Raunchy Swedish Bible not well received State Side

A Swedish version of the bible released in the United States hasn’t been well received: apparently religious types don’t like pictures of men kissing.

The Book, a modern take on the bible has resulted in protests from religious groups and creator Dag Söderberg receiving hate mail and death threats.

Pictures in The Book include Swedish model Victoria Silverstedt, burning men, and a photograph of two men making out.

The Book was released in Sweden in 2007 without a similar reaction, according to local press reports.

The Book is sold in the United States under the name Bible Illuminated: The Book. Buyers are invited to “bring a fresh perspective to our history and culture to a coffee table near you.” A new edition, minus the controversial pictures is currently being printed.

Doesn’t work, March 21, 2008

This book doesn’t work. I’ve tried the “praying” method to get a new Porsche 996 delivered but to no avail. There’s nothing in the instructions about not wanting German sports cars but I tried praying for less ambitious things. I gave up when it didn’t even get me a Big Mac. In the early part there’s a bit about people crossing the desert and being sustained by manna from heaven, so you’d think that it would be able to manage at least a hamburger.

I’m disappointed and will contact the publisher. In the meantime I can’t recommend this book as it is clearly faulty.

The comment thread is worth reading as as well. One highlight:

Prayer is the wrong method. You would have a lot more success by stealing the Porsche and then asking God for forgiveness.

What Are Pterosaurs? Well according to Objective Ministries, Pterosaurs are flying reptiles with leathery or membranous wings attached to the sides of their bodies and supported by an elongated fourth digit on their forelimbs. They were created by the Lord on the fifth day of His Creation Week (Genesis 1:20-22) and were a constant presence in the skies over Eden, where they peacefully ate fruit and plants.

But if you thought Pterosaurs died out millions of years ago…or 4,000 years ago depending on your own view of the world, Objective Ministries presents proof, claiming that these flying dinosaurs were still flying around North America well into the 19th century.

The blog makes no comment in relation to the validity or otherwise of Objective Ministries claims…we just like the pictures.
