Traffic is already a little backed up in Indianapolis due to the thousands of football fans who are flocking to the city for Super Bowl XLVI, but last night thing’s were at a complete standstill thanks to 50 Cent and Floyd Mayweather Jr.

The boxing champ, who just announced that he’d be fighting Miguel Cotto in his next fight on May 5, decided it would be a good idea to do some promotion in downtown Indianapolis. Mayweather, 50 Cent, and the rest of the entourage drove around in a decked out bus that was painted with Mayweather’s Twitter handle.

The bus would occasional stop so that 50 Cent and Mayweather could greet fans. When it did, traffic also stopped because the bus was so large that no one could get around.

A spectator told The Post Game:

“Every time it stopped, the traffic would immediately begin to back up because cars couldn’t get around. For the most part Mayweather stayed well inside, but a couple of times he leaned out and spoke with the fans. It didn’t take long for the cars to be backed up in every direction and there were times when the roads were packed in every direction and no one could move.”

Boxing fans were disappointed to hear that Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao wouldn’t be squaring off on May 5th so it looks like the WBC welterweight champion is doing everything he can to hype his fight with Cotto.

Doesn’t this sound like some fantastical story, like a half bird, half man hybrid that is also a mysterious millionaire is going to make a crazy large wager on the Super Bowl because his bird half is very bad with math and he really only wanted to wager five eggs, or something?

Alas, if you, like me, were hoping for a Super Bowl themed story about science experiments gone horrifically, entertainingly wrong, you, like me, will come off very disappointed here. It’s just some rapper dude who apparently goes by the name of Birdman. Boring. And this “Birdman” character is so into American football or rich or into American football and rich that he’s making a $5 million dollar bet on the Super Bowl. Bah.

Birdman website explains more in-depth about how he is 100% human, saying:

“With all of his elaborate possessions – from jewels to cars and homes; his cash money making ventures- from music to videogames to shoes and clothing; Bryan ‘Birdman aka Baby’ Williams is poised to continue shining in everything he does.”

And then another blog notes the rapper’s Twitter comments, and the less obvious reasons a $5 million dollar bet on the Super Bowl isn’t such a great idea in this scenario:

“I like New England because BenJarvus Green-Ellis is my nephew. I plan on wagering $5 million on the game to anyone who wants the action.”

Birdman told Billboard earlier this month that Green-Ellis is his brother’s son and I’m going to take him at his word because he has face tattoos. Still, having family on the team seems like a bad reason to wager 5 percent of your net wealth on the outcome of a game. Somebody is Rex Grossman’s uncle too, you know?

Well, at least if Birdman loses, he doesn’t plan on tweeting his junk, which is an idea we can all get behind.

50 cent bet big on the New York Giants to beat the San Francisco 49ers during the NFC Championship game. It isn’t exactly clear what Curtis Jackson put down, but he walked away with $500,000.

50 Cent wrote on Twitter:

“I love the NEW YORK see this is life baby LMAO Man all U had to do was listen I told you were gonna win… Yo don’t give that punk no attention. if I get shot ill only get up again.just watched a 500,000 dollar foot ball game get on my level.Chump.”

50 Cent also posted a picture of his winnings.

The 49ers were favored to win the NFC Championship game, according to SB Nation, so how did 50 Cent know they were going to win? Apparently the rapper has a little gambling genius sitting on his shoulder that tells him who to bet on. 50 Cent wrote:

“Some times I hear voices in my head they tell me thing. Like bet on th GIANTS so I listen now look.”

And 50 Cent isn’t done betting. The rapper made a bet with @MyBestAssets on the Super Bowl. If you don’t want to see 50 Cent’s penis pop up in your Twitter feed after the Super Bowl, you better hope that the Giants take home a win.

“If the Giants lose the Superbowl, u must post ur d*ck on the twitter. If they win, I’ll post my boobs & face on here. Bet?”

50 Cent retweeted the comment, which of course, means that the bet is official.

How poor is rapper Young Buck? Young Buck is so poor that he can’t even afford his name. The Nashville rapper may have to give up his trademark name and revert back to David Darnell Brown at the end of a Chapter 7 bankruptcy liquidation case.

