While Coldplay has been sampling songs from their upcoming fifth studio album during the bands concert tour over the last year there has been one song that has been elusive, the bands duet with singer Rihanna and now we have the audio from that song.

Titled Princess of China Martin has called it his “favorite song” on the album.

As MTV points out the song starts with standard Coldplay fanfare with Rihanna wailing away “Oh, oh woah woah oh” before the song transforms into an R&B beat to which Martin sings:

“Once upon a time somebody ran/ Somebody ran away saying as fast as I can/ I got to go/ I got to go.”

He’s followed by Rihanna who sings:

“Once upon a time we weren’t right/ All we ever seemed to do is fight/ On and on/ And on and on and on.”

Rihanna then continues on as she dreams about being a princess and finding her king.

With Chris Martin singing in his trademark falsetto voice and Rihanna using her high-range the pair seem like the perfect choice for Coldplay’s first duet track.

Last month Martin said about the song:

“Well, her bit on our record is my favorite bit … when the song came out, it sort of asked for her to be on it … And I think at this point, we have nothing to lose, and so we’ve been trying some new things and trying to break down the perceived boundaries between different types of music. … Because from where we’re sitting, it seems like you can try and sound any way you like nowadays. You don’t have to be in a rock box or a hip-hop box or a pop box, and I think it’s fun when you embrace that idea.”

The album will drop on October 25 and in the meantime here’s the leaked recording:

While most of the world’s attention regarding Michael Jackson is now being centered around the cause of his death the online world is celebrating his music and life the one way they know how – they’re downloading his music. On Amazon his music is currently taking up the top 14 spots on the bestselling album list. Over at the iTunes to 10 album list is top heavy with Jackson albums taking up the top 7 spots.

As well the gang over at TorrentFreak are reporting on how well Jackson’s music is doing on BitTorrent sites.

At the time of writing the three most active torrents in the music section on the largest torrent indexer, Mininova, are all compilations or discographies from the “King of Pop”. On top is a torrent listing 30 Michael Jackson albums, The Jackson 5 and The Jacksons, totaling 1.94 GB of music.

Even the tag clouds found on some of the BitTorrent sites are showing a lot of activity around the Jackson name and music.

As with Elvis when he died I imagine the rush to get Michael Jackson’s music will increase over the next little while as people rush to get a slice of history.
