Ukraine bans porn…except for medical purposes

The Ukraine Government has banned pornography…except where the porn is prescribed for medical purposes.

Under the law, possession of any pornography (not just hardcore porn) is a criminal offense attracting a fine of roughly $110, or up to 3 years in prison. The production of porn was already illegal in the country.

According to The Register, the problem with the law (like most censorship efforts) comes down to defining what counts as porn. The definition (as translated) reads “”Pornography is vulgar, candid, cynical, obscene depiction of sexual acts, pursuing no other goal, the explicit demonstration of genitals, unethical elements of the sexual act, sexual perversions, realistic sketches that do not meet moral criteria and offend honor and dignity of the human by inciting low instincts.”

Bizarre pink land jellyfish found in Japan

Has a new pink land jellyfish been discovered in Japan? If you believe one video doing the rounds at the moment, the answer is yes.

This video is 99% definitely fake, but the thing that only makes it 99% and not 100% is the why? Why was this made? It’s not a commercial, it’s seemingly not a film, and it’s made to look legit.

This isn’t NSFW…but it sort of is, as the underside of the jelly fish looks like a female body part. You won’t blush red watching it, but a mild warning none the less.

Bizarre TV commercial uses race to sell furniture

Couches perfect for black people…and white people. Beds perfect for white people….and black people. That’s just two lines from a commercial for Red House Furniture that uses race relations as a selling tool.

The ad has caused many to cry racism, despite the message being one of racial equality. The makers of the ad followed up to the criticism, saying that the ad is “racial” and not racist, and that the absurdity of applying racial labels to furniture was making a broader point about racial labeling in general.

Swedish born, UK based artist Tommy Sparks is starting to gain attention with his blend of Fusion, Pop and Alternative music. His music video style however is more 70s retro combined with laser beams, and a large dose of LSD.

Bizarre: New Burger King commercial marries SpongeBob and square butts

A new advertising campaign from Burger King that marries SpongeBob and women with square buts hasn’t been well received in all quarters.

The ad campaign sees The Burger King “King” singing “I love square butts” surrounded by women shaking their square butts in an effort to promote a Burger King Kids Meal that comes with a SpongeBob SquarePants toy. Lyrics include the line “I wanna git wit’cha, cause you’re makin’ me richer.”

Do-gooder groups have come out and accused Burger King off sexualizing children meals. “Nickelodeon and Burger King have partnered to produce a new, highly sexualized, ad for a Burger King SpongeBob SquarePants Kids Meal. It is harmful enough when a beloved media icon advertises junk food to children, but selling Kids Meals by associating a beloved, male character like SpongeBob with lechery shows how little either company cares about the wellbeing of the children they target.” claim the Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood group.

The ad is questionable for a product aimed at children: I’m not making a moral judgment there, only an observation based on pitch, after all little kids who like SpongeBob aren’t exactly going to relate to dancing girls (and yes, I have a 6 year old.) But more than anything is just the sheer bizarre nature of the ad: whacked is the right word.

Project Runway’s Kenley Collins arrested for assault with a deadly cat

Former Project Runway finalist Kenley Collins was arrested Tuesday after assaulting her boyfriend with a cat.

New York City Police say that Kenley tossed the cat, a laptop, a glass of water, and three apples at Zachary Penley during an argument in the couple’s Brooklyn apartment. Penley told police that Collins woke him by tossing the cat in his face, and then later told him “You’re lucky, it could have been worse” which is fair, because she could have thrown a dog

Penley, an artist and musician penned a song called “CAT?” for Collins’ Project Runway finale appearance in Season 5.

Kenley claims the fight was “a miscommunication” and that “there is no case.” There’s no word on the wellbeing of the cat.

Pancake eating champion chokes to death doing what he loves

A Russian man had choked to death on a pancake shortly after winning a pancake eating competition.

The 48-year old Boris Isayev won the competition as part of celebrations for pancake week (Maslenitsa.) The festival celebrates the end of winter and beginning of spring.

According to local media, Isayev won the competition by eating his serve of pancakes the quickesst, but subsequently collapsed when he came on stage to get his prize. The diagnosis: pancakes blocked the man’s airways.

“I guess, you shouldn’t eat that much even for Maslenitsa,” a witness dryly told of The Komsomolskaya Pravda. Still, I can think of worse ways to die.

A Bedouin resident of the Negev managed to complete the inconceivable feat when he stuffed two camels into his car in order to transport them to the West Bank Judea.

The camels’ reality is a lot less funny than the punch line of a joke starting with that same question is meant to be. They are being brought to the West Bank for slaughter, after which their meat will be sold for consumption.

“Once, goods used to be smuggled on camels. Now we are smuggling the camels themselves,” joked Amir Abu Jamma, a resident of Ar’ara who photographed to unusual sight.

Singer M.I.A has denied widespread reports that she has named her child Ickett.

“My baby name is not called Ickitt, Pickit or Lickit, Thank You very much to all the Hollywood Press” M.I.A. said. “He’s a baby, he don’t need press! I didn’t release the baby name because i didn’t think it was news! But I will be back with something newsworthy soon, till then, go pick on apple, satchel and moon unit.”

M.I.A’s son was born February 11, and was the first child for her and fiance, musician Benjamin Bronfman.

Nebraska Court finds God Hypothetical or Fictitious

The Nebraska State Court of Appeals has dismissed a lawsuit filed against God by a former State Senator.

Ernie Chambers sought a permanent injunction against God, saying that he has inspired fear and caused “widespread death, destruction and terrorization of millions.”

The case was originally heard in 2007, where it was chucked out by a County district judge on the grounds that God had not been served court papers. Chambers appealed, arguing that God didn’t need to be served notice, because he’d know about the case.

