So Heidi Klum went shopping with bodyguard-turned-boyfriend Martin Kristen on Tuesday in a very public outing that quieted some of the rumors flying around that the good-looking couple might be in trouble.

As I reported yesterday, Heidi Klum and Kristen apparently had an hour-long public fight at The Spotted Pig in New York City on Sunday night. Reportedly fueled more by alcohol than by any serious problem in the relationship, the spat apparently came to an abrupt end when Kristen removed himself from the scene.

The story may have been one of those tales that gets better as it gets repeated, because it did have a few elements that makes the skeptical reader wonder if it could have happened just the way that the unnamed sources described — especially a twice-repeated claim that Heidi Klum herself couldn’t find a cab when she stomped out of the restaurant in a huff.

Whatever happened or didn’t happen this weekend, Heidi Klum seemed to be in great spirits as she was photographed out and about on Tuesday with Kristen hauling her bags or just strolling alongside her on busy NYC streets.

She also had plenty of time to post encouraging tweets urging her fans to catch last night’s episode of NBC’s America’s Got Talent auditions in New Orleans and San Antonio.

Heidi Klum is ready to move beyond her judging days on Project Runway, but isn’t straying too far in the reality television world.

The supermodel and fashion icon made her debut on the revamped judges’ panel on season 8 of NBC’s America’s Got Talent, albeit to tepid reviews.

The departure of longtime judge Sharon Osbourne after a dispute with NBC led the way for Heidi Klum to join the show along with former Spice Girl Mel B.

The two join returning judges Howard Stern and Howie Mandel, but the opening episode of America’s Got Talent came with mixed reviews.

“In Tuesday’s two-hour premiere, this new group seemed diluted – more like a conscientious committee,” People magazine noted. “The circus craziness was diminished, despite acts that included a snake trainer who blew up a balloon and then goaded a rattlesnake into popping the balloon with its fangs.

“A talent show ideally requires a show-bizzy, even cheesy energy and personality so vivid it doesn’t matter if it also happens to be vulgar – this goes for not just the contestants, but for the judges. Klum does not bring that to the table.”

Heidi Klum isn’t the only one looking for a fresh start on America’s Got Talent. Mel B is joining the show after a contract dispute kept her from a commitment to appear on Australia’s Got Talent.

Mel has already appeared on on The X Factor in the UK and Australia, but a breach of contract between two Australian television networks kept her from appearing on Australia’s Got Talent.

When she got the chance for a stint on America’s Got Talent, Mel B jumped at the chance.

“I got the phone call and got offered the job and was like, ‘Yeah!’ I love this show, and of course the fact that it’s now in New York at Radio City Music Hall — that’s a legendary place that makes the show even more exciting,” she told Hollywood Reporter. “It’s a great family show, and people love watching it. I’ve watched for many years; I sit down with my kids and watch it. It’s nice to be a part of it.”

Anna Christine’s Got Talent should be the new name of America’s Got Talent after the 10-year-old dropped jaws, melted hearts, and tickled ears during the season premiere.

To put it bluntly, the young crooner brought down the house last night during a performance on the show, impressing judges and viewers alike with a surprising rendition of the Animals’ “House of the Rising Sun.”

The sweet, innocent looking Christine with blonde hair and pixie smile jumped up to the piano and proved once and for all that you can’t really judge a book by its cover. Like, ever.

Anna Christine is definitely a performer to be reckoned with, and watch this coming season. Howard Stern and Howie Mandel pushed her through to the next round without hesitation, along with new judges Heidi Klum and Mel B.

Speechless after the young girl’s performance, all they could do was approve her advancement with Mandel saying that they’ve found their superstar for the season.

Mel B also complimented Christine, saying that she had a depth which cannot be taught.

Of course, it’s only the very first episode of this season, so we can’t say for sure that the competition is cinched for the pint-sized songstress just yet.

But we’re keeping our eye on her, for sure. Seems like you are, too:

Mel B didn’t have a great go-round with Australia’s Got Talent.

In fact, the former Spice Girl was banned from the show after a judge ruled she was in breach of contract for work with another network. But Talent fans now have a chance to see Mel B, who is signed on as a judge in this summer’s season of America’s Got Talent.

She joins Heidi Klum and returning judges Howie Mandel and Howard Stern on season eight of the reality show, which has relocated to New York’s Radio City Music Hall.

Mel B said she ‘s looking forward to the opportunity.

“I got the phone call and got offered the job and was like, ‘Yeah!’ I love this show, and of course the fact that it’s now in New York at Radio City Music Hall — that’s a legendary place that makes the show even more exciting,” she told Hollywood Reporter. “It’s a great family show, and people love watching it. I’ve watched for many years; I sit down with my kids and watch it. It’s nice to be a part of it.”

Mel has already been a judge on The X Factor in the UK and Australia, but said this show will be different because she doesn’t know what to expect next.

“Someone comes on the stage and all of a sudden there’s a snake around their neck or they’re putting a sword down their throat,” she said. “Then there’s also singing and dancing. It’s truly a proper variety show, and anything can happen. It’s like experiencing a roller-coaster ride, everyone is so different, but thoroughly enjoyable.”

