It may not be MegaMillions, but Brooklyn teen Robert Salo’s Win For Life scratch-off bounty basically gives the new grad a decent starting salary out of high school, and he doesn’t even have to work for it.

18-year-old Robert Salo lives in Sheepshead Bay with his mom and was set to graduate next week, but Salo and his mom didn’t know how they’d fund the ever-rising cost of college so the teen could pursue his dream career of becoming an electrical engineer.

All that changed for the lucky, lottery winning high school senior on May 14th, when he stopped at a Coney Island convenience store and says he was drawn to a scratch-off Win For Life ticket.

According to Salo, he had a good feeling about the ticket that would make him the state’s youngest winner of the weekly payout scratch off. He explains:

“I just had a feeling… Something drew me to it. It was like I was in the right place at the right time.”

He continues:

“It feels like I’m living in a dream… One minute, I’m driving around with my mom and uncle, and the next I’m yelling at them to pull over because I won a million dollars. We all thought it was a joke at first and then we were like, ‘Yeah! Okay! Wow!’”

According to the New York State Lottery, Salo will receive a grand a week for the next twenty years, up to $1 million. Once he hits that point, he will receive a yearly check for $52,000, for as long as he lives. The teen says:

“I’m definitely going to use it for college… I’m going to invest in myself.”
