Tim Allen’s Last Man Standing could be moving to Fox, while ABC is bracing for a massive boycott. Allen’s show was the third most-watched show on ABC. Tim’s show was one of the few with stable ratings.
Last Man Standing, starring Tim Allen, was a clean family show. Tim’s show was a safe zone for young children and older adults, in that it provided decency and family values without random sexual or violent content.
Last Man Standing was never owned or produced by ABC who had no control over its content. Tim Allen’s Last Man Standing belonged to 20th Century Fox, which is a subsidiary of Fox Entertainment Group.
Tim Allen and Last Man Standing could be moving to Fox network, according to Nation One News.
“Sources inside Fox suggest [Tim Allen’s] show will move to Fox and its affiliates along with ‘certain streaming services.'”
While Tim Allen has received no formal or public announcement, Fox negotiations for Last Man Standing are reportedly going well, and things look good for Allen’s show according to Nation One News.
Tim Allen’s Last Man Standing also got a strong endorsement from the Parent TV Council, or PTC, who decided to criticize The Mick, in order to endorse Tim’s show to Fox according to their statement on Deadline.
“[Last Man Standing] isn’t a perfect show” [It has a Yellow Light rating with PTC due to] occasional sexual innuendo and language. Still, it’s a much safer show for families than The Mick and, for that matter, much safer than most programs on air on primetime broadcast television.”
Tim Allen may actually be The Last Man Standing as the battle lines are drawn between Fox and ABC. Can ABC get the message that their ratings are already in decline, perhaps because of their choices in programming?
Last Man Standing became the number three show, simply by maintaining viewers, while other shows are not retaining their fan base. Look at ratings for four of their top shows in 2017 shown here compared to 2014 as by TV Series Finale.
Modern Family drew 3.54 million viewers ages 18 to 49 and 9.91 million total viewers in 2014.
Modern Family drew 2.10 million viewers ages 18 to 49 and 6.88 million total viewers in 2017.
Grey’s Anatomy drew 2.69 million viewers ages 18 to 49 and 8.53 million total viewers in 2014.
Grey’s Anatomy drew 2.07 million viewers ages 18 to 49 and 7.84 million total viewers in 2017.
Tim Allen’s Last Man Standing didn’t start out that popular, but Allen’s show is one of the few ABC shows that has actually grown. In 2014, Tim’s show ranked tenth in total viewers in the ABC lineup. In 2017 it was third. It appears that Allen’s Last Man Standing is one of the things many people want to see.
Tim Allen’s Last Man Standing has consistent ratings, while other shows’ ratings are in free fall. Why would ABC cancel their third highest rated show?
Last Man Standing drew 1.33 million viewers ages 18 to 49 and 6.27 million total viewers in 2014.
Last Man Standing drew 1.15 million viewers ages 18 to 49 and 6.40 million total viewers in 2017.

Scandal drew 1.42 million viewers ages 18 to 49 and 5.60 million total viewers in 2017.
Tim Allen’s Last Man Standing, by comparison with Scandal who started out at the top, has held its own while programs like Scandal have lost steam.
Tim Allen’s Last Man Standing may appeal to parents and older Americans offended or confused by what is being called agenda-driven TV. Perhaps the tide is turning and ordinary Americans are tired of the allegedly agenda driven entertainment industry.
Some say Tim Allen’s Last Man Standing was canceled because of politics, but for many Americans, morality and politics are not the same things. For many people, TV viewing preference is about perpetuating their own lifestyle and raising children. Providing a clean, healthy example for young people is key to the Parents TV Council’s point about Tim Allen’s show.
The Tim Allen Last Man Standing boycott of ABC programming is about principles, virtues, and tradition, as states the petition on Change.org which now has over 386,000 supporters. Readers who want to sign the petition can click here.
“Last Man Standing stands out in the sea of network television sitcoms. It is a show that appeals to a broad swath of Americans who find very few shows that extol the virtues with which they can identify; namely conservative values.”
The Tim Allen supporting petition on Change.Org is clear and asks that viewers take action. Will the cancellation of Last Man Standing turn into the last stand for ABC?
“The intent of this petition/boycott is to attempt to get ABC to renew the show. With that in mind, I will no longer be watching any ABC shows. I have canceled the DVR settings for the other ABC shows that I regularly watch. If you want to help try to save Last Man Standing, I encourage you to do the same.”
