I don’t know how many weekend nights I lost when I was younger because of RISK weekends but it was one of my most favorite board games ever and now it seems that someone has decided to modernize it.

Instead of plastic men you can now play with plastic soldiers from different corporations that are lead by the characters from the Metal Gear Solid characters. The game contains 290 custom pieces, 5 PMC armies, 8 Bosses, and Outer Haven battleship, Drebin’ Shop cards, territory cards, PMC headquarters, a custom Outer Haven game board, and 7 dice.

Pre-orders for the limited run of 2,014 will open on October 3 and close on November 15; or at least until the supplies run out.

The completely customized version of the iconic Parker Brothers game features an updated playing surface, swapping the more traditional properties, such as “Park Place” and “Water Works,” with the band’s most popular albums and locations including Black Ice, Stiff Upper Lip, and AC/DC Lane, essentially allowing fans to build their own AC/DC empire.

Replacing the standard small metal tokens that players use to move around the board’s edge are more rock-appropriate ones which include a cannon, a bundle of dynamite, a bell on fire, Angus’s school boy hat, stacks of cash, and a lightning bolt – similar to the one in the band’s logo.

You don’t even have to spell stuff!

Those of us who grew up in an era where even Commodore 64s and Ataris were somewhat rareish may remember board games. Monopoly was particularly good at keeping you out of your parents’ hair for a good 48-36 hours, your developing faith in humanity decreasing steadily by witnessing widespread corruption and embezzlement during bathroom trips and always having to be the effing thimble. (Confession: I actually kind of liked being the thimble.)

Battleship was more for one-on-one play, a guessing game that involved trying to work out your opponent’s ship positioning. The game sadly lacked tequila and Jack Daniels. Until now.

Via Gizmodo comes this gorgeous  ”bar game” version of the rainy day pasttime, Enigma. The game folds neatly up into a carry case that looks like what people used to use to transport LPs. Want!
