Anne Hathaway spent some time on Saturday night to celebrate her engagement to fiancé Adam Shulman as the 29-year-old actress celebrated her upcoming marriage.

The party wasn’t by any means a small time event with 125-people in attendance at the Housing Works Bookstore Café in downtown Manhattan.

Unlike many Hollywood type parties Hathaway strayed away from inviting Hollywood’s elite and instead only asked family and friends to attend the engagement party.

The lack of celebrity guests doesn’t really surprise us, unlike many Hollywood pairings that seem “made for photos” Hathaway truly seems smitten with her beau, stating in November “we hit if off immediately” while adding that she is “very much in love with him.”

Without her normal “insiders” in attendance details about the actresses engagement party are pretty sparse.

Much of the public’s focus on 2012′s The Dark Knight Rises has been directed towards the absurdly bulky villain Bane, but he’s only one of several to make an appearance in the movie, including the infamously morally ambiguous Catwoman.

Anne Hathaway, as you may recall, was cast to play Catwoman in the movie, and she said in a recent interview that she looked back in time – back to the source – for inspiration for her portrayal of the character in The Dark Knight Rises.

Bob Kane, the creator of the Batman comics, once said that the late actress Hedy Lamarr was the primary source of inspiration for the Catwoman character, and that’s exactly who Hathaway is drawing inspiration from herself. She says she’s taking into account Lemarr’s mannerisms, even down to her “extraordinary” breathing.

“I know this sounds odd, but her breathing is extraordinary,” Anne Hathaway said of the late actress Lamarr in an interview with the LA Times. “She takes these long, deep, languid breaths and exhales slowly. There’s a shot of her in [the 1933 film] Ecstasy exhaling a cigarette and I took probably five breaths during her one exhale. So I started working on my breathing a lot.”

Hathaway will be following in the footsteps of the likes of Halle Berry, Michelle Pfeiffer, Julie Newmar, but she says she’s not letting past portrayals of Catwoman affect her performance in The Dark Knight Rises.

“What’s come before doesn’t limit or even affect this new version,” Hathaway said. “It doesn’t affect me because each Catwoman – and this is true in the comics as well – she is defined by the context of the Gotham City created around her. Catwoman is so influenced by Gotham and whoever is creating Gotham at the time. Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman was informed by Tim Burton’s Gotham and Eartha Kitt was informed by Adam West’s Gotham. You have to live in whatever the reality of the world is and whatever Gotham is.”

Producers who want to make a lot of money off of their movie could spend money on talented writers. They could hire a big name director or pour money into special effects. But if they’re looking to get the most bang for their buck, they should hire Kristen Stewart.

Kristen Stewart topped Forbes list for Hollywood’s Best Actors for the Buck. For every $1 Stewart is paid she brings in $55.83.

Fox reports that the list looked at actor’s salaries and box office performance for films from the last three years. Stewart, of course, has the money-making Twilight franchise in her corner, which just scored the third highest opening day in history last month.

Anne Hathaway took the number two spot on the list. Hathaway’s helped Alice in Wonderland make millions in 2010, while other movies like Love and Other Drugs and Bride Wars kept her from the number one spot. Hathaway is about to release The Dark Knight Rises so there’s a good chance she could top the list in 2012.

Robert Pattinson took the third spot on the list, again, thanks to Twilight, before Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe.

Anne Hathaway is engaged! The actress, who will be playing Catwoman in “The Dark Knight Rises,” is now engaged to her longtime boyfriend Adam Shulman.

US Reports that the Oscar Nominated actress has been spotted recently wearing an engagement ring. Hathaway’s rep confirmed the engagement and said that the ring was designed by Kwiat Heritage.

People Magazine reports that Shulman was initially Hathaway’s rebound after she broke-up with Raffaello Follieri, who pled guilty to 14 counts of money laundering, conspiracy and wire fraud, in 2008.

Hathaway said:

“I am very much in love with him, [only] Adam totally ruined my plan. I was really actually looking forward to a little alone time, and then I fell in love like a fool!”

