Kobe underwent the therapy in order to recover form a knee injury and he credits the therapy with giving him the ability to stay on the court.

Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman told Yankees.com “Kobe had maintained, according to Alex, that he felt significantly better because of it.  Alex was interested in pursuing it as long as the Yankees’ medical staff was comfortable with it and vetted the process. He basically asked us to look into it.”

Major League Baseball had to also be consulted because the process involves blood treatments and Rodriguez (who has admitted steroid use in the past) didn’t want to be accused of cheating.

Orthokine Therapy is a process in which blood is taken from the patient’s arm vein and having it spun in a centrifuge to isolate protective proteins. That solution is then injected into the area to be treated once or twice a week.

Rodriguez had one of the worst seasons in his career last year, batting .276 with 16 home runs and 62 RBIs in 99 games. Rodriguez missed 38 games after being placed on the disabled list in July to undergo arthroscopic knee surgery.

Rodriguez was seen by Dr. Peter Wehling to undergo the procedure during a Dec. 5-9in Dusseldorf, Germany.  The procedure is also practiced in the United States, but after a thorough investigation the team and Rodriguez felt more comfortable with Dr Wehling.

Alex Rodriguez’s involvement in a high stakes poker game at a private Beverly Hills mansion may end up costing the star Yankee at least two regular season games.

The game allegedly happened at the home of a record producer where open cocaine use was encouraged and violence was threatened when one player lost “more than a half-million dollars” according to an inside source.

A league spokesman told ESPN:

“We’re taking this very seriously,” and “Because he had been warned about this before, I would say a possible suspension would be very much in play.”

Another spokesman added to USA Today that the star player will be summoned for an interview.

The original report by The Star said people in attendance included Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Matt Damon, and Ben Affleck, all regulars to the underground poker circuit.

Former Madam Kristen Davis, best known for organizing hookers for former New York Governor Elliot Spitzer has been named as both a supplier and former lover of disgraced New York Yankee’s player Alex Rodreiguez.

According to the NY Daily News, the relationship started with the supply of hookers, then turned into something more personal. Davis is said to have found A-Rod “so charming she “dated him herself for free.” A-Rod apparently wanted more, and showered Davis “with flowers, jewelry, persistence and heated e-mails.”

The newspaper confirmed the story with Davis, who said that “all I can say is our paths have definitely crossed personally and professionally.”

Notably, A-Rod was married at the time. You can now add hookers to A-Rod’s list of vices next to steroids.

Things keep going from bad to worse for New York Yankee’s drug cheat Alex “A-Rod” Rodriguez.

A-Rod fronted the media at a press conference earlier today and admitted to having used Ripped Fuel, a nutritional supplement later banned by MLB.

Ripped Fuel contained the herb ephedra, which as well as allegedly being a performance enhancing substance, wasn’t without serious risk, being blamed for heart failure to kidney and liver disease. Ephedra was thought to be a cause of the death of major league pitcher Steve Bechler during the 2003 spring training season.

A-Rod also spoke more on his steroid abuse, claiming among other things:

“I didn’t think they were steroids. That, again, is part of being young and stupid. It was over the counter, it was pretty basic. It was really amateur hour. It was two guys doing a very amateur and immature thing. We probably didn’t even take it right.”

That his cousin injected him

Rodriguez said he was injected with the steroid by his cousin twice a month, though later he said it wasn’t always twice month, but that was the average of usage over the three-year period.

“I’m not sure what the benefit was [of taking it],” Rodriguez said. He said using was “half physical and half mental.” But Rodriguez, while saying he did feel more energy, wouldn’t actually measure the full benefit of the steroid. He said, “it was hard to say.”

A-Rod also denied ever using human growth hormone or amphetamines….so that makes things better

Although he’s a disgrace to sport, I’ll credit him on one thing: he has at least come forward to discuss the issue, and maybe, just maybe his downfall might be a lesson to kiddies and others tempted to take steroids as well.

Alex Rodriguez has admitted that he used steroids, telling ESPN that he used the performance-enhancing drugs from 2001-03 while at Texas.

“When I arrived in Texas in 2001, I felt an enormous amount of pressure. I felt like I had all the weight of the world on top of me and I needed to perform, and perform at a high level every day” said Rodriguez.

“And I did take a banned substance and, you know, for that I’m very sorry and deeply regretful. And although it was the culture back then and Major League Baseball overall was very — I just feel that — you know, I’m just sorry. I’m sorry for that time. I’m sorry to fans. I’m sorry for my fans in Texas. It wasn’t until then that I ever thought about substance of any kind, and since then I’ve proved to myself and to everyone that I don’t need any of that.”

“Back then it was a different culture. It was very loose. I was young. I was stupid,” Rodriguez said. “I was naive, and I wanted to prove to everyone that, you know, I was worth, you know — and being one of the greatest players of all time.”

Rodriguez will be remembered…as one of the biggest drug cheats of all time.

The confession follows Rodriguez being named by Sports Illustrated as a drug cheat February 7.

New York Yankees’ Alex Rodriguez tested positive to steroids in 2003, according to a report from Sports Illustrated.

Rodriguez, perhaps the most successful player in the history of baseball, holding a range of records including most home runs, refused to answer questions about the allegation.

SI claims that Rodriguez is on a list of positive results obtained in 2003 under an agreement that no results or player names would be released as part of an assessment into how widespread steroids were in the sport.

If at least 5% of the tests were positive, however, baseball would institute random testing, with players testing positive publicly identified and suspended. Of 1,198 players tested, 104 came back positive.

The list of names is subject to a court battle, after the US government seized the test results as part of the BALCO investigation.

An insider told the paper that A-Rod stayed “very close to [Karan] who only had eyes for him and followed him around all night on New Year’s Eve,” BUT he still happens to be enamored with Madge. It seems odd, since Madonna’s an Ice Queen Extraordinaire; there must be some unspoken perks like really eating better and going through punishing daily workouts. As for the sex, erm. . . you probably remember the rules. Perhaps A-Rod needs to conserve his strength to stay a star slugger, anyway.