Young Buck owes a lot of people a lot of money. The rapper owes child support, the IRS, and more than $10 million to rapper 50 Cent. The Tennessean reports that Young Buck has been with 50 Cent’s record label, but hasn’t been able to record since 2008 due to a falling out with the rapper.

Buck’s case was changed from a Chapter 11 Reorganization to a Chapter 7 bankruptcy liquidation last night. Barbara Holmes, a Nashville attorney representing Burton in the case, said that Young Buck almost avoided bankruptcy by signing a deal with Cash Money records, but the deal wasn’t finalized in time. Holmes said:

“There was no deal finalized within the time frame that was necessary for the case to remain in Chapter 11. There are insufficient remaining funds in the estate to pay the ongoing administrative expenses that are due.”

Which means that Young Buck has to start liquidating his assets, including his trademarked name.

The Artist-soon-to-be-formerly-known-as-Young-Buck told the Tennessean:

“My name, Young Buck, has been with me since I was 12, 13 years old. At the end of the day, it’s ridiculous. My name wasn’t given to me by G-Unit Records. They didn’t name me Young Buck. My mother calls me Young Buck.”

The good news is that Young Buck will be back in the recording studio soon. The bad news is that he’ll probably have to choose a new name.

It seems as if rumors that the latest Playboy Celebrity Cover proved to be unfounded.  There seems to be very little interest in Lindsay Lohan‘s “Assets”.  In fact, very few customers seem to have much interest, especially since the photos were leaked online last week, and were widely criticized as flat.  The photo shoot has been described as an  intensely air-brushed version of the photo shoot done of Marilyn Monroe, which appeared in Playboy in 1953.

Fox News sent a team on the streets from New York to Philadelphia trying to find out how much interest there was in the issue, and they reported the same answer at every stop.

“No one has bought it”

It seems as if the $1 million dollars that Hugh Hefner paid for the shoot might have just been a waste of time and money.  Speaking exclusively to E! online, Hugh Hefner originally stated he didn’t even have any interest in photographing the troubled actress.

“It really came as a surprise to me,” Hefner told E! “I kind of had mixed emotions about it initially, and then it turned into something bigger than life. “I wasn’t quite sure where she was at in her life, obviously. It depends on whether it’s Tuesday or Thursday.”

Speaking to Perez Hilton, there seemed to be one celebrity who was really interested in purchasing the magazine and that was rap sensation 50 Cent.  He told Perez he had not seen the spread online, but was really interested in seeing what Lindsay’s cooch looked like.  He also waxed philosophically about why it is that when a woman strips for $1 she is called a stripper but when a celebreity does it for $1 Million it is called “art”

In da interview, ‘Fiddy’ opened up about everything from his upbringing, his rise to fame, being shot nine times, his anti-bullying book, and his transformation into a multi-millionnaire vitamin water salesman.

He also stated he no longer touches drugs or alcohol (though he admits he did deal drugs from the age of twelve), revealing, “I had an experience that made me paranoid so I try to stay away from it.”

And if 50 Cent’s father is reading now, he’d be best to look away. The rapper was asked by Morgan about his rough childhood, and whether he ever wanted to meet his father. The reply was brutally honest:

“I have no desire to meet him, I mean he could help me not make the mistakes I made earlier on but I don’t think he would be a positive influence on me.”

There was also some talk of politics, a subject 50 Cent was recently vocal about when he declared himself a supporter of the Occupy Wall Street protests.

Celebrity supporters of the Occupy Wall Street movement? You’ll find them in the club.

While usual suspects Susan Sarandon and Michael Moore have thrown their support behind the anti-corporate Occupy Wall Street movement, there’s been a lot of help from the rap world as well, with stars Russell Simmons and Kanye West appearing at protests to show solidarity with the movement’s platform. Simmons and West are fairly outspoken politically and socially, but you can add another prominent hip-hop voice to the roster- rapper 50 cent has penned a rather lengthy post lauding the movement as well.

