Keanu Reeves was recently speaking with GQ Magazine when he revealed that Bill & Ted 3 is progressing nicely and is now seeking a film production study to make the movie. In his interview, Keanu said of the script:

 ”We have a nice story. We’ll see if anyone else wants to make it.”

According to Reeves, the story would focus on middle-aged Bill and Ted characters who are ”crushed by the responsibility of having to write the greatest song ever written and to change the world.”

Reeve’s continues:

“And they haven’t done it. So everybody is kind of like: ‘Where is the song?’ The guys have just drifted off into esoterica and lost their rock.”

The boys than head off into the future in search of answers. According to Keanu:

“One future ‘us’ refuses to tell us [whether the song ever got written], and another future ‘us’ blames us for their lives because we didn’t write the song, so they’re living this terrible life,” Reeves says. “In one version we’re in jail; in another we’re at some kind of highway motel and they hate us.”

As with any script being shopped around to major Hollywood studios, there will likely be major changes to the storyline, but at least we can say with confidence that a lot of work is going into Bill & Ted 3. Hopefully that hard work will one day translate into an awesome new Keanu Reeves helmed film. Previously attached to the film was Galaxy Quest director Dean Parisot.

No way! It looks like the third entry in the classic Bill and Ted franchise is still moving forward. According to Vulture, Galaxy Quest filmmaker Dean Parisot, who also directed Jim Carrey in the remake of Fun with Dick and Jane, has signed on to helm the upcoming sequel. For 80′s geeks with an undying love for Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves, this is certainly good news.

The project has been in the works for a while now, though, until recently, very little progress had been made. However, the addition of a director seems to indicate the production is still in the process of moving forward. Additionally, series creators Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson have reportedly been hard at work on the script.

MTV News reports that, back in April, Reeves seemed to think the follow-up was close to becoming an actuality. He even dropped some hints about what the boys will be up to in the third installment.

“When we last got together, part of it was that Bill and Ted were supposed to have written the song that saved the world, and it hasn’t happened,” he explained. “So they’ve now become kind of possessed by trying to do that. Then there’s an element of time and they have to go back.”

“Mr. Holland’s Opus” director Stephen Herek debuted Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure back in 1989. The film followed the exploits of two wanna-be high school rock stars who are on the cusp of failing their senior year. Since both Bill and Ted will ultimately write music that will change the world, an agent from the future is sent back in time to assist them with their history project. Instead of pointing them in the direction of a library, he gives them a time-traveling phone booth and tells them to learn the lessons of history first-hand from the people who made it.

Unfortunately, we may still have a while to wait before Bill and Ted 3 hits the big screen. Presently, Dean Parisot is working on Red 2 with Bruce Willis, while Keanu Reeves is directing his martial arts epic Man of Tai Chi.

It’s official! Nearly 21 years since the last Bill and Ted adventure, Actor Keanu Reeves revealed to the UK paper, The Independent that not only is the script for Bill and Ted 3 finished but “it’s good!”

Keanu went on to tell the paper more details about the script saying, “We’re trying to put it together. It’s a good script too.

The last we’ve heard from Keanu about the script was last April when he told MTV more details on what he hoped would come out of a final draft. “When we last got together, part of it was that Bill and Ted were supposed to have written the song that saved the world, and it hasn’t happened. So they’ve now become kind of possessed by trying to do that. Then there’s an element of time and they have to go back.”

So what exactly does Reeves think about the huge time gap, and can they pull it off? Reeves admitted to The Independent that he was a little leery and he had to come over his fears a little bit stating, “I had the classic 40 meltdown. I did. It’s embarrassing. It was pretty funny. But then I recovered. To me, it was like a second adolescence. Hormonally, my body was changing, my mind was changing, and so my relationship to myself and the world around me came to this assault of finiteness. It was also the end of the projection of my younger self. I came to the place where I thought, ‘I don’t know where I am anymore but where have I come from and what am I doing?’”

Ted’s counterpart actor Alex Winter even tweeted about the third installment too, “Script done? Check. We love it? Check. Green light? Working on it!”

So what do you guys think? Will this new installment pick up any new fans? It seems like with the reboot of 21 Jump Street that if there’s a right time to relive some glory it’s now.
