Adam Lambert will try to channel the late Queen frontman Freddie Mercury when the band goes on tour this Summer. Lambert, who just released a new music video, will join the remaining members of the legendary band for a cross country tour through 2012.

Lambert said:

“The intention is to pay tribute to Freddie and the band by singing some f—ing great songs. It’s to keep the music alive for the fans and give it an energy that Freddie would have been proud of… Being asked to front Queen is the best thing that can possibly happen.”

But matching the vocal prowess of Mercury will be a difficult task. Fans have already started criticizing Lambert saying that he can’t replace Freddie Mercury as Queen’s frontman. Lambert said:

“(There’s) backlash from people saying, ‘You can’t replace Freddie Mercury.’ But I already knew that. There’s no intention in my mind of replacing Freddie. That’s impossible. The way I’m choosing to view it is that it’s a great honor and one I’m in no way going to shirk.”

Canoe reports that Lambert has already performed with original Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor. May and Taylor joined Lambert during his final performance on American Idol in 2009. They also teamed up at the MTV European Music Awards last year.

At the time, Taylor said:

“He has grown into a really great performer with an astonishing voice… We would like to work with him again. There’s nothing signed just yet but we’re talking about live dates.”

The tour dates aren’t set yet but Queen and its new frontman will play a show at Knebworth in England, where Freddie Mercury played his final gig with the band in 1986.

Well it’s here, finally, for all you Adam Lambert fans anxiously waiting for his next album and of course the first video from that album.

Titled “Better Than I Know Myself” it is the usual Adam Lambert angst and agony mixed with a fairly good beat, so suffice to say the long time fans of Lambert’s won’t be disappointed in the least. Whether it will bring any new fans into the fold is hard to say but regardless of the topic of the song Adam Lambert has said in interviews leading up to the release that he has never been happier in his life.

According to the folks over at The Hollywood Reporter Lambert and his label RCA are expecting this to be a big hit for both the company and the singer. Here’s the video so I’ll let you decide for yourself.

According to USA Today, Lambert 29, and his beau, Finnish Big Brother star Sauli Koskinen, began their altercation in one of the back rooms of DTM (Don’t Tell Momma), a famous Helsinki gay club. The pair was then apparently kicked out of the bar, but continued their brawl in the street.

At approximately 4am (local time) police arrived on the scene and both Lambert and Koskinen were arrested on possible assault charges. After being questioned by authorities, they were later released.

While it is unclear what started the fight, some accounts name Koskinen’s fellow Big Brother star Niko Nousiainen and Nousianen’s girlfriend, Finnish beauty queen Sofia Ruusila, as being present at the bar when the incident occurred.

The Hollywood reporter states that Lambert arrived in Finland on Monday, Dec. 19 to celebrate Christmas with Koskinen.

Adam Lambert’s new single, “Better Than I Know Myself,” was released on Tuesday. The singer last tweeted on Wednesday at around noon Helsinki time boasting that the song was No. 2 on iTunes in the Middle East. He had earlier written in Finnish, “Helsinki is a beautiful city full of beautiful people! Thank you!”

Rumors started circulating two days ago that Christina Aguilera and Adam Lambert recorded a new single together for one of their albums after Tampa Bay radio station 93.7 FLZ said as much in a tweet. Unfortunately for fans of both singers, the rumor appears to be false.

According to Australian pop star Sia, a friend of the two, the singers currently have no plans for a duet. She said in a tweet: “Adam just texted me. Def no collab with xtina planned, although he said he would love to.”

The news undoubtedly comes as a disappointment for fans looking forward to the collaboration, but maybe it’ll be of at least some consolation that Adam Lambert is at the least interested in doing it. At least there’s some hope for it happening eventually, right?

Lambert spoke unapologetically about the controversy surrounding his risque AMAs performance, on an Early Show segment ironically titled “Straight Talk.” Lambert points out that Eminem boasted of multiple rapes and Janet Jackson groped a fellow dancer, but that even at the late hour (close to 11pm), Lambert’s same-sex shenanigans are the ones raising ire. Lambert pointed out the double standard and told the interviewer that parents should be responsible for what their kids are exposed to, and not performers:

“I’m not using that as an excuse, and I didn’t take any offense with those performers’ choices,” Lambert said. “I’m just saying I think it’s up to a parent to watch the television. It was almost 11:00 at night. If they’re concerned with certain material maybe TiVo it and preview it before your small child is watching it.”

When asked if he should apologize, Lambert responded: “I’m not a babysitter, I’m a performer.”

Lambert concluded his appearance with two songs from his new album, and no simulation of oral sex.

Our favorite American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert performed tonight at the AMA (American Music Awards) and the performance didn’t disappoint.

Adam took the stage to end the show with a performance of his debut single “For Your Entertainment,” which has got some upset because it apparently included simulated oral sex on a male dancer.

But why stop there, because a female dancer grabbed his crotch and he had a brief makeout session with the male keyboardist.

The nut cases from the Westboro Baptist Church have moved on from picketing military funerals to American Idol runner up, the very happily gay Adam Lambert.