Fitty- real name Curtis Jackson- may not be very closely associated with causes in general, but that may be changing. And while the artist himself is rich, he says he stands with the 99% that have taken to the streets to protest crony capitalism and a corrupt system that has seen not one arrest following the global economic meltdown. He says:

“How f**ked up that we have evidence that the big Banks have been corrupt, yet our governments aren’t punishing those that have stolen from the pension funds.

“Our Politicians are puppets for whoever pays them into office. That’s how f**ked our system is. Their broken promises for change cant happen especially when the system is corrupt.”

50 Cent continues:

“And children who need a meal go without because our politicians won’t stop thinking of themselves long enough or how to win the next election, too [sic] look around them and see how bad it is. You aren’t helping Mr politician… Im f**kn angry that Children are dying everyday…

“Problem is those with the power – government and big business, want this system to keep going. Its [sic] suits them. I don’t want to do business with these f**kers anymore. Do you? if a company isn’t giving back, stop buying from them…”

The Candy Shop rapper concludes:

“We are more powerful than the big business and politicians realize… we have the power to stop buying their products, banking with them. your dollar, that you worked hard for, does have power. together we can say – Wake Up A-holes! The game is over.”

The rapper signs off telling fans and occupiers to “keep up the peaceful protest, you are making a difference.”

Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is pledging to use his celebrity status for good with a new project designed to help needy, starving children in Africa.

The rapper announced that for every sale of his energy drink, Street King, he will provide one meal for a child in need. That’s not all, though – to help spread the word, Fiddy will be running a separate promotion where for every like received, he’ll donate an additional meal to needy children. If the Facebook page is “liked” 1 million times in a week, he’ll double that amount to 2 million.

“Every day, families in Africa go without food and water, never knowing when their next meal might be; but we can change that if we all work together. In order to make a difference, every purchase of my new energy shot, Street King, will provide a meal for a child in need,” he wrote in a post on Huffington Post.

“This project is different from anything I’ve done before — it’s not only powered by my own energy, but the SK mission is powered by the energy of my fans. It’s their energy that will provide 1 billion meals to hungry children. These days, we hear a lot about clean energy, and efficiency, but this is about human energy, energy that’s fueling change.”

“Man I’m not releasing an album,” the 36-year-old G-Unit founder tweeted earlier this week. “I can’t believe Interscope is this (expletive) up right now. I apologize to all my fans.I will work with other artists on their projects but I will not put out another album. They dropped the ball with me one time too many.”

Reports say that 50 is angry at the label for not giving him the same attention as his mentor and label partner Dr. Dre and also for leaking one of his songs, “I’m On It,” which mysteriously made its way onto the Internet early Wednesday morning.

“I don’t know how I can record 41 song for my album and the one song I give interscope leaks But I don’t care its good music,” Jackson posted.

In retaliation, he once again took to Twitter and voiced a threat to leak Dre’s next single, “Psycho” from his album “Detox.”

“I LOVE DRE but I’m putting his next single psycho out tomorrow at 2:00,” 50 wrote, adding later, “Your gonna love it it’s a big song I just don’t think it deserves a great set up sense they can’t seem to get it right when it comes to me.”

Fiddy apparently cooled down after his “rage-tweet,” however, as less than 24 hours later he changed his tune, tweeting, “I wouldn’t leak dre’s record he has done nothing but help me in my career.”

According to rapper 50 cent, Ja Rule isn’t the only one that is squashing beef with him this year. Apparently 50 and Dr. Dre have put a recent squabble on the back burner in order to team up for a track on the eagerly awaited Dre album, Detox.

“I did a joint with dre for his album that’s crazy” 50 tweeted. “They were suppose to put it out this weekend but you never know with dre.”

Earlier this year artists Snoop dog and Eminem joined the Dre project to release singles to “Kush” and “I Need A Doctor”, both of which will be included in the albums release.

Despite these facts, the official release date of the album is still unknown at this time. Earlier reports indicated that ‘Detox‘ would drop on 4/20, the unofficial marijuana holiday, but that day has came and passed.

According to Snoop Dog, Dre’s environment is stifling the album’s production.

