‘The Dark Night Rises’ Advanced Ticket Sales Start June 11

The Dark Knight Rises won’t reach theaters on Monday, June 11 but tickets will go on sale for the movies upcoming premiere. The pre-sales announcement was made by Warner bros. through its official Twitter account.

Producers are hoping that the final film in the Batman trilogy can beat The Avengers which took in $207.4 million on opening weekend. The Dark Knight managed to score $158.4 million when it opened in 2008, a showing that scored well among viewers eager to take in the role of the Joker who was played by the late Heath Ledger.

The Batman Trilogy has quickly picked up speed after the first movie Batman Begins took in just $48.7 million during its opening weekend box office.

Warner Bros. began selling pre-sale tickets for The Dark Knight Rises IMAX screenings six months ago and those tickets quickly sold out for the movies July 19 midnight showings.

In the meantime AMC theaters will sell tickets to a “Dark Knight” marathon that will include both “Batman Begins” and “The Dark Knight” which will start on July 19 and lead up to the July 20 midnight showing.

Shot with an IMAX camera the Dark Knight Rises will feature the most IMAX footage ever seen in a Hollywood feature, clocking in at more than 60 minutes of footage compared to 50 minutes featured in The Dark Knight.