She said she plans on evaluating all acts equally, and is hoping to see some good talent.

“I don’t think I have a style of judging. I’m just very, very honest. That’s it,” she said. “When you watch the show, you can judge my judging for yourself, but I’m just honest. At the end of the day, whether it’s a magic act or a dancing act or a singing act, if I want to buy tickets to come see your show, I’m going to like it. As long as you’re professional and entertaining, I appreciate that.

Mel B was banned from the Australian version of Talent over a dispute between rival networks. The former Scary Spice was working for the Seven Network and scheduled to appear on an Australian version of The X Factor, but at the same time signed on to Channel Nine’s Australia’s Got Talent.

Seven Network took Mel B to court for breach on contract, winning an injunction and banning her from Australia’s Got Talent.

Justice David Hammerschlag ruled: “Under the agreement, Mel has an obligation to provide her exclusive services to Seven, and Seven is entitled to her performance of this obligation. I see no reason why she should not be ordered to keep her word that she would not work for anyone but Seven in Australia in 2013.”

Mel B makes her debut on America’s Got Talent on July 23.

Entertainer Mel B was booed during her first turn as a judge on the hit show America’s Got Talent.

The singer was on hand for the show’s first round of auditions in New Orleans when the audience vocalized its emphatic disapproval of her opinion regarding the performance of a local brass band.

According to an article by TMZ, the first act to take the stage was a popular New Orleans brass band by the name of Lagniappe. Following their performance, Mel B reportedly expressed to the group that she does not care for brass music.

The New Orleans crowd roared its disagreement as Mel B was booed and screamed at for her musical assessment of the hometown band. The audience reportedly screamed “no respect” at the Spice Girls group member, shouting at her to “go home.”

Mel B, was recently added to the judging panel on NBC’s America’s Got Talent, which includes Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel, and Howard Stern. She was brought on board to replace Sharon Osbourne, who recently departed the successful show.

As previously reported in The Inquisitr, the singer, born Melanie Janine Brown, has previous experience judging talent for television. She was part of the panel for the Australian version of X Factor and made guest appearances on the UK version of the show. She also popped up as a guest judge on Britain’s Next Top Model.

Paul Telegdy, president of alternative television at NBC, has stated that Mel B’s outspoken personality was precisely why he felt she would be a good fit for America’s Got Talent:

“To know her is to know a very frank, strong, enduring entertainer. Someone who has a very strong point of view. We needed somebody who was qualified for the job. She’s an amazing singer, dancer and a huge personality. The contestants will get a lot of constructive feedback from her and I can’t wait to see her chemistry with Howard and Howie.”

Model and television starlet Heidi Klum is also a recent addition to the America’s Got Talent group of judges. She was reportedly added during last minute negotiations mere days before her flight to the season’s first taping in New Orleans.

Goodbye Sharon Osbourne, hello Heidi Klum. NBChas reportedly signed the beautiful model to join the judges panel on America’s Got Talent.

Sharon Osbourne left the judge’s panel last year but NBC hasn’t had a hard time filling her seat. Spice Girl Mel B has already joined the show and now it appears that Klum will also be sitting down next to Howie Mandel and Howard Stern.

According to TMZ, NBC signed Heidi to the show in a last minute deal this weekend. Klum reportedly hopped on a plane today and flew to New Orleans where America’s Got Talent will soon start filming the first round of auditions.

As added proof, the gossip site was able to take a picture on the AGT set. The photo shows the name “Heidi” written below one of the judge’s “X” symbols. (You can see the photo here.)

NBC has not confirmed the rumor yet.

After Mel B was hired last month NBC president of alternative Paul Telegdy said that it was possible for a fourth judge to come to America’s Got Talent but that the show would only expand the judge’s panel for “the right person.”

America’s Got Talent has reportedly added “Scary Spice” Mel B. to its panel of judges.

The Spice Girls singer will fill the vacancy left by Sharon Osbourne after she parted ways with the show last year. According to Entertainment Weekly, she will join Howie Mandel and Howard Stern on the next season of NBC’s popular televised competition.

NBC’s Paul Telegdy said he was impressed with Melanie Brown while watching her compete on Dancing with the Stars.

He said in a statement:

“To know her is to know a very frank, strong, enduring entertainer. Someone who has a very strong point of view. We needed somebody who was qualified for the job. She’s an amazing singer, dancer and a huge personality. The contestants will get a lot of constructive feedback from her and I can’t wait to see her chemistry with Howard and Howie.”

Mel B. may not be the only addition to America’s Got Talent this season. The network also stated that it is currently considering adding a fourth judge to the panel. However, an official decision on the matter hasn’t been made just yet.

“Scary Spice” has plenty of experience on this sort of television program. CNN explains that Brown previously served as a judge on the Australian version of X Factor. The singer was also made guest appearances on the UK editions of X Factor and Britain’s Next Top Model.

The Inquisitr previously reported that Sharon Osbourne decided to leave America’s Got Talent last August. Osbourne said in an interview that her decision to leave the show was based on ABC’s treatment of her son prior to filming Stars Earn Stripes.

