Director Laura Greenfield spoke to Reuters about the movie, explaining that:

“They do take on this everyman quality that ends up putting them nearer to us in terms of the overreaching of America and downsizing and getting back to core values.”

On the other hand, David Siegel has sued the filmmakers and Sundance for defamation so it’s not all going as smoothly as it may first appear.

All in all, there are over 100 movies showing in 10 days, giving filmgoers plenty of choice on what to watch, as well as lots of options for buyers. Bigger movies causing a buzz include “Red Hook Summer,” directed by Spike Lee, “Red Lights” which stars Cillian Murphy, Sigourney Weaver and Robert De Niro, “Lay The Favorite” with Rebecca Hall, Bruce Willis and Catherine Zeta-Jones, and “Bachelorette” with Kirsten Dunst.

Sundance is also making an important step towards embracing distribution for filmmakers. The internet is becoming more and more vital for independent filmmakers to get their name out there and to have their work seen and appreciated by a wider and bigger audience. Robert Redford stated:

“It’s pretty obvious we are in a period of tremendous change. We embrace it.”

With The Sundance Film Festival embracing technology, the future is starting to look more promising for independents.

Roberto Martinez says his wedding to Bachelorette fiancé Ali Fedotowsky was called off in July because of a sports injury she suffered and that it was him who called off the wedding, despite reports to the contrary.

According to Martinez she was injured in a Petaluma kickboxing exhibition where she broke her femur, sprained her tibia, contorted her clavicle, bruised her belly button and fractured her uvula.

Martinez opened up to Bedroom Pillow Talk about the reason for the called off wedding, saying he didn’t want Ali to walk down the aisle on crutches or be pushed down the aisle in a wheel chair in her wedding dress while pictures were taken of her beat up, bruised body.

According to Martinez Ali said she didn’t care how she looked, she just wanted to marry him, yet the wedding was cancelled.

Roberto also told Pillow Talk that tabloid’s Say What and Just Saying were completely incorrect in their reporting that he was dumped, the tabloids posted a photo of Fedotowsky showing him her middle finger, while a caption read:

The Bachelorette tells her fiance that there won’t be any wedding bells ringing after all.

Roberto said she was simply showing off her new nail polish and asking if he liked it, he later had to explain to his 89-year-old maternal grandmother Paloma Pescadero that his fiancé wasn’t being disrespectful towards him.

While the wedding of Roberto Martinez and Ali Fedotowsky may have been cancelled, given the nature of the reality TV shows constant gossip I doubt this is the last we’ll hear from Roberto and Ali. Who’s story do you believe to be true?

On the season finale of the popular reality dating show The Bachelorette, the titular groom-seeker Ashley Hebert selected JP Rosenbaum as her fiance.

However, the selection was against the advice of her sister, Chrystie Corns. Corns- no stranger to the world of reality programming, having appeared on the first season of TLC’s Extreme Couponing- originally said on The Bachelorette that she did not feel Rosenbaum was an appropriate match for her sister Ashley.

Corns said after watching the series unfold, she’s revised her original assessment of her sister’s selection. She said she felt badly after viewing the episodes:

“I made a big mistake… As I started watching the season, however, it’s very clear to me that J.P. was the one. He was the best choice… I’m totally apologetic, I feel like a jerk — I want to make it up to him but he won’t let me forget it… J.P. says if he has anything to do with it I’m going to have to fight for the right to be maid of honor.”

Every reality show has a bad boy, but it’s safe to say that Bentley Williams, from this season’s The Bachelorette, is the crème de la crème. According to the show’s host Chris Harrison,

“He (Williams) almost shut down production on the show.”

As posted previously, Bentley was begged to stay by “Bachelorette” Ashley Herbert, despite his apparent non attraction to her.

“She’s fallen for this guy, and she’ll even talk on Monday night how she’s fallen in love with this guy,” said Harrison. “He was easily the front-runner.”

On upcoming episode 3 however, Bentley makes his departure from the show and ends up hurting Ashley so bad that she nearly opts out of the rest of the season.

“How it happens, how this goes down, will be one of the most talked about moments we have ever had on this show,” promised Harrison.

The obvious question to be asked is, why cast Bentley when it was clear that his intentions were malicious? Does the show value ratings over a woman’s dignity? According to Harrison this was not the case:

He obviously didn’t say all those derogatory things in casting. He might have said, “It would be cool if it was Emily.” He obviously didn’t say, “If it’s Ashley, I’m going to use and destroy her.”

Chris went on to reveal that they even gave Ashley subtle warnings to let her know that Williams was not to be trusted. It was ultimately her decision however that kept Bentley on the show for as long as he stayed.

If you have information about a guy before he even gets out of the limo, that’s beyond a red flag. We gave her the option and said, “You don’t have to meet this guy. We can pull him.” We justify everything by giving Ashley the power. It was her job to say no. We don’t step in and say, “That’s the wrong decision.” We never do. She was privy to some of the information. I had many conversations with her about this and so did the producers but she defended him every step of the way. She never heeded any of the warning signs.

‘Bachelorettes’ Bentley Nearly Ends Show’s Season is a post from: The Inquisitr

A new record time for a break up following a contrived TV matchmaking/ wedding show? If news it correct, we might have that new record as Bachelorette’s Jillian Harris is reported to have dumped fiance Ed Swiderski.

According to reports, a source “very close to the situation” has confirmed the split and that Swiderski’s relationships with two other women led to the break up. Harris was due to have had dinner with Ed at the Palazzo Resort in Las Vegas, but instead delivered the news before the paid got to eat.

US Weekly claimed earlier in the week that Ed Swiderski slept with former girlfriend Lindsey Johnson, and hit on another ex-girlfriend, Bethany Steffen, after he proposed to Jillian Harris. Swiderski denied the claims, as did Harris on TV.

Bachelorette DeAnna Pappas and fiance Jesse Csinscak have called off their engagement.

The couple “tearfully and lovingly” got engaged in front of an audience of millions in the season finale of The Bachelorette 4 months ago, and were due to marry May 9, 2009.

InTouch has the exclusive interview with DeAnna, who tells the gossip mag that “I really felt like I was going to spend the rest of my life with him. I thought he was my fairy-tale ending…But after the show was over and we settled in to our normal lives, I slowly came to realize that we are two totally different people and it wasn’t going to work out.”

DeAnna still believes in love though: “I still believe in love. More than anything, I want to find someone I can spend the rest of my life with.”
