I know this isn’t very original and many other 30-year-olds would make the same choice, but the Back to the Future trilogy was the film series that defined my childhood. Yeah, even the slightly average third one.

Hence, it will take wild horses to tear me away from Back to the Future: The Game come launch day. There have been Back to the Future games before, but none that did justice to the film. This latest effort might just break that run of failures. For a start, it’s being made by Telltale Games, a company with a fine track record in adventure games.

Furthermore, these first screens look superb (IGN has a couple more)! I already love the stylized versions of Doc and Marty – they’ve absolutely nailed Christopher Lloyd’s bulbous-eyed stare. Speaking of which, Lloyd has signed up to voice Doc, though the Marty role has gone to some dude called AJ LoCascio.

You’ll play as Marty (and only Marty, I’m afraid, as fun as it would be to take on the role of Biff) and, as this is an adventure game, there’ll be a lot of finding and using objects and solving puzzles. The story, a “full sequel” to the three movies, is brand new. While that may ring alarm bells, Telltale has said that some familiar locations will be in there, including Doc’s lab and the Hill Valley clock tower.

… And now I need to go watch Back to the Future for about the fifth time this year. The game is due to hit 88mph and burst onto your screen in December.

80′s television series T.J.Hooker is to be remade as a Hollywood action/ comedy movie.

David Foster, Ryan Heppe and series creator Rick Husky producing, and Chuck Russell (“The Scorpion King,” “The Mask”) is in talks to direct, according to Variety. Foster and Heppe have previously produced such gems as Wild Wild West and the Tremor pics.

T.J. Hooker was a Aaron Spelling series starting William Shatner that have a five year television run from 1982. Other starts on the show included Adrian Zmed, Heather Locklear, Richard Herd and James Darren.

Given the success of Star Trek (which also starred William Shatner) maybe it might turn out ok…or maybe not. Here’s betting it’s as bad as the Starsky and Hutch remake.

The Sci-Fi channel is remaking 80s television series Alien Nation.

The original series (which was loosely based on the movie of the same name) aired on Fox for one season in 1988-89 before being cut due to funding issues. The series was popular though, and a number of made for television specials were produced during the 1990′s.

Fox 21 head Chris Carlisle (Fox is producing the show) told Variety that he believed Alien Nation could be the next big franchise revival for Sci Fi. “It’s absolute perfect timing for this type of show,” Carlisle said. “They’re looking for more grounded sci-fi and close-ended episodes, and at the heart of ‘Alien Nation,’ it’s a cop movie. It’s grounded. And it has a tremendous amount of dramatic possibilities and humor.”

1981′s comedy horror An American Werewolf in London will be the latest 80′s movie to be remade.

According to Bloody-Disgusting.com who broke the story, writer/director John Landis has sold the remake rights to Dimension Films England. Pre-production hasn’t begun but will likely commence later this year, and Landis is believed to have been hired as executive producer.

The original movie starred David Naughton, Griffin Dunne, and Jenny Agutter, and told the story of an American in England who is bitten by a werewolf then eventually turns into one. Made for $10 million, the movie grossed $30 million and became a cult classic. A sequel, an American Werewolf in Paris was made in 1997, although featured none of the original cast.

The remake will allegedly update the movie for a contemporary audience, which usually means 1: teen starlets 2: iPods 3: lots of special effects. Also there will be a reasonable expectation that it will end up shite, but we’ll soon see.

80′s hit band Spandau Ballet may be planning a comeback!

According to reports, the band has seen the great reception other reforming bands have been getting and want a slice.

“It’s been spoken about for a little while but looks closer now. It would be a great, fun comeback and very lucrative for the band” according to a source quoted in The Sun.

This isn’t the first time rumors of a reunion have surfaced, although with this year being the 30th anniversary of the bands formation, the chances might be slightly better this time.

Let’s hope it’s true….and naturally here’s True, in an appropriately colored widget.