The Appeals Court overturned the earlier ruling, but chose to dismiss the lawsuit anyway on the basis that the Court cannot “decide abstract questions or hypothetical or fictitious issues.”

According to local reports, Chambers said his lawsuit raises serious issues. Ceiling Cat, god of the universe was unavailable for comment.

Paraplegic Ice Hockey Brawls: more common than you think (video)

Ice hockey is a tough game, and it’s even tougher when you don’t have legs. Paraplegic ice hockey though is a thriving sport, with local and international competitions.

In paraplegic ice hockey, also known as sledge hockey, players sit on a specially-designed sled that allows for maximum movement and control. The set up allows for fast play, although obviously closer to the ground that traditional ice hockey. What is perhaps surprising (or not surprising really) is that this set up also allows for brawls between players.

A sledge hockey game between the United States and Canada turned ugly Wednesday Feb 25 when an American player crashed into the Canadian goalie in the final seconds of Canada’s 2-1 win.

An all in brawl followed, with players throwing punches in a tangle of sleds. Here’s the paraplegic ice hockey brawl video:

Outbreak of child kissing reported in Boise, Idaho

A man has been arrested in Boise, Idaho after kissing two children.

27 year old Netra P. Mishra kissed a five year old boy and 10 year old boy at a local store. Police were called after one mother alerted store security.

Mishra has been charged with first degree kidnapping and battery with intent to commit a felony. He has no criminal record and was not known to police.

Now we know this kissing outbreak is creepy, but kidnapping charges for grabbing and kissing a child, admittedly one that wasn’t his? Bizarre.

Sorry folks, you can’t have a fish pedicure in Florida

Fish lovers will be devastated to learn that you can’t have a fish pedicure in Florida.

The Florida Board of Cosmetology banned the procedure in the state, even though no one was offering it, after some salons had inquired about the legality of introducing fish to their premises.

A fish pedicure involves placing your body part in a pool of water full of fish, and letting the fish eat off the dead parts of your skin on the surface.

Animal cruelty, or illegal aqua fetishes weren’t to blame for the ban. The board cited hygiene as an issue, because there’s no way to disinfect a pool full of fish between uses.

Having “This bike is a pipe bomb” on your bike at an airport: not a great idea

Anyone who lives in the United States, or has visited it knows how tight security can be. Smart people would also know that you don’t make jokes about bombs or hijacking a plane either, no matter what the context.

So having a sticker on your bike at an airport that reads “this bike is a pipe bomb” wouldn’t be a great idea.

Someone who parked their bike at the Memphis airport Monday night did though, and guess what happened next.

According to CNN, a pilot alerted airport police when he saw a bike with the sticker parked near the passenger ramps of Terminal C at Memphis International Airport. The entire terminal was evacuated, and a K-9 unit responded, finding no explosive materials at the scene.

“This Bike is a Pipe Bomb” is the name of a Florida band, and their bumper stickers are an Al-Qaeda terror cell in their own right. Previous sitings of the sticker have closed college campuses, resulted in arrests, and even bikes being blown up by bomb squads.

The owner of the bike was arrested but later released when police found he had committed no crime.

Wife wants divorce over husbands gay affair in Second Life

A British woman is seeking a divorce from her husband after she found out he was having gay sex in Second Life.

Lisa Best caught husband John late one evening “having gay dungeon romps” in Second Life on his laptop….in bed….next to her while she slept.

“I saw John’s little person having it off with another man in a dungeon on the screen,” Lisa told the News of the World.

“I just froze with my head on the pillow, silently watching what he was doing. I felt sick to my stomach.

“After a few minutes, I could bear it no longer and sat up in bed demanding to know what the hell he was doing. He quickly folded the damn machine shut. I went off the dial but John just brushed it away. He said it wasn’t real life so what was I doing my nut about?”

“I couldn’t sleep a wink the rest of the night wondering whether this meant he was betraying me or not—that he’d rather have gay sex on Second Life than have sex with me.”

John told the paper he wasn’t gay: “I was just messing about on there. I’m the world’s least gay man. There’s not a gay bone in my body,” despite sending screenshots to himself from in Second Life of his avatar sharing in some man on man loving.

“I just found it funny. I only went on for a laugh. I can’t believe it’s ended up destroying my marriage,” said John.

Draft Stormy! That’s what a group of porn star Stormy Daniel’s fans is trying to do in Louisiana.

The Draft Stormy website claims that

“A Storm that’s gonna sweep Louisiana clean of corrupt politicians once and for all! And that Storm’s name is Stormy. Stormy Daniels.

Stormy Daniels: Honesty, passion and strength of character. These are the traits Louisiana needs in a Senator at this crucial time. And honesty, passion and strength is what is this Storm is all about.”

Stormy Daniels says she doesn’t have anything to do with the website, but didn’t rule out running, saying that she would make the current Senators “contradictory behavior” the center of her campaign.

Existing Senator David Vitter was named in July 2007 as a client of “D.C. Madam” Deborah Jeane Palfrey’s prostitution service in Washington, D.C.

Brazilian court rules TV is an essential good

A court in Brazil has awarded damages to a man on the basis that television is an essential good.

The man had taken Casas Bahia, Brazil’s largest appliance chain to court for moral damages after the company refused to replace his faulty television set.

Reuters reports that judge ruled that television was an “essential good” needed to watch soccer and a popular reality TV show. “In modern life, you cannot deny that a television set, present in almost all homes, is considered an essential good. Without it, how can the owner watch the beautiful women on ‘Big Brother,’ the national news broadcast or a football game,” the judge said.