“It’s a formula,” Snoop said. “Like I was trying to explain to you earlier when we made records in the past it was an environment, an atmosphere. If there’s not that atmosphere you can’t create that kind of album. So that’s what’s happening right now. The songs don’t match the atmosphere and the atmosphere don’t match the songs.”

Soon to be incarcerated rapper Ja Rule claims that he no longer has any ill will towards 50 cent. The opposing artists verbally sparred some years back, most recently reigniting their beef with a war of words on Twitter, but all that is in the past according to Rule in an interview with The Life Files.

“It’s resolved now,” he declared. “I’m cool. We ain’t beefing no more. We’ll never collaborate. That’s just what it is. You don’t have to be at war with somebody, but it’s also kind of like U.S. and another country that they may not get along with. We don’t gotta go to war, but we’re not friends either. But we can coincide inside of a world. He’s doing him, and he’s not thinking about me, and I’m doing me and I’m not thinking about him.”

The former Murder Inc. rapper went on to address the remarks made back and forth by him and 50 over twitter:

“I was a little ashamed of myself to be even involved with that. Because I’m like, yo, I’m 35 years old and I’m on Twitter beef? That’s not something I want to entertain, but I’m a man first, so I’m reading s— like him sending tweets and little things about me.”

Ja Rule’s official prison sentencing is scheduled for June 8th.

Jersey Shore cast member and Palms Las Vegas resident DJ Pauly D is edging closer to a record deal with 50 Cent’s G-Unit Records.

Pauly D, who will see his own reality show spinoff hit MTV in 2012 recently traveled to New York City where he met with 50 Cent and members of his label. The deal would not only give Pauly D a three record deal, it would also include a merchandise line and Pauly D branded headphones.

The deal according to TMZ is being rushed so Pauly D can be secured before he leaves for months of shooting in Italy on what is expected to be the last season of Jersey Shore.

The DJ will collaborate with various stars on the record.

Security personnel at a Scream 4 afterparty tonight had to be prepared for anything after partygoer Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson revealed to his millions of Twitter followers where the party would be taking place.

50 Cent has 4 million+ Twitter followers which immediately freaked out event organizers who were then forced to beef up security after the invitation appears on 50′s account.

TMZ spoke with Mike Zimet of security firm the Weinsten Company who said security was being beefed up and ”
According to Mike Zimet, event security specialist for the Weinstein Company, additional security has already been called in…”While we appreciate 50′s enthusiasm, we are not quite prepared in the event that his 4 million followers turn up.”

The party, being co-hosted by 50 Cent at a New York Restaurant is meant to host approximately 100 people.

Rapper/actor 50 Cent shared stunning pictures on Twitter, chronicling his dramatic weight loss for a role as a center patient in the upcoming film “Things Fall Apart.”

50 Cent (real name Curtis Jackson) plays a college football player diagnosed with cancer in “Things Fall Apart.” The film, slated for a 2011 release, also stars Ray Liotta as a doctor who treats Fitty’s character. The rapper is said to have plummeted from 214 lbs to 160 lbs in just nine weeks, using a liquid diet and three hour daily treadmill workouts to achieve the emaciated look seen in the pics. Of the rapid weight loss, 50 Cent says:

“I was starving,” he’s quoted as saying on his Web page. “But I will be back in shape in no time.”

Singer Rufus Wainwright did an interview with Details this month in which he says hip-hip badass and multiple gunshot victim 50 Cent pings his gaydar.

Wainwright, who has been openly gay since he was a teenager, says the rapper is welcome to come out and be a baby gay with him and his boyfriend. Wainwright first mentions Fitty in a question about modern pop culture. He involves the rapper out of the blue, saying:

And I love, love 50 Cent. I think he’s just the sexiest, and a brilliant writer. And I know he’s gay…

When pressed about why he’s so sure 50 Cent is a friend of Dorothy, Wainwright simply elaborates:

That cute little voice of his. It’s okay, 50 Cent. Feel free to call me anytime. My boyfriend and I are experts. You can come over for dinner. And maybe dessert.