Members of the church were spotted holding their usual anti-gay signage outside of the HP Pavilion as the Top 10 finalists performed as part of the annual Idols Live Summer Tour. According to reports the nutters specifically targeted Lambert and suggested among other things that he would catch Aids and die.

Idol finalist Michael Sarver said that Lambert wasn’t affected by the demonstrators outside. “Adam is just fine, shakes it off and so should we” Sarver posted to his Twitter account. “We are together in this thing. You mess with one you mess with all ten. We are strong and we are 1. For those outside protesting I say do not judge less ye be judged yourself. Guys don’t mind these people, we are a strong family.”

The prospects for American Idol runner up Adam Lambert’s first album are looking up, with news that Lady GaGa’s producer has signed on to help.

Producer RedOne is credited as being the mastermind behind Lady GaGa’s hit singles, and is reported to have spent the weekend in the recording studio with Lambert.

RedOne tells the Los Angeles Timesthe he wants Lambert’s album to rock. “I want to go rock — David Bowie and Queen, but make it more easy for people to get. It has to be rock, but with an interesting dance angle to it, you know? You’ll like it.”

RedOne is also a Lambert fan: “You know what I like about him? He’s fresh…You can go almost whatever direction with him. People know him from being on ‘American Idol’ singing other people’s songs, but you can take him in a new direction, and this will be the first time you hear Adam Lambert with his signature. My goal is to get his signature out from him to the world.”

The Inquisitr had Adam Lambert pegged as gay all along but the American Idol star contestant remained mum on the topic of his sexuality, never really ‘coming out’ and saying for sure, even though he had been spotted holding hands with other men, photographed dressed in drag, etc., etc.

In the latest issue of Rolling Stone hitting newsstands tomorrow, Adam Lambert speaks candidly about his sexuality.

“I don’t think it should be a surprise for anyone to hear that I’m gay. I’m proud of my sexuality. I embrace it. It’s just another part of me.”

But the reason why Lambert didn’t say much about being gay before is because he wanted to come out on his own terms and didn’t want his sexuality to influence his music career. Lambert says:

“I was worried that [coming out] would be so sensationalized that it would overshadow what I was there to do, which was sing. I’m an entertainer, and who I am and what I do in my personal life is a separate thing. It shouldn’t matter. Except it does. It’s really confusing.”

Claims in the media that claim Adam Lambert is a rude diva may have come from Clay Aiken fans, at least one site is claiming.

According to ClayAiken411, “Claymates” (fans of Aiken) were behind the diva story first reported by MSNBC regarding Adam Lambert. The story was spread in an attempt to “get even” with Lambert after his stoush with Aiken last month.

The original report included multiple quotes from people who were allegedly connected to the shows, claiming that Lambert was a massive diva, rude to staff, and that he’d never get ahead with an attitude like that. What was surprising about the allegations was the timing: not once before has Lambert been accused of such behavior.

Aiken and Lambert have never met before, but drew headlines together after Aiken attacked Adam’s singing. Lambert jokingly responded later that Aiken was trying to ride his coat tails.

American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert has been accused of being a rude diva by insiders who worked on the show.

“He is such a diva. Rude to everyone — from fans right down to the lighting folks,” a source told MSNBC. Another source claimed that “A-list celebrities have come through here and been infinitely more polite.”

Because two sources is never enough, a music producer added that Lambert should change his attitude quickly. “No one sells that many records these days to be able to get away with that kind of behavior. To be a success you need literally everyone in your corner.”

The motivation for the attacks isn’t clear, although with Lambert continuing to dominate the headlines over winner Kris…what was his name again…Allen, it wouldn’t be surprising if this was an orchestrated attempt to take some of the gloss off Lambert’s continued popularity.

Despite some still questioning whether American Idol runner up Adam Lambert is gay, it’s pretty clear that Lambert isn’t asking the same question, stepping out with his boyfriend in Hollywood this week.

Lambert’s boyfriend, interior designer Drake LaBry was seen frequently backstage and in the audience during American Idol shows. The couple were pictured hand in hand leaving the Guys and Dolls night club in West Hollywood Monday night, and later shopping on Tuesday.

Reports suggest that Lambert will officially “out” himself in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine next month, but the question should be asked: why does he need to when there’s really no question…and it doesn’t really matter anyway.

Susan Boyle is not leaving Britain’s Got Talent. After Susan Boyle’s supposed meltdown and rumors of doctors and experts keeping an eye on her, she is now saying:

“I want nothing more than to stay and sing in the Britain’s Got Talent final”.

“I’ve spent weeks rehearsing – it’s all I’ve been thinking about. I’m not going to throw away my big chance now”.

According to ITV (who broadcasts the TV show) the emotional outburst from Susan, as well as supposed threats to leave, “have been taken out of context, and are not serious or true”.

“Susan Boyle is still very much part of the Britain’s Got Talent. She is looking forward to the Grand Final and she is rehearsing hard to prepare for the biggest night of her life”.

“She, like all of our contestants, is being closely looked after by programme makers. Susan’s personal welfare is very important to us, and we will continue to do everything we can to make sure she remains happy and well”.