Although Jack Osbourne was slated to appear on the reality show, Sharon says the network cut him loose after learning he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

Howard Stern has reportedly signed on for another year with the popular television series America’s Got Talent, according to the New York Times.

For a while it was unclear if the shock jock would return for another year on the televised talent show. However, NBC has put speculation to rest by announcing that Stern will return for at least one more season.

Although Howard didn’t prove the large boost in ratings the network was hoping for, executives explained that the addition of Stern ultimately kept the series afloat. This may explain why NBC was interested in getting him back for another go-around.

Deadline reports that some celebrities have openly criticized Stern’s involvement with such a mainstream program. Kid Rock and other critics have slammed the controversial disc jockey for essentially “selling out” by signing on for America’s Got Talent.

Despite the backlash Stern received when he first agreed to take part in the TV show, the shock jock is returning for yet another season. If these criticisms ruffled his feathers, then it really isn’t affecting his decision to return.

According to Newsday, Stern seems quite excited about his deal with America’s Got Talent.

“I’m very, very excited, honestly, about going back to America’s Got Talent,” he explained. “”I’m very excited to be working again with [executive producer] Simon Cowell and NBC and all the various folks who work there.”

“I think that’s great, because I certainly enjoy you on the show,” said Stern’s partner in crime Robin Quivers.

As of this writing, it’s unclear who will replace Sharon Osbourne next season. Since she has been extremely vocal about not returning, chances are the network will have to find someone to take her place.

“Howard Stern Returning to ‘America’s Got Talent’. I want to be a judge with him. We would tear it up,” said Today Show veteran Al Roker.

America’s Got Talent is reportedly eyeing Carly Simon, Leann Rimes, and Shannen Doherty to fill the vacancy left by Sharon Osbourne, according to TMZ.

Since producers are looking for a strong, opinionated woman to fill the void left by Osbourne’s departure, the fact that Simon, Rimes, and Doherty are being courted for the job makes perfect sense. Of course, none of this information has been confirmed on an official level as of this writing.

The Daily Mail reports that big changes are apparently in store for producer Simon Cowell’s televised talent competition. As season seven drew to a close, the program experienced a decline in ratings. In order to keep people interested, producers are headed back to the drawing board.

“AGT is massively successful, but every TV show needs a refresh to make it the best it can be,” an anonymous source told the website.

To make matters worse for producers, Howard Stern recently stated that he’s unsure if he will return for another season of America’s Got Talent. Fellow judge Howie Mandel has remained tight-lipped as to whether or not he’s signed on for another round.

According to the Examiner, the person selected to replace Sharon Osbourne will be determined once Stern has made a decision regarding next season. What’s more, producers haven’t entirely ruled out adding a fourth judge to the show.

While nothing has been set in stone just yet, it has been confirmed that Simon Cowell’s current girlfriend Carmen Electra will not join Stern and Mandel at the judge’s table.

Just a few weeks ago, rumors were swirling that Sharon Osbourne was parting ways with NBC’s televised competition “America’s Got Talent”. At the time these allegations started popping up, fellow AGT judge Howard Stern suggested the reason for Sharon’s departure was purely financial. However, it would seem Osbourne has a much bigger bone to pick with the network.

In a recent interview with the New York Post, Osbourne revealed it was NBC’s firing of her son Jack that prompted her to leave “American’s Got Talent” behind. Sharon alleges that the network canned her son from the upcoming reality show “Stars Earn Stripes” following his multiple sclerosis diagnosis. Feeling her family had been discriminated against, Osbourne decided to call it quits.

“I just can’t be fake,” Osbourne explained to the Post. “It’s discrimination, and it was badly handled.”

According to Sharon, Jack had completed a rigorous physical exam back in January in order to compete in the program, which finds celebrities engaging in various military training exercises. However, when her son was diagnosed with MS, the show removed Jack from the lineup. According to producer David Hurwitz, who insists that Osbourne’s offspring had never been hired, the show would have been “too intense” for him.

When the network reportedly offered to pay him his full appearance fee to help ease tensions, Jack refused. “He didn’t want the money,” Osbourne said. “He wanted his gig. It gave him something to look forward to when he was diagnosed. Think of the good that it could have done to show other people who have this [condition] that your life is not over.”

NBC, meanwhile, calls the whole fiasco a misunderstanding. In a statement, the network said they viewed Sharon as a valuable part of their family, and wished both her and Jack well in their endeavors.

Nick Cannon famously said that American Idol couldn’t afford to offer wife Mariah Carey a potential judgeship. Now, rumor has it, Cannon is furious over his wife’s commitment to Idol, and it might be causing a ripple in the couple’s marriage.

According to the crack reporting team at the National Enquirer (you’ll note our sarcasm there), Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey’s marriage in on the rocks over her choice to become a judge on American Idol, a top competitor to Cannon’s talent show America’s Got Talent. A source claims that “privately, Nick’s gritting his teeth and dead-set against her taking the job. Nick was tossing around outrageous sal­ary figures in hopes of pricing Mariah out of the market.”

“Right until the eleventh hour, he was begging her to pass on the offer. He was dangling incentives — diamond jewellery, a luxurious spa vacation, even promising to pay her a one-time ‘gift’ of $15 million for saying no.”

