t meet his expectations. Lohan is not expected to appear fully nude in the shoot.

Playboy says Lohan was channeling Marilyn Monroe for the shoot, I personally don’t see it.