It’s not really clear if Wainwright is just teasing or if he genuinely feels Fitty is closeted. Later in the interview, he addresses the issues with coming out and being famous:

It’s true, it’s tougher careerwise if you come out, but this is a human-rights issue, and it’s important to keep putting dents in it. It’s about two teenagers being beheaded for holding hands in Saudi Arabia. It’s bigger than someone’s music career.

In a 2004 MTV interview, 50 Cent indicated that he is not very supportive of gay people, and unapologetically throws down the (other) f-word.

There’s a number of great posts today about the whole music piracy nonsense. However none come close to show the hypocrisy of the music business’s so-called war against piracy than the whole Lily Allen crap-fest that has hit the blogosphere today.

It all centers around a post on Allen’s recently launched blog, It’s Not Alright, where she attempts to take rapper 50 Cent to task over his recent interview on CNBC where he suggested that piracy is really just part of the music business.  I say attempts because her argument would actually mean something if she hadn’t stolen it – word for word – from a post by Michael Masnick of Techdirt.

Masnick responded to the whole thing with a post today and like him I am having a really hard time making any sense of her incoherent reasoning of who she seems to think is affected by piracy. In the paragraph she mentions recording studio people, website builders, designers and last but not least the kids who put up posters.

Excuse me?

Exactly what do any of those people have to do with being affected by piracy. Every single example she uses are people who get paid for their service regardless of whether some musician’s music is pirated or not. Not one of them is paid using the recording companies highly questionable percentage basis as the musicians are. They get cash on the barrelhead – period.

So not only does Allen show that she has absolutely no couth when it comes to other people’s “copyrights” – I guess because it was a blogger they don’t count – but she shows that she doesn’t seem to understand some basic economics of paying for services rendered.

Do yourself a favor Lily Allen – shut up and leave the discussion about music and the bullshit around piracy to those who actually know what they are talking about, not what their manager or record company pumps up their ass.

The ‘Ghost Twitterer’

The Times has an interesting feature today that goes into several specifics. 50 Cent, for example, has personal messages that any fan would assume came straight from his fingers. One of his assistants, however, does all the work, telling The Times 50 Cent “doesn’t actually use Twitter, but the energy of it is all him.” Kanye West also hired some assistants to handle his online updates, the story says, and politicians — Barack Obama included — have “social networking teams” that manage their tweets and other online activity.

Even some “new media consultants” — you know, those people on Twitter with tens of thousands of followers who dish out advice on how to use social tools — have “ghost Twitterers” doing all the work.

Not-So-Transparent Ghosts

It’s one thing to hire someone to manage a Web site, or even to write for your blog under their own name to provide supplementary material. When you’re paying someone else to write something as your own words, though, it seems to me a line has been crossed. When Britney Spears openly brought on a team of Twitterers for her account last year, she (or, perhaps more accurately, her publicity team) was at least more open about the process. Many of these famous names aren’t being so up-front about who’s actually behind the keyboard.

In the publishing world, a ghost writer typically works with the figure in question to create the content, and they are credited as such. In Twitter, where messages typically take a familiar and personal tone, this isn’t the case — and what The Times describes strikes me as being rather deceptive, even a bit insulting to fans who follow someone so they can connect with their thoughts.

If people are going to hire others to handle their streams, it’s time for transparency.

Forbes released its 2008 list of Hip-Hop’s biggest earners for 2008 and in at number one is Mr. Fiddy Cent himself with $150 million, followed by Sean “Jay-Z” Carter and Sean “Diddy” Combs. The trio was also the top 3 in the list last year with 50 Cent overtaking Jay-Z thanks to a lucrative deal with Coca-Cola, selling his stake in Vitamin Water. Kanye West (or is that Kanye “Kanye West” West?) may have beat 50 in the soundscan battle but he comes fourth on the list with $30 million.

As fun as this list is, I’m actually more interested in these rappers’ real names, like Timothy “Timbaland” Mosley and Aliaune “Akon” Thiam. Really, I had no idea. But no matter what, I’m still going to refer to Jonathon Smith affectionately as Lil John. Yeah!