According to ShowbizSpy, Cannon apparently had other plans for Carey, including turning her back on her career to be a stay-at-home mom. “Nick wants her to be a stay-at-home mum to their twins,” alleged the source, “at least until they turn five. He was even hoping to have another baby, but Mariah has effectively scorched that dream.”

Doesn’t seem likely, notes EntertainmentWise, who reported that Cannon has actually been very publicly supportive of Carey’s spot on Idol. “She’s going to be amazing… people don’t know my wife’s sense of humour. They’re about to get the whole Mariah Carey, raw and uncut! And see the woman that I fell in love with,” he told Access Hollywood.

It’s hard to imagine Nick Cannon being that upset over Carey’s reported $18 million salary as an Idol judge. It’s not like they can’t afford a good au pair.

America’s Got Talent judge Sharon Osbourne is quitting the show – at least, if her Twitter feed is to be believed.

Newbie AGT judge Howard Stern hinted via his Twitter account that he would be leaving the show after the season wraps, also hinting that Osbourne is on the outs as well, reports Hollywood Life. “@HowardStern isn’t sure if he’ll do another season and says Sharon Osbourne may not come back unless she gets more money,” read the tweet from Stern’s radio show’s official account. Osbourne apparently didn’t take too kindly to Stern’s tweet, replying that she wasn’t leaving because of money. “My darling @howardstern, money is not the reason I’m not returning to @nbcagt, it’s because …” and that’s where it cuts off, reports TMZ.

“Wait, what?” said the entirety of the celebrity media machine.

Literally no one knows whether or not this series of tweets is to be taken seriously, especially since there haven’t been any rumors that Stern and Osbourne were considering leaving AGT in the first place. However, the third AGT judge, Howie Mandel, has hinted that this season may be his last, reports the Winnipeg Free Press. He was asked to come back, but played coy on whether or not he’ll be playing judge for another season. “I said, you know, let me just see what it’s like to do the radio show and ‘AGT’ at the same time. So, I’ll be finding that out this week. I really like doing the show though. I really like being a part of it,” Mandel said.

America’s Got Talent judge Howie Mandel called cops over to his house this morning because, according to him, he heard two people having sex in his bathroom, which is something you really can’t handle yourself (read: sarcasm).

Mandel called on the authorities to stop the couple from doing the dirty deed early this morning (around 1:00 a.m.), according to TMZ. Mandel was hosting a 4th of July party at his Calabasas home, a party which was good enough in order to be stalled into the 5th of July. As the 5th kicked off, Mandel walked past the bathroom in his home, and hark! He heard the sounds normally belonging to a copulating couple coming from within.

Now Mandel didn’t call the cops because he just found the idea of a couple using his bathroom to get their rocks off completely unacceptable, rather, he thought it was possible that one of his guests was actually sexually assaulting another. What were you serving at that party, Howie?

Police arrived and put a stop to the shenanigans, interviewing the 21-year-old male and female who absconded to the restroom. The amorous pair admitted to being a bit drunk and having gotten a bit carried away by the sink.

Now that Mandel’s party is more than likely over, he’s probably headed to his local Wal-Mart for a whole bevy of decontamination supplies. “We’re guessing he’s already made a run to the market for bleach — lots of bleach,” said TMZ. Mary Joyner stunned judges with her audition on America’s Got Talent, and that audition just might take the aspiring singer places. Even cooler than the thought of Joyner’s potential is her back-story, being the daughter of Olympic track champions.

Genuine talent in AGT auditions has been running a little thin lately, though the last act on Monday night’s knuckle-dragging run reawakened the audiences and judges alike. Meet Mary Joyner, a 21-year-old college student and aspiring singer, who floored the judges with her rendition of “Gravity” by Sara Bareilles. After her audition, she said that she fell in love with singing when she was only in middle school, causing judge Howie Mandel to reply that everyone had just fallen in love with her, reports the Examiner.

According to Mercury News, Howard Stern said it best: “You had me in 30 seconds.”

As stated, Joyner is actually the daughter of Olympic track champions Al Joyner and Florence Griffith-Joyner. Florence died of epilepsy in 1998, vowing to help her daughter fulfill her dreams of becoming a singer. As the judges pushed Mary through to Vegas, her father Al Joyner joined her on stage with tears in his eyes and a father’s pride. Howie asked Mary if she had any aspiration to follow in her parent’s footsteps, causing her to reply, “I started my own path and it’s singing.”

Still, Mary Joyner’s career path may overlap with the careers of her parents, according to TMZ. Those in charge of the Team USA Olympic Track and Field Team were apparently so taken by Joyner’s performance that they offered her a job – singing the national anthem at the U.S. Track and Field trials in Eugene, Oregon later in the month. “It’s great to see that Mary is achieving her goals and dreams just as her mother did,” the rep said.

Either way, Mary Joyner got her three votes and is on her way to the next round on AGT.

Stuttering war veteran Timothy Poe and his family are receiving death threats after the Armed Forces said there was no record of Mr. Poe being injured in Afghanistan as he had claimed.

