Avril Lavigne and Brody Jenner have called it off, according to sources close to Us Weekly.

The couple, who have been dating since spring 2010, have reportedly split due to conflict over their careers – or specificially, Jenner’s lack of one. According to Us Weekly‘s source, former Hills star Jenner wanted to work more, but his pop star girlfriend preferred to take him around the world with her as she toured. The shadowy insider told Us:

“Every time he wanted to come back and take meetings to get his career back in order, she would make him go to Asia and Europe. He hasn’t worked and he wants to. They were both unhappy because he wants to have his career, she wants him to stay with her.”

The mole even says the 25-year-old pop singer vetoed “multiple” TV offers that were made to Jenner, as she preferred to have him by his side. There may well be another side to this story, but a rep for Lavigne gave a “no comment” when approached about the split.

In the past, the couple have looked a fairly solid pair. Jenner, in particular, has shown an affection for Lavigne that led to him getting a tattoo of her name on his forearm, and an ‘A’ shaved into his hair. Hell, they even fought in bars together.

Alas, the evenings of Jenner watching Avril from the side of a stage and throwing punches in clubs together seem to be over. But there is a chink of hope, apparently. The source adds:

“There is always a chance they will get back together. Brody is trying to set the ground rules and wants to be able to work. They have to find a balance.”

Brody Jenner has filed a police report after getting involved in a bar brawl with girlfriend Avril Lavigne.

According to Los Angeles police Sgt. Keith Green, reality TV star Jenner’s report alleges assault with a deadly weapon – the 28-year-old says he was hit by a bottle outside the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. Singer Lavigne has also revealed (via her Twitter account) that she was assaulted, saying five people attacked her “out of nowhere.”

However, one witness who spoke to Us Weekly says he didn’t see a beer bottle, and that Brody Jenner was actually the initiator of the fight:

“Brody came over aggressively and got involved. They were scuffling on the floor… Brody was the aggressor and had five guys with him. When they finally got up Brody was bleeding. There was no bottle with blood and no bottle broken or anything like that [visible].”

A second witness explains to Us how the fight was triggered:

“At first, the girl called Brody something and that set Avril off so she talked s**t back to them.”

Frankly, it sounds like an almighty mess. Sgt. Green thankfully has some hard facts, confirming that nobody has yet been arrested, and that Jenner, star of MTV’s The Hills, was not given medical help on the scene, though he did later attend a hospital for stitches to his cuts.

A police investigation over the scuffle is ongoing. Watch this space.

Singer Avril Lavigne and boyfriend Brody Jenner got a bit banged up in an incident at a Hollywood nightclub this weekend, but sources present at the altercation say the celeb couple were not the instigators.

It all went down at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood late Saturday/early Sunday. Lavigne and Jenner were having a night out that appeared to be normal- Jenner even tweeted:

“Having the best night with the love of my life @AvrilLavigne so happy right now!! .. #Movember CRUSH!!”

What happened between then and the brawl is still being determined. Onlookers say that one rowdy drunk clubgoer called Jenner a “douche,” and threw a beer bottle. At some point, it would appear Lavigne was drawn into the fray, and that there was an altercation between the singer and some female attendees as well. Lavigne tweeted later:

“I don’t fight. I don’t believe in it. To clear things up I got attacked by 5 people last night out of nowhere. Not cool. My face is f—ed… As in black eye, bloody nose, hair ripped out, scratches, bruises and cuts. So not ok to be abusive to others. Violence is NEVER the answer.”

Jenner tweeted following the fracas:

“Interesting Saturday night… Just got of the hospital with a new scar on my face.. Charges/chargers!!!”

Luckily for Lavigne, she does have someone looking out for her. Her most recent tweet states:

“Thank you @EvanT for coming over to visit me today and bringing me a hello kitty ice pack. I’m so lucky to have a friend like you.”

No arrests have yet been made in relation to the incident.

Brody Jenner got more than he bargained for on Friday night when he went to the Hollywood Roosevelt with girlfriend Avril Lavigne and was smashed in the face with a bottle.

Police are still investigating the fight but according to onlookers Lavigne got into an altercation with another female at which point her former Hills starring boyfriend jumped in to break up the fight.

Eventually fists were thrown, people were hit and police arrived at which point Jenner was taken to the hospital.

According to reports Jenner received a few stitches and was quickly sent on his way.

Right before the altercation Jenner had tweeted:

“Having the best night with the love of my life @AvrilLavigne so happy right now!! .. #Movember CRUSH!! haha”.

After the fight Jenner tweeted:

“Interesting Saturday night… Just got of the hospital with a new scar on my face.. Charges/chargers!!!”

At this time nothing else is being said by the couple’s reps and we’ll have to wait for the full police report to determine exactly what likely happened.

Apparently if you’re the step-brother of Kim Kardashian you’re the last person to know she’s engaged. Kim and boyfriend of six-months Kris Humphries announced their engagement this morning and Brody found out with the rest of the world.

A party was held for Kim but Brody must not have received an invite, Tweeting on Wednesday morning:

“My sister is engaged? Hahaha I had no idea!!.. Crazy being in such a big family.. Congrats @Kimkardashian love you. Let’s celebrate soon”

Brody then directed a text at Kourtney and her sister Khloe Kardashian:

“@KourtneyKardash @khloekardashian Why don’t you guys ever fill me in? Haha no text or anything?”

Apparently the family had their wires cross with Khloe tweeting:

“I thought kim would have?! LOL I die for u! “@BrodyJenner” and “Yes @BrodyJenner our family is getting way too big! LOL let’s all celebrate together!”

With the busy schedules the entire family has I’m surprised he ever found out. Before the rumor mill gets started about family squabbling this one really does seem to be just a case of miscommunication.

Perfectly timed with her new single “Overdosin’” (which is “about when you fall in love with someone, and you’re just overdosing off of their love”), Heidi Montag has taken the opportunity to tell PEOPLE exactly how much she’d like to rip that throne right out from under her Hills comrade L.C.. How comforting. I think this is why she’s not invited to the after parties anymore. Behold:

Montag: “I think that maybe Lauren is tired of [being on the show], but we’re just beginning.”
Pratt: “Sometimes the narrator has to throw their hate up on the wall and pass the mic. It’s my favorite show. I love it. The Hills season 10 is what I’m going for.”

DUH, Spencer-with-the-flesh-beard. It’s like the best meal ticket ever and your key to things like 12 million dollar houses.

If I were Lauren Conrad, I’d be a little scared. These two seem like the type to stop at nothing to get what they want (which is money, obviously).

Don’t forget that The Hills will be on tonight, folks! Not like MTV is letting me forget.

Just when you thought “It’s Complicated” was the most vile thing that Ryan Seacrest could possibly produce, I think we have a new contender for the title of “Biggest Piece of Sh*t Unscripted Show” ever.

Brody Jenner, The Hills occasional co-star slash drop-in, has signed on for six initial episodes of Bromance, in which potential members of Jenner’s entourage compete in areas like paparazzi navigation and skydiving. These definitely sound like the qualities of a real friend to me, too. Especially if this new friend, like Brody’s pal Frankie Delgado, is into filming inappropriate videos of his two underage sisters (!).

Bromance also means that Paris Hilton was actually more original than somebody for once, since her BFF show was announced way back in February. Golf claps to Paris, boo to Bromance!