The Britain’s Got Talent final is tonight and Susan Boyle is the favorite to win, but we’ve seen favorites lose before (*cough* Adam Lambert *cough*), you never know.

Adam Lambert has finally responded to the catty comments made by former fellow gay American Idol runner Clay Aiken.

“I don’t know Clay,” Lambert told Access Hollywood. “I’m glad he’s getting headlines now though, because he wasn’t before. If he wants to ride my coattails about it, good for him.”

Aiken stirred Lambert fans up last week, saying on an Idol show he’d watched that “Adam Lambert was singing ‘Ring of Fire’ and, at that moment, thought my ears would bleed. Contrived, awful, and slightly frightening!” Aiken later apologized for the remarks.

Despite losing American Idol in suspicious circumstances, Lambert has thrived since the show with multiple media appearances. Lambert is also being considered for the position of lead singer of Queen.

The outcome of American Idol 2009 has been questioned following the disclosure that AT&T employees helped Kris Allen voters.

According to the reports, AT&T employees in Allen’s home town provided free phones and bulk text messaging assistance at two Allen parties. Allen was not expected to win Idol, with Adam Lambert entering the final week as the short priced favorite.

AT&T and Fox are both denying that anything untoward happened, although AT&T did confirm that employees did assist Allen voters.

It’s difficult to see how two parties in Allen’s home town could have influenced the national vote, but likewise the revelation does break two Idol rules: blocks of votes cast using ‘technical enhancements’ that unfairly influence the outcome of voting can be thrown out, and that text voting is open only to AT&T subscribers and is subject to normal rates, where as in this case voters were provided the ability for free.

Don’t expect any change to the result, but likewise the failure of American Idol to enforce its own rules casts a serious shadow over any legitimacy the show might have had.

Former American Idol runner up Clay Aiken has ripped in to this years runner up Adam Lambert.

Having only watched Lambert perform once, Aiken writes “I only turn the show on once a season, and only to see what the set looks like each year. This year, I happened to turn it during the minute that Adam Lambert was singing ‘Ring of Fire’ and, at that moment, thought my ears would bleed. Contrived, awful, and slightly frightening!

Aiken, who unlike Lambert denied he was gay before eventually coming out, also lashed out at the show that made him famous by accusing it of showing bias; “Not even having watched the show, I can tell you that I was WELL aware of the bias from the judges as to who should win,” he said. “In my opinion, that is awfully unattractive. I don’t think I am alone.” Aitken believes that viewers voted against Lambert because of the bias shown by judges.

You can’t help but think that Aiken might be a more than a bit worried that there is now a challenger to the attention he gets for being a gay American Idol runner up

(Don’t continue reading if you don’t want to know the result.) It came down to Kris Allen and Adam Lambert on the final show of American Idol Season 8 tonight at Nokia Theater in Los Angeles tonight (May 20). Allen, the boy next door vs the glam and very much gay Adam Lambert. Lambert was the short priced favorite going into the season finale, but knowing who the winner is upfront doesn’t make for good television.

The two-hour show, with the result coming at the end included former Idol winners Carrie Underwood and David Cook, as well as Rod Stewart, Lionel Richie, Cyndi Lauper, Queen Latifah, Black Eyed Peas and Keith Urban.

100 million votes later, we got to the result: Kris Allen won.

Apparently America was more comfortable voting for the non-gay contestant, one who certainly has a lot of talent, but one that vocally at least wasn’t the superior choice.

Hopefully Adam Lambert will use the opportunity of not winning to launch a stellar career. We look forward to listening to his first album.

If the Adam Lambert Mad World performance was understated on tonight’s American Idol finale, Adam’s second song was the dead opposite.

Singing the “producers choice” of A Change is Gonna Come, Adam showed off his impeccable vocal ability, complete with lots of pitch perfect high notes.

And the judges loved it. Randy said to Adam that “You can sing your face off that was unbelievable.” Kara went for “a great combination of high notes and emotion…using both sided of yourself.” Paula added “The best that I’ve heard.. I know you will be iconic!” The hardest, but most important critic to win over was Simon Cowell, and in that regard, Adam won: “All I can say is that you’re 100 percent back in the game.”

It’s the final week of American Idol for 2009 and American gets to choose between Adam Lambert and Kris Allen.

For his first song tonight, Adam Lambert revisited Mad World, a song he sang during the earlier stage of the competition. Being Adam Lambert though, the arrangement got a work over, with a new look, and a slight change of pace with the vocals.

Judges comments: Randy said he loves the coat and the performance, and scores it as an A+. Kara said Adam rocked it again tonight. Paula claims Adam is “astonishingly handsome” and said it was a great way to cap the journey. Simon though, who is in the media this week saying he thinks Kris Allen will win, claims that Adam performed the song better the first time around, and claimed that the coat made him look like the Phantom of the Opera.

One thing to say about the performance: it was risky. The song by its nature is understated, and while pulling it off scores performance quality points, it can underwhelm the audience vs a more energetic rock performance. I hope Adam hasn’t made a bad call.