The America’s Got Talent contestant appeared on the show and claimed an explosion left him brain damaged with a stutter, however troop members and military officials have since shot down that claim, reporting no record of Timothy Poe’s service based injury.

Timothy also provided America’s Got Talent producers with a photo that turned out not to be his own.

In an interview with TMZ Poe’s family revealed they have been receiving death threats in public. Poe’s sister-in-law says a group of kids approached her in a local store and said:

“We’re going to kill you and the whole family.”

Other family members for Timothy Poe have received death threats over the phone and Poe’s own fiancée received a threat after his phone number was leaked on social media website. According to his fiancée the caller said:

“You made American vets look bad and now you’re going to suffer.”

Other callers have promised to show up at Poe’s house with their friends to “deal with the situation” so they better “watch out.”

Following the claims of Fraud a family member for Timothy Poe says he may now be suicidal and that he has refused to leave his house since the scandal first broke.

In the meantime the family has not chosen to get the police involved over the threats.

Timothy Poe, the stuttering veteran soldier and crowd favorite on America’s Got Talent, left nary a dry eye in the audience during his emotional audition this week. A photo of a soldier overseas was showed during his audition. There’s just one problem. That soldier isn’t Poe. The real McCoy in the photo? Very upset about it.

The photo is of one Staff Sgt. Norman Bone, who told TMZ that he heard about the photo from his wife who was watching Talent. At first, Bone shrugged it off as a tribute to all the troops, and didn’t give it any more of his attention. Then on Tuesday, one of his Afghanistan buddies Facebooked him, advising him to check the clip out for himself online. He did, and now he’s extremely upset about it.

The El Paso, Texas-based Bone told TMZ, “First thing that came to my mind was ‘Why would this lying son of a bitch do this,’” adding, “I’m absolutely furious. Been seeing red all day.”

Bone says he doesn’t know Poe from Adam, and is talking with the Army’s legal department to explore his options.

But how do we know that it’s not Poe? The photo was originally posted on the U.S. Department of Defense website, with a caption that reads, “U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Norman Bone directs movement as his patrol turns around on a narrow path in the mountains of Parwan province in Afghanistan on Oct. 25, 2006.” So there’s that.

Poe stands by his story, claiming that he got his stutter from a combat injury while serving overseas. So far, zero of the major media outlets have been able to drum up anything that supports Poe’s story. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. As with TMZ, a lot of damning evidence is cropping up. The Minnesota National Guard released a statement saying, “Sgt. Poe’s official military records do not indicate that he was injured by a grenade in combat while serving in Afghanistan in 2009, as he reports.”

Adding fuel to the fire is Poe’s ex-wife, who doesn’t even think he has a speech impediment at all. “There were no combat injuries,” she says. “I think he developed a ‘feel sorry for me’ stutter.”

TMZ gave Poe a chance to prove his story. They asked for something, anything, that can corroborate his story. He told them he can’t release anything for legal reasons. Since Bone’s reaction, he hasn’t said anything to them at all.

It’s sad what some people will do to get famous.

Andrew De Leon’s performance last night on “America’s Got Talent” was… unexpected.

De Leon, whose Marilyn Manson-esque outfit drew a ‘what’s up Chris Angel’ remark from Nick Cannon, blew the judges away with a perfect opera piece.

De Leon said:

“Growing up, I was alienated because I was never interested in athletics or what everybody else in my family was interested in… Singing was always an escape. It was always a comfort zone.”

De Leon also told the judges that last night’s performance was the first time he’s ever sang in front of a crowd. Before last night, he had never sung in front of his parents or anyone else.

After the crowd gave De Leon a standing ovation, the surprised singer said:

“I’m just so used to being rejected, and I’m not really good at anything, so this is amazing,”

Stern, who poked fun at De Leon before he started singing, was bewildered by De Leon’s performance. Stern said:

“You’ve never performed in front of a big crowd like this? You must have had voice lessons? You what, practice in your room? You absolutely blew the roof off of this place.”

Osbourne and Mandel were equally impressed with De Leon’s performance.

Timothy Michael Poe didn’t seem too confident about his singing when he walked out on the stage in San Antonio for “America’s Got Talent.” But Poe, who talks with a stutter due to a brain injury he received while fighting in Afghanistan, wowed the judges with both his talent and his story.

Poe said:

“I spent 14 years in the military but my service ended in 2009 after I was hit by a grenade in Afghanistan. It broke my back and gave me a brain injury and that’s the reason why a stutter a little bit when I talk.”

Poe said that he was worried about getting up on stage because of his stutter but he was convinced by his friends and family to give it a shot. And when Poe started singing, his stutter disappeared and the audience sat back in amazement.

Poe sang Garth Brooks’ “If Tomorrow Never Comes” and earned a standing ovation.

Howie Mandel called Poe “a phenomenal talent.”

Sharon Osbourne said he had a “rich and beautiful tone to his voice.”

Howard Stern added: “I was moved by your performance and thought you did a good job.”

Concerns regarding Howard Stern‘s behavior as host on the family-friendly show America’s Got Talent are now being swatted down by none other than the vulgar radio shock-jock’s own wife, Beth Stern. The wife of the “King of All Media” insists that her husband has cleaned up his act, and is now “kid-friendly”, reports TMZ.

