ABC News is reporting that a group of high school students on class project in the Idaho wilderness may have captured video footage of the legendary missing link Bigfoot.

According to the report, the students — who wished to remain anonymous — were on a school project near the west fork of Mink Creek south of Pocatello, Id. when they say they spotted a dark figure watching them from a ridge above.

One quick-thinking student grabbed his camera and caught a short video clip of the mysterious creature.

“It just didn’t look humanlike. I don’t know what that is, it’s not a bear, it’s not a moose or anything. It was big and bulky and black,” the student said.

The students also claim to have pictures of the beast’s ginormous foot prints.

While some folks have already disregarded the Idaho Bigfoot footage as a hoax, ISU professor and Sasquatch expert, Jeff Meldrum, has examined the photos and the short video captured by the students and said that it may be real.

“It nevertheless is a large dark figure that bears a striking resemblance to descriptions of Sasquatch,” Meldrum said.

Meldrum added that while the majority of people associate Bigfoot with the Pacific Northwest and British Columbia, there’s a long history of Sasquatch lore in the Intermountain West and Idaho, though with different names.

“The notion of the immigrants coming into this place here and encountering strange and marvelous things like stories of wild men and mountain devils,” he said.

Interestingly enough, this year’s Idaho Bigfoot sighting comes almost a year to the day after a woman in Spokane, Washington accidentally captured alleged footage of Sasquatch on her iPhone while hiking through a wooded area.