Hathaway describes Shulman, also an actor, as mellow. Hathaway said:

“So far, it’s worked out great… Mellow doesn’t always make for a good story, but it makes for a good life.”

According to IMDB, Shulman has appeared in “The West Wing,” and “The Dukes of Hazzard” made for TV movie. His last acting credit is from 2008 so he may have given up the acting game.

The 28-year-old brunette, who originally made a name for herself by playing the good girl in family films Princess Diaries and Ella Enchanted and later showed her grown up side by staring in the controversial 2005 drama Havoc, recently revealed that she has been hiding one skill in particular – rapping.

Last night, during her appearance on the Conan show, Hathaway got to show off that unique skill-set when O’Brien asked her:

“I’ve heard that occasionally . . . you get angry about something that’s happened to you, either at work or in your private life and you like to vent it through songwriting. Is that right?”

In a girlish, composed voice Anne responded:

“With all the stuff that’s been going on with Batman, the paparazzi attention’s been a little intense. So I actually wrote a rap song about it. It’s in the style of Lil Wayne.”

Some of the lyrical magnificence that Hathaway followed with includes:

“Yo I’m a paparazzi, I don’t play no Yahtzee/ I go POP POP POP POP POP, my cameras up your crotch-see…”

Anne Hathaway and her Catwomen outfit for the upcoming The Dark Night Rises (Batman) movie were revealed this week by Warner Bros. The outfit was inspired by a Dwayne Cooke / Ed Brubaker digital age concept (tactical goggles) and also shows a bit of  inspired design from the 1960s Batman series outfit.

I for one am glad to see a design that doesn’t look so “cartoon based” as the last catwoman designs, plus it never hurts to see Hathaway wrapped in leather riding any type of machinery.

It’s still unclear why Catwoman is riding the Bat-Pod or why her outfit has finally arrived with the times while the Bat-Pod looks like a relic of the first Batman movies, in any situation it’s still neat to see official on-set photos provided by Warner Bros.

The movie is a dramatic departure for Hathaway whose many movies include family offerings (Princess Diaries, Ella Enchanted, Alice In Wonderland) although recently she has taken on more “adult oriented” roles including Love and Other Drugs where she starred next to Jake Gyllenhaal and Family Guy where she voiced “Hot Blonde” and “Mother Maggie” in three episodes.

A spa owner with a former client list including Liv Tyler, Jennifer Aniston, Cher, Anne Hathaway and Melanie Griffith is set to appear in federal court today on charges stemming from the unauthorized use of clients’ credit cards.

Owner of Chez Gabriela Studio Maria Gabriela Perez is said to have hit Tyler the hardest, with fradulent charges of $214,000. (But when a basic facial costs $3,500, an iffy six figure sum seems a little less bold.) Assistant U.S. Attorney Wesley Hu said the scam was pretty simple:

“After the clients had legitimate services performed at the salon where they ran credit cards, she kept the credit card information and then ran unauthorized charges on the credit cards.”

Jennifer Aniston was interviewed this morning about her dealings with the spa, and said that she stopped patronizing Perez’s establishment a few years back but declined to elaborate on the circumstances:

Aniston said today on “Good Morning America” that she stopped going to Perez’ studio about five years ago.

“We had a situation that was not cool,” Aniston said. “So I stopped going to her. Paid her the money and left.

“I knew something like this would eventually happen.”

Perez faces up to 25 years in jail if convicted.

The drama is sort of nice after an overload of Perez’s non-stop “Saint Angie” stuff, but it’s up to you to decide whether or not Angelina deserved the criticism. The video of Anne’s speech is below; 1:10, 1:40, and 3:42 are the critical points of potential Angelina staring moments. Stink eye/death stare or just make-believe drama?

If we’re going to tally votes, E! says stink eye, claiming that “While Anne stuttered through a rambling acceptance speech highlighting her fellow “celluloid sisters” (which is a considerable improvement from her “process metaphysics” lecture earlier this week), Angelina made no attempt to hide her disdain, and we love her for it.” FOX, on the other hand, says “steamed.” Same difference.