Beth Stern flew into Los Angeles yesterday to promote her new show on HGTV called Mom Caves, and was asked by TMZ about the fierce backlash Howard Stern has been getting from the powerful TV watchdog outfit, the Parents Television Council. Stern’s wife immediately and confidently reassured TMZ that her hubby would be playing by the rules, saying “Once they obviously start watching, they’re going to see they have nothing to worry about … I think it’s kid-friendly.”

She added, “He’s compassionate … yet he’s a very good judge.”

Stern has himself insisted on his credibility as a judge for America’s Got Talent, saying at a press junket, “This really fit what I built a career on,” continuing, “We’ve had people come on the radio show for years that are talented or really odd. We’ve taken weirdos and made them stars.”

Despite this, the Parent’s Television Council has made it clear that they will be keeping a very close eye on Stern. “Trusting him to do the right thing is like trusting North Korea to do the right thing,” said President Tim Winters.

Them’s fightin’ words, prompting Stern to respond, “Some guy sitting in his basement calling himself Parent Television Council, I don’t think there’s more than 25 people in this thing. I think it’s a money raising thing. They’re entitled to their opinion but they just seem awfully foolish. I invite them to see the show Monday night and see what kind of judge I am. This is a family show. It’s a different form of entertainment.”

It seems that entertainment news has been heavy on Howard Stern mentions since the shock jock made his first appearance as a judge on the competition, and predictably, censorship groups have taken a particular interest in the network’s selection of Stern as a host. In a letter sent to 91 advertisers, the Parents’ Television Council said of Howard Stern’s suitability for the America’s Got Talent gig:

“[T]o our knowledge his only previous judging experience consisted of looking at insecure, naked young women and telling them whether or not they were hot enough to pose for Playboy.”

However, Howard Stern fans are well aware of the DJ’s appreciation for and in-depth analysis of show’s like America’s Got Talent, and in the wake of the criticism, Stern has been addressing his critics in multiple interviews and press conferences about his intent for the show. Stern underscores his own genuine appreciation for the genre, and says:

“I really feel a responsibility to the people who love this show already… In no way do I want to get in the way of it. I want to broaden it and make it better.”

To critics that Stern says “just sound awfully foolish when they haven’t seen the show,” the radio host explains that he accepted the gig solely as a labor of love. He says:

“I didn’t need the money… I didn’t need more fame. I certainly feel famous enough. I’m comfortable in my life. I just love the show and thought how much fun it would be to do it.”

America’s Got Talent execs have said they believe Stern is the closest alternative to Simon Cowell, whose straightforward and unvarnished assessments shaped the genre.

Radio “shock jock” Howard Stern is bringing his schtick to primetime on America’s Got Talent, and unpredictably, censorship groups are not pleased that the morning drive funnyman is sullying the airwaves with his plain-spoken and sometimes offensive brand of humor.

Howard Stern is, for all intents and purposes, notable because he is offensive- that is to say, you don’t really expose yourself to Stern’s show without knowing that chances are in a few minutes of listening, someone, somewhere will be offended. Stern’s move from terrestrial to satellite radio a few years back only freed up the broadcast pioneer’s ability to offend liberally, and many people just find the fact that Howard Stern exists to be offensive.

(As a fellow Long Islander, while I don’t always agree with Stern, I happen to find him entertaining, so nyeh.) This morning, Stern appeared on TODAY, joking about his new gig on the decidedly vanilla America’s Got Talent, and said:

“What a crazy idea, to put me on a family show- someone on NBC should be fired for that.”

But perhaps the true shock in all the hubbub over Howard Stern’s America’s Got Talent judging gig is- to those who haven’t witnessed Stern’s not-infrequent moments of sincerity- that the DJ respects the show and takes his role quite seriously:

“I’m not going on the show to disrupt the beauty of America’s Got Talent- cause I love the show… I merely wanted to go on and be a very serious judge. And what we found as we traveled all over the country that it turns out, I’m the judge that everyone agrees with.”

But while Stern is respectful of the competition and plans to offer his best judging capabilities, he also confirms that he doesn’t plan to be nicey-nice all the time. After relaying an anecdote about how he felt “horrible inside” after disappointing a 7-year-old contestant, Stern says that sometimes painful critique is part of the job. The DJ explains that as a judge, “you owe it to the contestants to offer criticism.”

Simon Cowell has denied a years-old rumor that he is gay in a new unauthorized biography.

The 52-year-old American Idol and X Factor judge slammed speculation about his sexuality in Sweet Revenge: The Intimate Life of Simon Cowell. While saying he would feel no shame if the gossip was true, the talent show personality told author Tom Bower he was straight, and had nothing to hide:

“If I was gay, why wouldn’t I admit it? It wouldn’t harm me, and my mother wouldn’t freak out.”

Bower’s biography has already caused concern in the Cowell camp, despite the star being actively involved in its creation.

Cowell admitted to TMZ Live that he was “embarrassed” by the release of the book, despite giving several on-the-record interviews to Bower on his private jet and luxury yacht.

