Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus of Boondock Saints

Norman Reedus And Sean Patrick Flanery Turned Down ‘Boondock Saints 3’ Film And TV Series [Opinion]

Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery were reportedly planning to star in Boondock Saints 3, but apparently, something has gone wrong with Norman and Sean Patrick’s plan. On May 6, Flanery posted the following on Twitter.

“For all those with questions about the recent Boondock Saints videos, news and announcements. Neither Norman Reedus nor Sean Patrick Flanery are involved in any way with the TV show, BDS III, or their recent sales/marketing campaigns. They have no connection whatsoever. Hope this clarifies things.”

Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery were reportedly looking forward to making the Boondock Saints 3 film. Norman and Sean Patrick’s fans were anxiously awaiting news about the film that had reportedly already started filming.

Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery’s fans believed they were just waiting for the release date for Boondock Saints 3, so what happened?

Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery reportedly had plans to star in the film until very recently. Cinema Blend recently quoted a statement from the team behind Boondock Saints Origins the TV series.

“Norman and Sean absolutely will be back for the 3rd film and are aware of this television reboot of the brand. And who knows… maybe they pop by from time to time in the TV Series.”

Boondock Saints’ fanbase, as well as other Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery fans, must be in shock. Reedus and Flanery must have had a very sudden change of plans. While both messages are clear, there was an obvious contradiction. There has been little said in the media, but Sean Patrick Flanery gave an interview on the topic to Lifezette.

Sean Patrick Flanery awkwardly told Lifezette just how hard it was to break the news.

“I feel like a parent that has to explain to his kids why the parents are getting divorced.”

Norman Reedus has apparently not commented publicly at all about the mysterious shakeup, but Sean Patrick Flanery said he had spoken to Norman Reedus about the situation at length. It was not a decision Reedus took lightly, according to Flanery.

“I’ll tell you this. Boondock Saints is an incredibly special product for me and Reedus, and we spoke at length about this before it came out. It takes a very dear place in our heart, so I hope everybody realizes that when we say at this point we are not going to have anything to do with Boondock Saints III, it’s for a very, very, very good reason.”

So Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery have made the decision to distance, even “divorce,” themselves from any further Boondock Saints projects. While the exact reason for the decision remains unclear, Flanery’s further comments on the issue sounded ominous.

“It would take something monumental for us to make that decision. There was something that we think is very unfortunate, but we wish the best in all aspects. But sometimes there are things that you can’t turn a blind eye to, and I’ll leave it at that.”

Sean Patrick Flanery did not leave it at that, though, he continued implying that there was some huge reason why he and Norman Reedus would not be doing Boondock Saints.

Sean Patrick Flanery also made it clear that both he and Norman Reedus loved making Boondock Saints 1 and Boondock Saints 2. Further, Reedus and Flanery are proud of both movies and how they turned out but for some “very good reason” that Sean Patrick would not disclose, he and Norman simply could not proceed with the third film.

“This was a priority on both of our plates and for us to say no, just know that there had to be something that we deemed incredibly unethical that we cannot turn a blind eye to. And I’ll leave it at that.”

While Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery will not state their reasons for turning down their roles in Boondock Saints 3. Flanery made it clear that he and Reedus love the Boondock Saints fans and stand behind the first two films.

Here is Sean Patrick Flanery’s Twitter announcement of he and Norman Reedus’ decision not to go forward with Boondock Saints 3.

Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery are not turning their backs on either the Boondock Saints original two films nor the fans who love them. It is clear that it is with heavy hearts Norman and Sean Patrick were forced by some “ethics” issue to decline to reprise their former Boondock Saints roles. Nothing more is known about the issue at this time.

Though Norman Reedus has not commented directly yet on Boondock Saints 3, Sean Patrick Flanery was reportedly providing a final answer for Norman Reedus as well as himself.

Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery are reportedly no longer associated with the Boondock Saints franchise, due to undisclosed ethical reasons.
