Paul McCartney was honored Friday with the MusiCares Person Of The Year award. At the event, stars such as Katy Perry, Coldplay, Tony Bennett and a whole lot more took to the stage to sing some of McCartney’s greatest hits throughout his 50-year career.

Perry was seen at the concert in a flamboyant pink hat and long dress. She kicked off her bit with a rendition of ‘Live And Let Die’ with her backing band, but then she took everyone by surprise when she switched it up and started singing ‘Hey Jude’.

McCartney, who is nearing 70 years old, received recognition for his musical achievements at the event, which takes place just a few days ahead of the Grammys. “It’s great for me to be here,” he told the crowd. “It’s fantastic to hear all these fantastic artists doing my songs.”

Katy Perry wasn’t the only singer to pay homage to McCartney by singing one of the superstars’ tracks. Coldplay got on the stage, saying “”We love Paul and we’re happy to be here,” before launching into “We Can Work It Out”. After Alicia Keys and many more stars belted out a few tunes on stage, Mr. McCartney himself took to the stage momentarily.

Perry is scheduled to perform again very soon, this time at the Grammys on Sunday.

According to OTRC, the documentary follows the “Fallin” singer and five young adults during a trip to South Africa during last year’s World Cup in which they visited numerous Keep a Child Alive – Key’s non-profit organization that provides medicine to African HIV victims – funded sites.

The philanthropic star said about her decision to make the movie (via CNN):

“I want people to feel like you can do something about this (epidemic), and that you understand it because you find a place inside yourself that connects to the love of another human being.”

According to CNN, the five Americans who made the journey to Africa with Keys were selected out of 24,000 applicants, who all texted the word that best describes their feelings about Africa. The winning words were heartbeat, resilient, ubuntu, strength.

Keys said the young adults who made the journey with her, many of whom had never ventured outside America, felt empowered after meeting with some of the 16.6 million children have lost their parents to AIDS.

“A lot of times we feel like things going on in the word are so big and so massive and untouchable, and think, ‘What can we do, and how can we do anything.’ I think that when we see it from human to human … you will feel empowered and angered,” Keys said.

Jay-Z opened Game 2 of the World Series last night with a performance of his new New York anthem “Empire State of Mind,” featuring Alicia Keys. (Video below.)

Players and fans completely rocked out to the song, off the Blueprint 3 and playing out of approximately 15% of car windows throughout the tri-state area right now. Derek Jeter told MLB.com:

“I think it’s special for all of New York,” Yankees captain Derek Jeter said of the hit song which is on Jay-Z’s album “The Blueprint 3″ and doubles as Jeter’s at-bat music.

“I think it almost seems like it’s the anthem for New York right now,” Jeter added. “I got an opportunity to get to know Jay-Z throughout the years and he’s very, very talented doing a lot of things. But he knows what he’s doing, so I think New York has kind of embraced that song.”

Interestingly, the Wall Street Journal of all publications posted this morning about Beanie Sigel supposedly dissing Hova in a new track called “Average Cat.”

The song, “Average Cat,”contains lyrics that reference an incident that supposedly occured at Jay-Z’s September 11 tribute concert. “The rapper Shawn called the police on me//cause I was front row at the Blue Print 3,” Siegel raps, referring to Jay-Z’s latest album, which he premiered live at the show.

The WSJ points out that Sigel just commented on how everyone has been having a go at Jigga lately, and it’s just not right.

“This ain’t the green light for everybody to start making diss Jay-Z records,” he said, adding that “this just me taking my brother out in the yard for 5 minutes.”

Model and actress Brooke Burke has won the 7th season of Dancing with the Stars in tonight’s finale. Burke with partner Derek Hough beat runners up Warren Sapp and Kym Johnson for the title.

Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys performed in the finale, which brought back all the competitors, including Cloris Leachman who returned to dance the tango.

“You are a star,” judge Carrie Ann Inaba told Brooke after the final dance. The judge also praised Burke’s partner Derek Hough as an incredible teacher.

N Sync singer Lance Bass, who came on strong in recent weeks, finished third.

Wow, Alicia Keys singlehandedly managed a major burn at the 2008 American Music Awards last night. Thanks to Splash News, we got to see footage of Alicia sitting down during Beyonce’s performance while the rest of the audience looked completely into it (and was standing up). Were painful shoes or pangs of bitterness to blame?

Bad choice of Loubous aside, there could a couple reasons for Alicia to be looking so erm, competitive during Beyonce’s AMA performance. There were the Grammy Wars in October (which Alicia won, I might add), and it doesn’t help that their looks are often compared by 17-year-old boys plenty of people on the internet.

Is that enough for a major snub, or was this just an inopportune moment on Alicia Keys’ part? I bet there’s a bucketload of drama just waiting to be discovered between these two.

Another Way to Die, the Jack White/ Alicia Keys duet theme song for the next James Bond flick The Quantum of Solance was released 2 weeks ago, and the general reaction from Inquisitr readers wasn’t positive. For the followup, the video clip has been released, as embedded from the original source above (if you can’t see this in the feed, visit the site….also this is the original source, so quality is superior to the YouTube rips popping up).

I know others don’t like the song, but combined with the dark, moody Bondesque clip I’m warming to it more and more. The other thing to note from the clip: Alicia Keys is quite simply hot.

The full theme song to the next James Bond film Quantum of Solace has been released. The track sees Jack White team up with Alicia Keys to offer a modern take on a Bond theme.

The undertones are deep, somewhat dark (it says Jack White) with some brass adding to the over all Bond affect. Reviews so far are mixed, but as a Bond fan who still owns nearly every Bond theme song, I don’t mind it. It keeps to the theme, even if it’s a little flat compared to the strong vocals of Shirley Bassy, or the pop rock of Wings for Live and Let Die. The dark mood sits well with the darker Bond we’ve seen since Daniel Craig took over the role.
