Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers are looking for nothing less than a Super Bowl win this coming season. After falling to the Atlanta Falcons in the NFC Championship Game last year, the Packers knew that they had to be aggressive this offseason in order to get back to the game this year.
Green Bay is not known for being a free agency contender, but that changed a bit this offseason. They went out and signed star tight end Martellus Bennett, while also bringing in Lance Kendricks to help Rodgers out as a No. 2 tight end. Following those moves, the Packers brought in defensive lineman Ricky Jean-Francois.
In addition to the outside free agents that the Packers signed, they also re-signed both Nick Perry and Jayrone Elliott. Both players figure to have roles this season in the pass rush, especially Perry, who was a hot commodity in free agency before ultimately returning to Green Bay.
Not only did the Packers make splashes in free agency, they also brought in a potential lockdown corner in Kevin King with their first selection of the 2017 NFL Draft. Green Bay also brought in a potential defensive playmaker, Josh Jones.
All of that being said, the Packers’ attention has switched to NFL training camp. There are some roster spots up for grab, and some players who are fighting for their chance to make the Packers. Which four players could be cut by the Packers during training camp?

Jeff Janis, Wide Receiver
Over the past couple of years, Jeff Janis has become a Packers’ fan favorite. From being a practice squad standout to catching an amazing hail mary pass against the Atlanta Falcons in the playoffs a couple years back, Janis has made a name for himself with the Packers. Unfortunately, the Packers’ wide receiver depth chart got even deeper this offseason, and Janis could be on his last leg.
Joe Callahan, Quarterback
Green Bay is high on quarterback Joe Callahan, but he may be a roster cut ahead of the season. Brett Hundley is the obvious backup quarterback, while the Packers also signed undrafted free agent Taysom Hill this offseason. Hill and Callahan will battle for the No. 3 quarterback job, and Hill might just beat him out.
Which rookie can have the biggest impact on defense?

Jermaine Whitehead, Safety
Jermaine Whitehead is also on the chopping block, as the Packers are stacked at the safety position. He is not a household name amongst Packers’ fans but has carved out a small role for himself on special teams. That being said, the Packers are likely to cut him ahead of the upcoming season.
Demetri Goodson, Cornerback
Cutting a cornerback may not end up being in the equation for the Packers, but if it is, Demetri Goodson will likely be the guy. He has struggled to carve out a role for himself with the Packers thus far. Green Bay has Damarious Randall, Kevin King, Quinten Rollins, Davon House, Ladarius Gunter, and likely Josh Jones ahead of him on the depth chart, which makes Goodson’s roster spot questionable.
Expect to see a few names that Packers fans will easily recognize cut this offseason. These four guys may not end up being cut, but they are certainly in trouble at this point in time.
Do you think these four players will make or miss the cut? Who would you add to the list as a potential roster casualty ahead of the season? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below!