“It’s not my habit to kiss and tell. I’ve never done it. I’ve always tried to keep my private life private, and it is unfortunate. So I was feeling very embarrassed and not gentlemanly at all this week because it’s just not my style.”

The troublesome bio also reveals that Cowell had a secret fling with Aussie pop star and fellow talent judge Dannii Minogue. As Bower told MTV:

“Simon was on his own at the time and she was on her own, too. There was a natural chemistry between them. It’s not something he wanted to come out but it has – there is nothing unusual about it at all.”

British journalist and biographer Tom Bower – who previously wrote about Mohammad al-Fayed, Conrad Black, and Gordon Brown – has released his latest unauthorized biography titled Sweet Revenge: The Intimate Life of Simon Cowell.

The portrait painted of Cowell by Bower offers intimate details of The X Factor judge’s life behind the silver screen. After becoming infatuated with Cowell’s ability to take the old-fashioned talent contest into the 21st-century and generate an estimated $320 million in the process, as estimated by the Sunday Times Rich List, Bower decided to write the biography which entails the struggle of a middle-aged music producer who manages to manifest himself as as success in order to prove to those who disparaged him prior to his widely recognized success in the entertainment industry. Bower was quoted having said:

“He had 20 years – more than 20 years – of humiliation. At school he was a total failure and as a music producer he was a total failure.”

While the book wasn’t authorized by Simon, Fox News reports that the book was written with his participation as the two spent time together on his private jet, his yacht in the south of France as well as the Caribbean, and at his Los Angeles home. In regards to Cowell’s participation in the biography, Bower was quoted having said:

“He clearly wanted his story told properly, but there are parts he didn’t want told and it was up to me to find out about them.”

Sweet Revenge is scheduled for United States publication on Tuesday by Ballantine Books.

Howie Mandel said that we’d see a softer side of Howard Stern on NBC’s America’s Got Talent, and others have chimed in saying we should expect to see a softer side of the radio shock jock as the show returns for its 7th season in May.

At NBC’s Summer Press Day in Pasadena on Wednesday, Mandel and co-host Sharon Osbourne said that they were surprised by the controversial radio host’s softer side, and expected the audience to see the same when the new season premieres. “I was fascinated with how polarizing the reactions have been [to Stern's hire],” said Mandel.

“He is so passionate about finding a star, about the show, that I think America will see a side of Howard they haven’t seen before,” Mandel continued. “Yes, he’s edgy and honest, but he’s a very bright, smart man. Nobody gets to that height without knowing what they’re doing. He’s also compassionate, emotional, serious and has good constructive criticism. He’s a good judge.”

Stern is a longtime fan of the series, and would often talk about contestants on his radio show. He is being brought in as a judge to replace Piers Morgan.

Mandel recalled an anecdote showcasing Stern’s compassion. Stern judged a 7-year-old aspiring rapper. “The kid didn’t have talent beyond being adorable,” Mandel recalled. “Howard, being who he is, [quickly] hit his buzzer. The reaction to this was heartbreaking. [The child] heaved and collapsed in tears. Howard turned to me, like, ‘Oh my god, this is not what I signed up for.’ Howard got right up, and got right up on stage, and he held the child and consoled him, saying ‘I’m so sorry.’”

“Everyone thinks he’s going to come in really outrageous,” added Sharon Osbourne. “He comes to us with great experience, especially about music.”

“You’re seeing him do good judging, but at the same time he’s a father, human being, a son,” Mandel continued.

Host Nick Cannon also reassured reporters that he was in good health and looking forward to the new season. “My health is 100 percent,” he said. “[The show] never feels like work; I love doing this.”

When he isn’t busy fighting his battles in court, Howard Stern is airing them out on his Sirius XM radio show. Stern laid into producer/director Judd Apatow, the man behind Freaks & Geeks, Funny People, and Knocked Up, after Apatow tweeted at Howard Stern over his dissatisfaction with the content in Stern’s talk show.

In the tweet Judd said, “I hate to say it but I don’t have much interest in discussions about america’s got talent. I tried. It is just too much synergy. @sternshow”

Instead of firing back on twitter, Howard Stern laid into Judd Apatow on the same radio show that the filmmaker complained about, saying, “I don’t call him out on every artistic decision he makes.. If you’re not down with it, get the fuck off my channel. No need to whack me from the side of the head.”

Of course, that wasn’t enough for the radio shock jock and Stern continued on making his own criticisms of Apatow’s work, taking the discussion to the next level to criticize his films, specifically on the 2009 comedy Funny People “The worst film ever. The worst movie ever made. Talk about going on and on. I’ll take advice from someone who didn’t go on and on in their movie.”

Howard Stern then drove it home and got personal with Judd Apatow during this segment on his talk show by bringing up his wife, actress Leslie Mann, and her involvement in all of her husband’s productions, “I don’t put my wife in every project I do either. ”

If it wasn’t obvious how upset Stern was by Judd’s comments Howard let his listeners know by going on saying, “What kind of bro are you d—-wad? F–k off and you’re not my friend—scumbag,” said Stern. “That kind of ticked me off. I talk about what’s going on in my life.”