The website for the Golden Globes revealed Anne Hathaway as the winner of the Best Actress category Thursday, 4 days before the Awards Ceremony.

The alleged error was quickly removed, but not before half the world heard about it.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has so far not commented on the issue.

Sometimes bad things happen to good people, but at least Anne Hathaway’s got a support system. According to her recent interview with W, she’s taking the whole my-ex-boyfriend-isnt-exactly-what-I-expected thing in stride. She had better keep that up, because Raffaello Follieri was sentenced to four years in prison for conspiracy, money laundering, and wire fraud today.

“I have to find a place to live. [...] It’s a situation where the rug was pulled out from under me all of a sudden. But just as suddenly, my friends threw another rug back under me. One said, ‘Go stay at my house.’ And Steve Carell [her Get Smart costar] stepped up for me during an interview when someone asked a question [about it]. He said, ‘At some point you’re going to have to talk about this time in your life. You don’t have to do it this week. I’ll take care of anything that comes your way.’”

The questions are far from over, given today’s nasty turn. Good thing Anne’s stepping out of the spotlight a bit as a production assistant for a Bob Marley biopic– she’ll need a break now.

Anne Hathaway Opens Up About Raffaello (Who Is Jail-Bound) is a post from: The Inquisitr

… like not recording all her personal details in journals. What if somebody found them and spilled all the details onto the internet? However, that’s almost preferable to the mess she’s potentially facing.

While we were hoping that Anne had ducked out of ex-boyfriend Raffaello Follieri’s problems in the nick of time, it looks like she’ll be more “involved” now that the FBI have gotten its hot hands on her personal diaries. According to the New York Daily News:

“The agents confiscated the intimate diaries of the “Devil Wears Prada” star during another raid on Follieri’s $37,500-a-month Trump Tower pad, according to the sources. [...] Also confiscated were documents, watches, a Tiffany clock, an antique Bible and personal photos of Follieri and Hathaway.”

I’m assuming that all these items make sense, but it seems pretty hodge-podge to me. Since Raffaello was in a $37,500 per month apartment, there’s got to be some other vital stuff to “bolster the case” hanging about. Unless it’s, you know, somewhere else.

Raffaello Follieri has continued his scuzzy ways, thankfully without embarrassing his (now ex) girlfriend Anne Hathaway. She so did not need this during her press rounds for Get Smart, especially considering her close call just this week.

Maybe having a con-artist boyfriend (excuse me, ex) would be a little hot if he weren’t so bad at it: Follieri was arrested today on suspicion of operating a fradulent real estate scheme that he claimed was somehow related to the Vatican. The charges? Wire fraud, money laundering, and conspiracy in Manhattan Federal Court. Here’s more:

The complaint contends Follieri got millions of dollars in investment money from a private equity firm based on his misrepresentations that he had close connections with the Vatican that enabled him to buy the Catholic Church’s unwanted U.S. real estate properties at a discount.

Instead, Follieri and others used the investors’ money for expensive clothes and restaurant meals, a $37,000-a-month Manhattan apartment, dog-walking services and other personal expenditures including medical expenses for his girlfriend at the time, according to the complaint.

Follieri is currently being held on $21 million bail and will remain on house arrest if he does pay it out. I’d say that Anne got out while the getting was good, wouldn’t you?

I think that a lot of us (well, me and all my friends at least) were rooting for Anne Hathaway to break up with her ever-so-shady boyfriend Raffaello Follieri.

Raffaello, of the fabulous check-bouncing abilities, was sued by a former business associate earlier this year, and as if that’s not enough to make any girl think twice, it was announced last week that the Follieri Foundation is facing investigation by the New York State Attorney General’s Office. Anne (not too surprisingly) appeared on the red carpet sans-boyfriend yesterday for the “Get Smart” premiere. An insider revealed:

“It’s heartbreaking for her to dump him and she’s devastated that it’s come to this, but she really didn’t have a choice. His scandals were hurting her reputation.”

Do you think the lesbian rumors will start up again? Maybe we can take a break from Lindsay Lohan for a while.
