Len Wiseman’s remake of the Arnold Schwarzenegger classic Total Recall is shaping up nicely with Bill Nighy being added to the movies cast of characters. Already signed on for the film are Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Biel, Bryan Cranston and a cameo by Ethan Hawke.

Bill Nighy is said to be in contract negotiation for the role with the movie beginning principal photography in Toronto this June.

Nighy will be playing the role of Quatto, the leader of the resistance.

According to LatinoReview in the remake the movie focuses on:

“The nation states Euromerica and New Shanghai, with Douglas Quaid (Farrell) who is a factory worker in the latter who begins to believe he is a spy — although he doesn’t know for which side.”

Perennial favorite Astro Boy is back with a new movie due out late 2009.

The official synopsis: “Set in futuristic Metro City, Imagi Studios’ “Astro Boy” is about a young robot with incredible powers created by a brilliant scientist to replace the son he has lost. Unable to fulfill the grieving father’s expectations, our hero embarks on a journey in search of acceptance, experiencing betrayal and a netherworld of robot gladiators, before he returns to save Metro City and reconcile with the man who had rejected him.”

The voice talent for the Astro Boy movie is A-List: Nicolas Cage, Kristen Bell, Donald Sutherland, Nathan Lane, Bill Nighy, Eugene Levy, Matt Lucas and Freddie Highmore.

The final trailer for the upcoming Tom Cruise movie Valkyrie has been released.

The movie is based on the true story on the 20 July plot of German officers against Adolf Hitler and also stars Kenneth Branagh, Bill Nighy, Tom Wilkinson, Carice van Houten, Thomas Kretschmann, Eddie Izzard, Christian Berkel and Terence Stamp.

Valkyrie is set to hit the big screen late December in the US, and early next year everywhere else. As I said when we covered the last trailer, I’m not a Tom Cruise fan, but this is a movie I’ll be paying to see.