If you think the pair are going to have a celebrity death match on twitter, think again. Howard Stern’s official twitter page has cited that the feud is over after Apatow tweeted, responding to Howard Stern’s lament, “I will love the show always. It was a pretty mild tweet.”

Howard Stern recently sat down in the judges chair on “America’s Got Talent” but he hasn’t been as mean as you might think. Stern has been pretty well behaved on the talent show, which has been surprising even for him.

Reality TV Magazine reports that stern saw his first round of contestants recently and the infamous talk show host found himself being more compassionate than he expected.

Stern said:

“There were times when I was downright compassionate. It was really unsettling…”

Stern says that he has a knack for guiding people without talent in the right direction. Stern added:

“I’ve taken more no-talents and made them talents. There is a way to sculpt people, to mentor people, and a way to find something that would tap into the national psyche.”

The shock jock may be trying to help those talentless souls on America’s Got Talent, but he knows that sometimes he has to buzz them out. Stern said that he felt like the devil when he had to buzz out a 9-year-old girl. Stern said:

“I buzzed a nine-year-old kid. The kid was adorable, but I did it, man, you got to do it. I said, ‘Look, you’re cute, you’re adorable, but goodness gracious, you don’t belong on America’s Got Talent,’ and you just feel like the devil himself.”

NBC is reportedly paying Stern about $15 million per season so hopefully the money comfort Stern when he feels like the devil.

Howard Stern has been rumored as a judge for many of televisions top contestant driven reality TV shows and on Thursday yet another rumor sprung from the ashes. According to the Wall Street Journal the king of shock jock radio may soon be a judge on the hit talent series America’s Got Talent.

While Stern has left lucrative judging paydays on the table in the past the newspaper says NBC officials are very serious about hiring the shock jock and have even discussed moving America’s Got Talent from Los Angeles to New York just so Stern will come on-board.

If Stern accepts the offer he will reportedly be paid $15 million a year for his time spent on the show, money he will earn on top of his multi-million dollar Sirius XM paychecks.

If the rumor is true insiders say Stern would replace Piers Morgan who announced this week that he would be leaving the show to focus his efforts on his fledgling CNN program which he took over after Larry King retired.

At this time news of the Howard Stern judging choice is just a rumor and there’s no guarantee that he will accept the gig.

I understand that Stern has made more than half a billion dollars during his radio career but honestly why wouldn’t he take $15 million just to walk down the street from his apartment and host a show where he sits around and criticizes people like he already does so well.

Piers Morgan announced on his CNN show, “Piers Morgan Tonight“, on Wednesday that he will be stepping down from his judge’s seat on America’s Got Talent next season.

Instead, he’ll be making use of his free time by preparing for 2012, which he says will be a “huge year” for political news, what with the presidential elections going on and all.

“I’ve been a judge since the show began six years ago, and I’ve loved every single second,” Morgan said on Piers Morgan Tonight. “I’ve discovered that juggling, to my surprise, really is a bit more difficult than I thought.”

Morgan thanked America’s Got Talent‘s production company and NBC in the program, as well as his “great friend” Simon Cowell for giving him the opportunity to host for so many years.

Co-judge Sharon Osbourne took to Twitter to plead with Morgan not to leave, saying: “I woke up this morning, thought I had a dream that Piers resigned. Now I’m waking up to the reality. Dont go. Never thought I would say this”

Howie Mandel also chimed in on the news, joking that Morgan’s departure had something to do with him. “I guess I’m more annoying than I thought. I’ll miss you @piersmorgan,” he wrote.

Sinatra crooner Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. beat out a field of talented singers, dancers and performers to win season 6 of America’s Got Talent, claiming the competitions $1 million prize along with a Vegas contract.

The singer managed to beat out body-lighted Team iLuminate, the band PopLyfe and shadow dancers Silhouettes. It should be noted that PopLyfe stumbled during their Queen cover medley on Tuesday.

During the finale for season 6 the 36-year-old crooner performed with Patti LaBell, a big jump in his career after appearing on the show straight from his job at a West Virginia car wash.

The other acts also got to perform with known performers, including iLuminate with Cobra Starship, Silhouettes with LeAnn Rimes and PopLyfe who played a tune with Stevie Wonder.

Returning to the show was last season’s runner up Jackie Evancho, the tiny operatic singer who has launched quite the career of her own.

In 2010 the Fleetwood Mac singer released her first album in nearly 10 years to excellent praise by critics and fans alike and her star continues to rise once again, most recently taking to the stage with Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine for an excellent performance at the Hollywood Bowl.

As you can see in the video she was accompanied by a full orchestra and backing singers. She is definitely in the big league now. It looks like she has received a small make-over too with brown hair and whiter teeth, but she has kept her charm.

It’s good to see her back in form and good health. Last night’s performance boosted the pre-order for her upcoming album, “I Dreamed A Dream” and she is now #1 on Amazon’s bestseller list.

America’s Got Talent winner Terry Fator has signed a five year deal (with an option of a further five years) with the Mirage in Las Vegas.

Fator will perform five shows a week in the 1,265-seat Terry Fator Theatre beginning in February 2009. Tickets will go on sale later this year.
